If Joy News or Joy Prime is missing, first determine whether the problem affects one channel, several channels, or the entire service. Check the platform’s current channel guide and your account status before changing cables or rescanning. Investigate the satellite connection only when several channels disappear, a signal message appears, or reception is intermittent; otherwise, the problem is more likely a lineup, entitlement, or broadcaster issue.
Use this order: note the exact error, confirm the channel in the current guide, check package and account access, test reception if the symptoms point to signal trouble, then contact the platform. Channel numbers and lineups can change, so an old number is not proof that a channel has been removed.
Identify what has actually failed

Joy News
MultiTV’s Joy News channel information lists Joy News on DStv channel 421, GOtv channel 144, and the MultiTV Box. These are the listings published on that page, not a permanent guarantee: providers can reorganise channels, and availability can differ by account, package, country, or device. Search by the channel name in your decoder’s current guide and compare the result with the provider’s present channel page.

Joy Prime
MultiTV lists Joy Prime and Joy News among its channels. An older official GOtv Ghana grid listed Joy Prime as 124 and Joy News as 125, but that document is dated and may have been superseded. Do not treat 124 or 125 as guaranteed current numbers. If a number fails, use the live guide or provider support rather than deleting the service or repeatedly entering the old number.
MultiTV’s page also embeds a live player. Its availability, geographic restrictions, and uninterrupted carriage of both channels have not been established, so regard it as a possible viewing route rather than a guaranteed substitute.
Follow a step-by-step diagnosis
1. Capture the symptom before changing settings
- Write down whether Joy News, Joy Prime, or both are affected.
- Test two or three unrelated channels on the same decoder.
- Record the exact wording and code on the screen, such as a scrambled-service, subscription, unavailable-channel, or searching-for-signal message.
- Note whether the failure is continuous, intermittent, or limited to a particular time.
This information separates an entitlement problem from a reception problem and gives support staff something more useful than “the channel is not showing.”
2. Verify the channel in the live guide
Open the decoder’s electronic programme guide and search for “Joy News” and “Joy Prime” by name. Check that the service is listed for your country and package. If the guide shows a different number, use that number; channel numbering is not fixed across platforms or over time.

If the guide does not list the channel at all, check the provider’s current website or account notice before rescanning. A missing listing can reflect a lineup change or entitlement rule rather than a fault in your installation. The old GOtv Ghana numbers 124 and 125 should not be used as a current guarantee.

3. Check subscription and account access
A channel can be visible in a guide but still be inaccessible because the account is inactive, the package does not include it, or the service is not authorised in the country or region. Confirm that your payment or renewal has completed and that the decoder is linked to the correct account. Ask support to verify the specific channel, not merely whether the account is generally active.
DStv’s published error-code guide, which is for Nigeria, illustrates the distinctions support teams make:

Do not copy a Nigeria-specific package rule or channel number to Ghana. The value of the error page here is diagnostic vocabulary: it helps you describe whether the failure concerns access or reception.

4. Check reception only when the symptoms justify it
MultiTV describes its service as direct-to-home satellite television. If several channels vanish, the picture breaks up, or the decoder reports that it is searching for signal, inspect the satellite coaxial cable from the dish or wall outlet to the decoder. Make sure each connector is firmly seated and that the cable is not visibly crushed, cut, or pulled out of the connector.
- Turn the decoder off using the provider’s normal shutdown procedure.
- Check both cable ends for looseness, corrosion, or visible damage.
- Reconnect a sound connector firmly without forcing it.
- Turn the decoder back on and check whether several channels return.
- Use only the rescan or signal procedure documented by your provider. The available material does not establish a universal MultiTV button sequence or a Ghana-specific DStv rescan path.
A replacement satellite coaxial cable is relevant only when the existing cable or connection is visibly damaged or has failed. The available platform information does not establish a particular cable specification, connector type, or repair method. A new cable cannot restore a broadcaster outage, an inactive subscription, or a changed channel lineup. Do not open electrical equipment, climb to a dish, or realign a dish unless you are qualified to do so; arrange professional service instead.

5. Consider a broadcaster or platform outage
A channel can be unavailable even when your account and reception are healthy. On May 23, 2024, Multimedia Group Limited announced that Joy News, Joy Prime, and Adom TV were off-air because of power fluctuations while its technical team worked on restoration. That notice is historical evidence that a broadcaster-level interruption can affect all three services at once; it does not establish that those channels are off-air today.
Check the provider’s current notice, official social account, or support response before repeatedly changing your installation. If neighbours using the same platform report the same channels missing while unrelated channels remain normal, tell support that the symptom appears widespread.
6. Contact the correct support team
DStv Ghana
DStv Ghana provides several account and support routes:
- MyDStv app for account and service checks.
- WhatsApp: +233 24 242 6050. Have your Smartcard Number and surname ready.
- USSD: *759#. Dial it from the mobile number registered on the account.
- Online chat through the DStv Ghana support site.
- Email: [email protected].
Include your country, decoder or Smartcard details when requested, the affected channel, the number shown in your current guide, the exact error code, and whether other channels work. Do not publish your Smartcard number or surname in a public forum.
MultiTV
MultiTV publishes these enquiry contacts:

Tell MultiTV whether you are using a MultiTV Box or another listed route, whether both Joy channels are affected, and whether the rest of the service has a signal. Ask specifically whether there is a current lineup change or known interruption.

7. Use an alternative viewing route carefully
DStv Ghana describes DStv Stream as available to decoder customers and also offers a streaming-only subscription option. Its Ghana watch page lists Joy Prime and Joy News. Streaming access can still depend on the account, package, device, and current lineup, so sign in and verify that each channel is available before paying for a new option or assuming that a decoder subscription automatically includes both streams.

Platform-specific checks
DStv Ghana decoder
- Search the live guide for Joy News and Joy Prime rather than relying on a remembered number.
- Use MyDStv or the Ghana support channels to confirm package and account entitlement.
- If the decoder reports scrambled or subscription-related access, resolve the account issue before touching the satellite cable.
- If it reports searching for signal and other channels are affected, inspect the connection and follow DStv’s documented signal procedure.
- If only one channel is absent and the guide still lists it, ask support whether there is a channel-specific or broadcaster interruption.
GOtv Ghana
- Use the current GOtv electronic guide. The published MultiTV listing gives Joy News as 144, but lineups can change.
- Do not rely on the older grid that showed Joy Prime at 124 and Joy News at 125; those numbers are historical and may no longer apply.
- Check whether the channel is included in the active package and whether the account is authorised in Ghana.
- If multiple services disappear, document the signal message and contact the provider rather than repeatedly entering old channel numbers.
MultiTV Box
- Search the box’s current list for both channel names; no universal number is established for the box in the available channel information.
- Because the service is direct-to-home satellite television, treat a multi-channel signal loss differently from a single missing listing.
- Check the cable and connectors only for visible or suspected connection faults, and use MultiTV’s published email or telephone contact for lineup and outage questions.
- The live player on MultiTV’s site may provide an alternative, but its current geographic and service availability must be verified when you try it.
When a rescan helps—and when it does not
A rescan is appropriate only when the provider instructs you to perform one or when the decoder’s symptoms indicate that services or frequencies need to be searched again. It will not activate an unpaid or incompatible package, restore a broadcaster that is off-air, or create a channel that has been removed from the lineup. Before scanning, record your current error and guide information so support can see what changed.
If a rescan completes but Joy News or Joy Prime is still absent while other channels work, return to the guide, account, and outage checks. Do not keep repeating the scan; repeated scans can make it harder to compare the original symptom with the current service list.
What not to do
- Do not assume that an old channel number proves a current outage.
- Do not use a Nigeria-specific DStv error instruction as Ghana policy.
- Do not replace a cable when the message clearly indicates an inactive subscription or country restriction.
- Do not promise yourself that a particular DStv Stream package includes both channels until the signed-in account confirms it.
- Do not treat the May 23, 2024 power-fluctuation notice as evidence of a present-day outage.
- Do not attempt dish alignment or electrical repairs beyond your competence.

One channel missing, no signal warning: verify the current guide, package, region, and broadcaster notices, then contact platform support.

Several channels missing or “searching for signal” appears: check the coaxial connection and follow the provider’s signal or rescan instructions; escalate if reception does not return.
All services missing: record the exact message, check account status, and contact the platform. Treat it as a service, decoder, account, or reception problem rather than a Joy-channel numbering issue.
Decoder unavailable but internet works: check the signed-in DStv Stream account or MultiTV player for current availability, while recognising that online access has its own package and geographic restrictions.
What information to send in a support request
- Country and town or region.
- Platform and hardware: DStv decoder, GOtv decoder, or MultiTV Box.
- Affected channel names and the number shown in the current guide.
- Exact on-screen error code or message.
- Whether other channels work and whether the problem is continuous or intermittent.
- Whether you have already checked the cable, confirmed the account, or followed a provider-directed rescan.
