Yes. Snapchat lets you layer multiple standard Filters on a Snap. After you capture a photo or video, swipe to choose a Filter, tap the layer icon, then select another available Filter. This does not mean you can combine any two live, face-changing Lenses: Filters are post-capture overlays, while Lenses are camera effects used before or during capture.
Layer two standard Filters
- Open Snapchat’s Camera screen and take a photo or video.
- Swipe left or right across the preview to apply the first Filter.
- Tap the layer icon in the editing controls.
- Swipe through the available Filters and choose a second one.
- Check the result, then save, send, or post your Snap.
Snapchat’s Filter instructions describe applying a Filter after creating a Snap and using the layer icon to add multiple Filters. The exact placement of controls can vary across app versions and devices. The two effects may not blend neatly: one can cover or compete with the other, and not every item in the editing interface is a stackable Filter.
Pairing effects with different purposes usually makes the result easier to read—for example, a color effect with a location overlay, or a subtle visual Filter with a time or activity overlay.

Filters and Lenses are different

Snapchat’s Lens instructions describe selecting a Lens from the camera carousel and then capturing the Snap. If by “two filters” you mean two separate live face effects, the normal Filter layer control is not a general-purpose way to combine them. Lens availability and behavior can also depend on the device.

Use a Lens and a Filter together
For a face or world effect plus a post-capture overlay, use this sequence:
- On the Camera screen, choose a Lens from the carousel.
- Capture the photo or video.
- On the captured Snap, swipe to apply a standard Filter.
- If you want another compatible Filter, tap the layer icon.
This is a Lens followed by one or more Filters—not two independently selected live Lenses.

If the time or temperature effect is missing
Some items people call Filters, including time and temperature, may be available from the sticker drawer instead of the usual Filter sequence. After capturing your Snap, open the sticker drawer and look there. Snapchat also points users to stickers when these effects are not available in the Filter controls.

If you cannot find the layer icon
- Make sure you have captured a Snap. Standard Filters are applied to the preview after capture, not selected from the live Lens carousel.
- Check which controls are open. The Lens carousel and post-capture editing tools serve different purposes.
- Look in the sticker drawer for time, temperature, or similar overlays.
- Update Snapchat through your device’s official app store, then fully close and reopen the app.
- Try a different Snap or a simpler Filter combination. If one particular effect will not combine, it may be incompatible with that effect rather than evidence that all layering is unavailable.
- Allow for interface variation. Controls and Lens availability may differ by device, account, region, or app build. Snapchat notes that some World Lenses are not available on every device.
Some users have reported seeing the layer control disappear or behave differently, but community reports are anecdotal and do not establish a platform-wide change. If the control remains missing after updating and restarting, check Snapchat’s current support information for your device and account.

When two effects still will not combine
Try a Lens designed to create a multi-effect result. Search Lens Explorer for terms such as “Duo,” “split screen,” “multiple,” or “collage.” Snapchat has listed examples including a Duo Lens and a Split Screen Filters Lens. These are single Lenses built to produce a combined look; their availability can change.
If you need a particular static combination, save the first result and see whether Snapchat’s current editing flow lets you reopen or import it for another overlay. This is a fallback, not a guarantee: re-editing may not preserve every interactive effect, metadata item, or video behavior. An external photo or video editor can offer more control over color, text, frames, and stickers, but it cannot reproduce every Snapchat Lens or its live tracking.

Do not confuse Dual Camera with Filter layering
Snapchat’s Dual Camera feature records front- and rear-camera views together; it is not a way to apply two Filters. See Snapchat’s Dual Camera instructions for that separate feature.
