You can use OVHcloud Object Storage to hold a video, but the bucket does not itself create or loop a YouTube live stream. The workflow needs three parts: upload the file to an S3-compatible OVHcloud bucket, provide it to a playback-capable encoder that can repeat it, then send the encoder’s feed to YouTube Live using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. The exact storage-to-encoder connection and loop control depend on the encoder you choose; verify both in that encoder’s current documentation before relying on a direct object URL.
What you need for this workflow
- An OVHcloud S3 Object Storage bucket and the video file you want to play.
- An encoder or playback arrangement that can access that file and repeat playback. The bucket stores the media; it does not replace the encoder.
- A YouTube channel eligible to live stream, plus the stream URL and stream key for the broadcast.
- A stable internet connection from the encoder to YouTube with enough outbound capacity for the selected stream bitrate.
OVHcloud describes its S3-compatible Object Storage as suitable for static files, including video, and identifies video streaming as a possible use case. That does not establish that a particular encoder can fetch an object from the bucket or loop it. [OVHcloud Object Storage FAQ]
1. Upload the video to OVHcloud Object Storage
- Create or select an S3 Object Storage bucket. Choose the intended region and consult OVHcloud’s current endpoint and storage-class documentation. S3 Object Storage classes use an S3-compatible API; do not confuse them with older Swift Object Storage classes, which use a different protocol.
- Upload the video. You can use the OVHcloud control panel or an S3-compatible client. OVHcloud’s FAQ names AWS CLI and
s3cmdamong compatible access options, but the correct endpoint and command details depend on the region and service configuration. Follow the current OVHcloud endpoint guidance rather than copying a command for another region. - Keep the object private unless a deliberate access method requires otherwise. OVHcloud says stored objects are private by default. Avoid making a documentary or other source file public just to test playback.
2. Connect the stored file to a repeat-capable encoder
Before configuring YouTube, decide how the encoder will obtain the video. The encoder must be able to read the source and repeat playback continuously; the chosen product’s own documentation should confirm supported input types and its looping control.
Do not assume an S3 object URL works as an encoder input simply because the bucket has an S3-compatible API. The available OVHcloud and YouTube guidance does not confirm direct S3 playback, support for OVHcloud presigned URLs, or a specific repeat-playback setting in any encoder. If direct access is unsupported, use a documented alternative for the chosen encoder, such as downloading the file to a machine it can read or another supported relay method. Check the encoder’s current instructions for exact menus or commands.

3. Create the YouTube Live ingest
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or select the live stream you intend to use.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder. Enter them in the encoder’s YouTube or RTMP destination settings, following that encoder’s instructions. YouTube describes the key as “the password and address” for the stream. Treat it as a secret: do not put it in a public guide, screenshot, source repository, or publicly accessible bucket configuration. [YouTube encoder setup] [Manage live stream settings]
- Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview. Confirm the picture and sound are present before starting the public broadcast, then monitor stream quality after going live.
4. Check eligibility and test before a long loop
YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. If this is the channel’s first time live streaming, activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it and test ahead of the intended broadcast. [YouTube live-streaming eligibility]
Run a short test with the complete chain: object access, repeat playback, encoder output, and YouTube preview. YouTube recommends testing in advance, checking outbound bandwidth with headroom above the stream bitrate, and monitoring stream quality. A successful upload to Object Storage alone does not show that the encoder can retrieve and loop the file or that the YouTube ingest is healthy. [YouTube streaming tips]

Security and access details
Object access
OVHcloud documents presigned URLs for temporary object downloads. Anyone who obtains such a URL can download the object, so treat it like a bearer link and avoid posting it publicly. Confirm that your selected encoder accepts this kind of URL before using one; support is not established by the storage documentation. [OVHcloud Object Storage FAQ]
YouTube stream key
Never expose the stream key in public configuration or screenshots. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder with the replacement. [YouTube stream settings]

Troubleshooting the three-part chain
