The phone and computer must be on the same local network; the computer can use Ethernet while the phone uses Wi-Fi, but cellular service alone will not carry this LAN feed. Streamlabs’ Android LAN Streaming guide was published March 4, 2020 and says it was last updated November 11, 2025.
Before you start
- An Android phone with Streamlabs Mobile installed and signed in. Streamlabs’ built-in LAN source instructions are for Android.
- Streamlabs Desktop running on the receiving computer.
- A shared local network: the phone may use Wi-Fi and the computer Ethernet, as long as both connect to the same network.
This method sends the phone’s camera or screen to the computer over the local network. It is different from using a phone as a remote controller or sending a stream over cellular data.
Set up the Streamlabs Mobile LAN feed
- Connect both devices to the local network. Join the phone to the Wi-Fi network used by the computer, or to the same local network if the computer is wired. Do not rely on the phone’s cellular connection for this LAN feed.
- Open LAN Streaming. In Streamlabs Mobile, open the menu and select LAN Streaming.
- Choose the feed settings. Streamlabs gives 720p and 1080p as example resolutions, suggests a bitrate of 5000 for 720p or 10000 for 1080p, and recommends leaving the encoder set to H.264/AVC. These are Streamlabs’ suggested starting settings, not universal or independently tested requirements. Choose settings that fit your network and the detail you need.
- Start the feed and retrieve its URL. Tap Next, then choose Get Stream URL. On the computer, open the displayed URL and copy the URL under Using Streamlabs. Select the FLV stream option during this setup.
Add the phone feed in Streamlabs Desktop
- In Streamlabs Desktop, add a Media Source to the scene where the phone feed should appear.
- In the source properties, clear the Local File checkbox.
- Paste the current LAN URL into the Input field and confirm the source settings.
- Check the source preview. If the feed is not visible, use the troubleshooting checks below.
The URL can change, so a saved source may stop working later. If that happens, retrieve the current URL from the phone’s LAN Streaming setup and update the Media Source input.
Fix a missing or stalled feed
- Verify the network: Confirm both devices are still on the same local network. Wi-Fi on the phone and Ethernet on the computer is fine; cellular is not the LAN route.
- Refresh the URL: Get the current URL again from Streamlabs Mobile, and confirm that the FLV stream option was selected.
- Reopen the software: If the network and URL checks do not help, Streamlabs suggests closing and reopening the streaming software.
- Adjust mobile app options if needed: Streamlabs says TCP Delay and User Feedback Pop can be adjusted under Main Menu → Advanced Settings in the mobile app.
- Check the source type: The built-in LAN URL belongs in a Desktop Media Source, not an NDI Source.
When to use NDI instead
NDI is a separate route for a phone app that sends an NDI stream. In Streamlabs Desktop, receive it as an NDI Source; do not use the LAN URL steps above as though the source types were interchangeable. Streamlabs says Desktop version 1.20.6 and later requires NDI SDK 6 or higher for NDI receiving. Install the SDK runtime and reboot. If the source does not appear, check the installation and reboot, then make sure both the sender and Desktop receiver are allowed through the firewall and the network profile is private. Streamlabs also notes that NewTek’s iPhone and Android app can turn a phone into an additional wireless NDI camera, and that other developers may offer similar apps.
