Netflix Party is now called Teleparty. A Teleparty app is currently listed for compatible iPhones and iPads in the U.S. App Store, but its support documentation still contains older statements that iOS is unavailable or in closed beta. In practice, you can try the current app on iPhone or iPad; if it is unavailable in your region or does not work reliably, use Teleparty’s better-documented Chrome, Edge, or Opera extension on a computer.
Teleparty is independent from Netflix. Netflix provides the video, while Teleparty adds synchronized playback and text chat.
Can you use Netflix Party on an iPhone or iPad?
Yes, with an important qualification: the U.S. Apple App Store currently lists Teleparty – Watch Party for iPhone and iPad. The listing says the app requires iOS or iPadOS 17.6 or later and is designed for iPad.
Netflix’s current help documentation recommends iOS/iPadOS 18 or later for the latest Netflix app. Therefore, an iPhone or iPad running iOS 18 or later is the safest setup because it meets both relevant requirements.

Availability can vary by App Store country, Apple ID region, device, and app version. Also, the iOS app should not automatically be assumed to offer every feature of Teleparty’s desktop browser extension. Teleparty’s own support page still describes iOS as “coming soon” and gives detailed mobile instructions for Android, creating a documentation conflict with the current App Store listing.
Use the app if it is available for your device and region, but treat the exact buttons and workflow as version-dependent.

Netflix Party was renamed Teleparty. The service synchronizes playback so participants can watch the same title together and provides group text chat.
Teleparty is not an official Netflix feature and is not affiliated with Netflix. The Netflix app remains responsible for access to Netflix content; Teleparty supplies the watch-party layer.
When searching the App Store, look for Teleparty – Watch Party, and verify that the developer is WP Interactive Media, Inc. The direct App Store listing is safer than relying on search results alone.

What you need before starting
- An iPhone or iPad compatible with the current Teleparty app.
- iOS/iPadOS 17.6 or later for the listed Teleparty app.
- Preferably iOS/iPadOS 18 or later for the current Netflix app.
- The latest available versions of Teleparty and Netflix.
- Authorized access to Netflix for every participant.
- A title available in each participant’s Netflix catalog.
- A stable internet connection.
- An invitation link if you are joining someone else’s party.
A party invitation does not provide access to Netflix. Each participant generally needs access to the relevant streaming service account, and Netflix’s current plan, household, profile, and account-sharing rules still apply independently of Teleparty.
How to install Teleparty on iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store.
- Search for Teleparty – Watch Party.
- Confirm that the developer is WP Interactive Media, Inc.
- Check the compatibility information and confirm that your device meets the listed software requirement.
- Tap Get or the cloud-download icon.
- Open Teleparty and complete its sign-in or onboarding prompts.
- Open the App Store and update Netflix if an update is offered.
- Sign in to Netflix through the route presented by Teleparty.
The App Store listing shows a free download with in-app purchases. Teleparty’s displayed prices can change by country, tax, promotion, and Apple billing. The U.S. listing has shown approximately $6.59 per month and $49.99 per year, while Teleparty’s support page has shown a different annual figure. Check the purchase screen for the price that actually applies before subscribing.
How to host a Netflix Party on iPhone or iPad
Teleparty has not published a complete, current iOS-specific walkthrough. The following is the expected mobile flow based on the current app listing and Teleparty’s documented mobile workflow. Button names may differ between app versions.
- Open the Teleparty app.
- Choose Netflix or the Netflix service option.
- Sign in when prompted.
- Find the movie or episode you want to watch.
- Open the title and start playback.
- Look for a party, invite, or share control.
- Create the party.
- Copy the invitation link.
- Send it through Messages, Mail, WhatsApp, or another messaging service.
- Keep the Teleparty session open while friends join.
- Use the text-chat panel if it is available in your version of the app.
Teleparty’s Android instructions describe a similar process: sign in to a supported service, open the party area, and use an invite control to share a link. That supports the general mobile pattern, but it does not guarantee that every iPhone or iPad control will have the same name.
How to join a Netflix Party on iPhone or iPad
- Install Teleparty before opening the invitation link.
- Tap the host’s invitation link.
- If iOS asks which app should open it, choose Teleparty.
- Sign in to Netflix if prompted.
- Select the appropriate Netflix profile or title when requested.
- Tap the control to join the party.
- Start or resume playback if the video does not begin automatically.
- Confirm that the chat panel and playback controls are visible.
If the link opens in Safari instead of Teleparty, return to the app and follow any option it provides for opening or pasting a party link. Teleparty’s join troubleshooting page warns that unsupported browsers can prevent party links from working.

Generally, yes. Teleparty says each participant needs access to an account for the streaming service being watched. A party link is not a substitute for a Netflix subscription or other authorized access.

Do not assume that one Netflix subscription can simply be shared with everyone in the party. Netflix’s account, household, plan, profile, and regional rules may limit who can use an account. A plan may also affect access to particular titles, including titles restricted by an ad-supported plan.
Does everyone need to be in the same country?
Not necessarily, but the selected title generally needs to be available in every participant’s Netflix catalog. Regional licensing can make a party fail even when the invitation link is valid.
Have everyone search for the title independently before starting. A title being available to one participant does not prove that it is available to another participant in a different country. Teleparty’s regional-availability information is described in its service example pages and support documentation.

Is Teleparty free?
Teleparty is a free download with optional in-app purchases. Teleparty says its free version supports basic synchronization and text chat on supported services, while Premium adds additional services and customization. The exact iOS feature set should be checked inside the current app.
The U.S. App Store listing and Teleparty’s support page have displayed different annual-price figures. Prices can also vary by region, taxes, promotions, and Apple billing. Treat the price shown at the time of purchase as the authoritative one, and do not subscribe solely because an older guide says Premium is required for iPhone.

Fix common Teleparty problems on iPhone and iPad
The app does not appear in the App Store
Possible causes include an unsupported App Store region, an incompatible device, an outdated operating system, a changed listing, or searching for “Netflix Party” instead of “Teleparty.”

- Update the device if an update is available.
- Search for the developer name, WP Interactive Media, Inc.
- Use the desktop extension if the app is unavailable.
The invitation opens in Safari but does not join
Teleparty may not be installed, the link may have opened in an in-app browser, you may not be signed in to Netflix, or the link may belong to a different app flow.
- Open Teleparty first and sign in.
- Return to the invitation and try opening it again.
- Copy the link into Teleparty if the app provides that option.
- Update or reinstall Teleparty.
- Ask the host to create and send a new party link.
The video is out of sync
Manual pausing or scrubbing, an unstable connection, an incomplete title load, mismatched app versions, a temporary service problem, or location interference can disrupt synchronization.
- Have everyone pause.
- Ask the host to resume playback.
- Close and reopen the title.
- Leave and rejoin the party.
- Update or reinstall Teleparty.
- Test without a VPN.
- Switch to the desktop extension if the problem continues.
Teleparty specifically recommends reinstalling when persistent troubleshooting problems remain.
A friend cannot watch the selected title
The title may not be available in that person’s country, account, plan, profile, age setting, or parental-control configuration. Have each participant confirm access before creating the party, then choose a title available to everyone.

Do not assume that iOS offers the same third-party playback controls as a desktop browser. Mobile app restrictions, DRM, title availability, account permissions, or a temporary Teleparty problem may be involved. Update both apps, sign in again, reinstall Teleparty if necessary, and try the desktop route.

Use the desktop extension if iOS fails
The most fully documented fallback is Teleparty on a computer. Teleparty documents extensions for Chrome, Edge, and Opera.
- Install the Teleparty extension in a supported desktop browser.
- Sign in to the streaming service.
- Open and play the selected title.
- Click the red TP button in the browser toolbar.
- Start the party.
- Copy and share the invitation link.
Use this route when Teleparty is unavailable in your App Store region, the iPhone or iPad cannot meet the software requirement, a mobile feature is missing, or the iOS invitation flow repeatedly fails.
Important limitations
- Teleparty is not an official Netflix product.
- Every participant needs authorized access to the relevant streaming service.
- The same title must generally be available in each participant’s region.
- Teleparty’s iOS documentation is currently less complete than its desktop documentation.
- Teleparty supports text chat; voice and video chat are not documented as current standard features.
- Teleparty’s support pages may mention large party limits, but those figures should not be treated as an iOS guarantee.
- AirPlay and screen mirroring may not reproduce the desktop Teleparty experience because of app, DRM, or platform limitations.
