Start with Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man (2002), continue through Andrew Garfield’s two films and Tom Holland’s MCU movies, and watch the animated Miles Morales films in the order they were released. The correct sequence ends with Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), as of August 11, 2026.
This guide defines “all the Spider-Man movies” as released theatrical features built around a Spider-Man character and carrying Spider-Man in the title. It also explains where the MCU crossover films, Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent movies, and the unreleased Beyond the Spider-Verse fit.
The Spider-Man movies in strict release order
This is the best default order because it preserves the way audiences experienced the franchise: Sam Raimi’s original trilogy, the Andrew Garfield reboot, the Tom Holland MCU era, and the animated Spider-Verse films.
- Spider-Man (2002) — Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker origin story, directed by Sam Raimi.
- Spider-Man 2 (2004) — Raimi’s second film, with Peter facing Doctor Octopus.
- Spider-Man 3 (2007) — The conclusion of the original live-action trilogy.
- The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) — Andrew Garfield begins a separate continuity as Peter Parker.
- The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) — The second and final Garfield-led film.
- Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) — Tom Holland’s first solo Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
- Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) — The animated introduction to Miles Morales and the Spider-Verse.
- Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) — Holland’s second solo film, set after Avengers: Endgame.
- Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) — The live-action multiverse crossover.
- Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) — The second Miles Morales film, expanding the Spider Society.
- Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) — Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man film and the newest released theatrical Spider-Man movie as of August 11, 2026.
Important correction: No Way Home comes before Across the Spider-Verse in release order. The former was released in 2021; the latter followed in 2023.

#1 Best Overall
- The "Spider-Man" trilogy features the three critically- acclaimed "Spider-Man" films directed by Sam Raimi. Follow Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) in these three adventures as he swings into action fighting super-villains Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman and Venom and wins the heart of Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst).
What to expect from each era
1. Sam Raimi’s Tobey Maguire trilogy
- Spider-Man (2002)
- Spider-Man 2 (2004)
- Spider-Man 3 (2007)
These three films form one complete live-action continuity. The first follows Peter Parker’s transformation after a radioactive-spider bite and his conflict with the Green Goblin. Spider-Man 2 continues Peter’s story as he faces Doctor Octopus, while Spider-Man 3 closes Raimi’s trilogy.
Watch all three before No Way Home if you want the crossover’s returning characters and villains to have their full context.
2. Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man films
- The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
- The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
These films reboot Peter Parker rather than continuing Maguire’s version. Garfield plays Peter as a high-school student in a new continuity. The second movie develops Peter’s relationship with Gwen Stacy and brings him into conflict with Electro and Harry Osborn.
They are both short enough to watch as a two-film set, but they are especially valuable before No Way Home, which draws on characters and story elements from this era.

- Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
- Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
- Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
- Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)
Holland’s version is part of the MCU. Homecoming follows Peter’s debut in Captain America: Civil War, with Tony Stark acting as a mentor and Vulture serving as the principal new threat. Far From Home takes place after Avengers: Endgame. No Way Home is the crossover film that connects Holland’s Peter with the earlier live-action Spider-Man generations.
Brand New Day is the fourth Holland solo film and is described as a new chapter following No Way Home. Because it was released in 2026, it belongs at the end of a strict release-order marathon even though the animated Spider-Verse films appear between Holland’s releases.
Rank #2
4. The animated Miles Morales films
- Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
- Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
Into the Spider-Verse introduces Miles Morales and the idea that more than one person can wear the Spider-Man mask. Across the Spider-Verse follows Miles and expands the multiverse through the Spider Society.
These movies belong to a separate animated continuity. Their multiverse ideas are thematically connected to the live-action films, but they should not be inserted between films in the Raimi, Garfield, or Holland storylines. In a strict release marathon, watch Into after Homecoming, then watch Far From Home, No Way Home, and finally Across.
Buying note: If you want a permanent copy of the animated pair, a Spider-Verse 2-movie collection is a practical starting point. It contains Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse; it does not include the unreleased Beyond the Spider-Verse. Where No Way Home fits
For the best experience, watch No Way Home after all five earlier live-action films. That means watching the Raimi trilogy first, followed by both The Amazing Spider-Man films, then Homecoming and Far From Home.
Technically, you can understand No Way Home after only the first two Holland films. However, it is designed as a meeting point for three live-action Spider-Man eras. Watching the Maguire and Garfield films first gives the returning characters, villains, and generational references more meaning.
Spoiler warning: The crossover premise itself is widely known, but the details of who returns and how the stories connect are central to the film. If you have not seen No Way Home, avoid searching for its cast or villain list before watching it.
Spider-Man movies by continuity
If you would rather finish one version of Spider-Man before moving to another, use these groups. This is a continuity-based viewing guide, not one single chronological timeline.

Continuity grouping is a good choice if you want to compare the three live-action interpretations directly. For a first viewing, however, release order better preserves the franchise’s changing styles, casting, and multiverse reveals.
Optional MCU crossover films
The four Holland solo films are not the entire story of MCU Spider-Man. Peter Parker also appears in several MCU crossover films. These are not counted in the 11-film Spider-Man list because Spider-Man is not the title character, but they provide useful context.
For the minimum MCU background around the Holland films, use this sequence:
Recommended Free Tools
- Captain America: Civil War (2016) — Watch before Homecoming to see Holland’s Peter Parker debut and his first MCU connection.
- Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
- Avengers: Infinity War (2018) — An important crossover chapter before Far From Home.
- Avengers: Endgame (2019) — Watch immediately before Far From Home for the strongest direct context.
- Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
- Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
- Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)
You do not need to watch the entire MCU to follow the core Spider-Man marathon. These crossover films are optional additions for viewers who want Peter’s complete MCU arc rather than only the movies with Spider-Man in the title.
What does not belong in the essential Spider-Man order?
Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent movies
Venom, Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter belong to Sony’s broader Spider-Man-related character universe. They are not solo Spider-Man movies and are not required for the 11-film order above.
You can watch them as an optional Sony character-universe detour, but do not mix them into the main list as if they were chapters in Peter Parker’s Spider-Man series. Their connections to the live-action Spider-Man films are separate from the core viewing sequence.

- SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE: In a Multiverse of Spider-People, Miles Morales must redefine what it means to be a hero.SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE: ?Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse? introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.
Other Spider-Man appearances
The animated films count because they are Spider-Man-branded theatrical features centered on Spider-Man characters, even though Miles Morales is the principal Spider-Man. The MCU crossover films do not count toward the core total because they are ensemble movies. Television films, shorts, and series are also outside this guide’s scope.

What’s next: Beyond the Spider-Verse
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has not been released and should not be added to a completed-film marathon. Sony Pictures Animation lists it as a theatrical film dated June 18, 2027 and describes it as the conclusion of the Spider-Verse trilogy.
When it is released, the animated continuity’s order will be:
- Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
- Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
- Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (2027, scheduled)
The date is subject to change, so treat it as an upcoming release rather than the twelfth available film.

Streaming rights change by country, service, and date. There is no reliable permanent subscription home for all 11 films, so check each title in the services available in your region immediately before starting the marathon. Marvel’s current listings identify No Way Home as available on Disney+ in some markets, but that should not be treated as a worldwide or permanent guarantee.

Physical editions are the more durable option for a repeat marathon. Sony’s official home-entertainment pages list Blu-ray, DVD, and/or 4K Ultra HD editions for many of the live-action and animated films, including Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Into the Spider-Verse, Across the Spider-Verse, and No Way Home.
For collectors building a complete shelf, Spider-Man physical media is also useful when a particular title leaves a streaming catalog. Check the exact region, disc format, included cuts, and audio/subtitle options before buying, since editions and stock differ by market.
A simple plan for your marathon
- Choose release order for your first watch: Follow the 11-film list at the top of this guide.
- Allow for continuity changes: The first five films cover two different live-action versions of Peter Parker; the Holland films then move into the MCU; the animated films follow Miles Morales.
- Protect the No Way Home payoff: Finish the Raimi trilogy and Garfield duology before watching it.
- Add the MCU crossovers only if you want more context: Start with Civil War, then include Infinity War and Endgame before Far From Home.
- Do not count upcoming films as available films: Save Beyond the Spider-Verse for its eventual release.
- Check availability locally: Streaming and digital storefront listings are temporary and differ by country.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is No Way Home the third Tom Holland Spider-Man movie?
Yes. Within the Holland solo series, watch Homecoming, Far From Home, No Way Home, and then Brand New Day. For the best crossover experience, watch the Raimi and Garfield films before No Way Home as well.
Do I need to watch the Avengers movies to understand the Spider-Man films?
No. The core Spider-Man order works without them. Watch Captain America: Civil War before Homecoming, and Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame before Far From Home only if you want the additional MCU context.
Are the Venom and Morbius movies part of the Spider-Man movie order?
Not the essential order. They are Spider-Man-adjacent films from Sony’s broader character universe, but they are not solo Spider-Man movies and should be treated as optional extras.
Should I watch the Spider-Verse movies between the live-action films?
Watch them in their own order: Into the Spider-Verse followed by Across the Spider-Verse. They are connected thematically through the multiverse but form a separate animated continuity centered on Miles Morales.
Is Beyond the Spider-Verse available yet?
No. As of August 11, 2026, it is unreleased and scheduled for a June 18, 2027 theatrical release. It belongs in the upcoming-films section, not the completed 11-film list.
The Bottom Line
Best first-time order: watch the 11 released Spider-Man theatrical films by release date, ending with Brand New Day. Finish the Raimi and Garfield films before No Way Home, keep the animated Spider-Verse films together conceptually, and add the MCU crossover movies only when you want Peter Parker’s wider MCU context.
