One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo loop a rights-cleared Kannada bhajan recording into YouTube Live, configure FFmpeg with -stream_loop -1 before the media input, encode to YouTube’s supported settings, and send the output to the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. The loop repeats the input; it does not guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast. Your computer, network, FFmpeg process, YouTube ingest, channel status, and content rights can all affect continuity.
Before you start
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. See YouTube’s live streaming eligibility guidance.
- Confirm you have permission to stream the particular recording, artwork, and other material in the broadcast. A bhajan’s devotional or traditional subject does not by itself make a particular recording free to use.
- Install an FFmpeg build with the encoders you intend to use. Available codecs depend on how FFmpeg was built; check the installed build before choosing a command.
- Prepare a local copy of the media and enough stable upload bandwidth for the chosen output. Test the full loop and inspect YouTube’s preview before making it public.
Create a YouTube Live encoder stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule a stream and choose an encoder workflow.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown by YouTube. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it in a script repository, tutorial, screenshot, or public chat.
- Prefer the RTMPS ingest URL when YouTube provides it and your FFmpeg build supports it. RTMPS encrypts the connection to YouTube.
YouTube’s workflow and stream setup guidance are available in its Live Control Room documentation.
How do I loop audio or video in FFmpeg?
FFmpeg’s -stream_loop is an input option. Set it before the input it should repeat: -stream_loop -1 requests infinite looping, while -stream_loop 0 means no looping. Consult the FFmpeg command-line documentation for option behavior and placement.
For a video file that already contains both picture and sound, the essential input pattern is:

ffmpeg -stream_loop -1 -re -i "bhajan-video.mp4" ...
The ellipsis is not an executable command: you still need to choose compatible encoding options and append the YouTube ingest destination. For audio-only input, use the same loop option before the audio input, and provide a visual stream as well if your selected YouTube broadcast configuration requires video. A still image or simple visual can be paired with the audio, but exact filter and mapping options depend on the files and FFmpeg build; do not assume one universal command fits every combination.

Choose encoder settings for the actual output
YouTube’s published encoder guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS transport; H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate encoding; and frame rates up to 60 fps. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says the interval should not exceed four seconds. Use YouTube’s current live encoder settings and bitrate guidance to select the bitrate row for your actual codec, resolution, and frame rate.
- Resolution and frame rate: Choose a mode your source, computer, and stable upstream connection can sustain. A devotional audio stream with a still or simple visual generally does not need unnecessary motion or a demanding frame rate.
- Video codec: Select a codec supported by both your FFmpeg build and the chosen YouTube ingest workflow. H.264 is a common compatible choice, but match YouTube’s current requirements and your hardware.
- Bitrate: Use the bitrate range YouTube lists for the exact codec, resolution, and frame rate. There is no single safe bitrate for every stream; leave headroom for normal upload variation.
- Keyframes and rate control: Use constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval where possible; do not exceed four seconds.
- Audio: AAC or MP3 are listed audio choices. Listen to the preview to confirm the bhajan is audible, balanced, and not clipping.
Check the FFmpeg build’s available encoders if an option is rejected. Software and hardware encoders may have different names and capabilities, so do not copy an encoder name without confirming it exists in your installation.

Send the loop to YouTube and verify it
- Build the FFmpeg command using the looped input, compatible audio/video encoding options, and the server URL plus stream key copied from Live Control Room. Avoid saving a real key in a file that will be shared or committed publicly.
- Start FFmpeg and check Live Control Room for an incoming preview. If the stream is scheduled, use the preview to verify picture, sound, and stream health.
- When manual start is enabled, click Go live in Live Control Room after the encoder feed is ready.
- Test representative media and let the file reach its loop boundary before relying on the setup. Monitor stream health and audio/video quality during operation.
- If an archive matters, keep a local recording and confirm it is growing. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all; its guidance recommends a local backup. See YouTube’s live stream archiving guidance.
What “continuous” means with a local FFmpeg loop
-stream_loop -1 repeats an input indefinitely while FFmpeg continues running. It does not restart a crashed encoder or protect against power loss, a failed network connection, a missing or damaged source file, YouTube ingest problems, account restrictions, or rights claims. Process supervision and connection monitoring are operational choices, not guarantees. Test recovery behavior rather than assuming that the loop alone provides 24/7 uptime.
Archive duration is a separate constraint from looping. If you need a replay, plan shorter sessions that stay under YouTube’s 12-hour threshold or record locally and verify the recording independently.

Rights and live-stream interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can replace the broadcast with a placeholder, and continued use of the matched content can interrupt or terminate the stream. If you have licensed third-party music, YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; otherwise the stream can still be interrupted. Review YouTube’s live stream copyright guidance and secure rights for the recording and every visual asset you use.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Troubleshooting common FFmpeg-to-YouTube problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not show an incoming preview | Wrong server URL or key, unsupported transport, or encoder not sending a compatible stream | Copy the current server URL and key from Live Control Room, check the RTMPS URL and FFmpeg support, and inspect FFmpeg’s output for connection or encoding errors. |
| The input plays once and stops | -stream_loop -1 is missing or placed after the input it should affect |
Put the option before the relevant -i input and test through a complete loop boundary. |
| Audio is missing or distorted | Incorrect stream mapping, unsupported audio encoding, absent audio in the source, or clipping | Verify the source has the expected audio stream, use a supported AAC or MP3 output, inspect the preview, and listen at a representative level. |
| Video stutters or stream health degrades | Output bitrate exceeds stable upload capacity, or the computer cannot encode the selected mode reliably | Choose YouTube’s bitrate guidance for a lower sustainable resolution or frame rate, leave upload headroom, and test representative motion before going live. |
| The broadcast stops despite the loop setting | FFmpeg exited, the computer or network failed, ingest was interrupted, or the channel/content encountered a restriction | Check FFmpeg logs, host and network status, Live Control Room health, channel eligibility, and rights notices. The loop option does not automatically resolve these failures. |
| The live video is available but no replay appears | The event exceeded YouTube’s archive threshold or archive capture otherwise did not complete | Keep sessions under 12 hours when an automatic archive is important, and make a separate local recording. |
| A placeholder appears or the stream is interrupted after a music match | YouTube detected third-party content, or a licensed track’s owner has not allowlisted the channel | Use content you are authorized to stream and resolve rights or allowlisting with the relevant owner before restarting. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Does -stream_loop -1 keep YouTube Live online if FFmpeg crashes?
No. It repeats the input only while FFmpeg is running; it does not restart a failed process or restore a lost connection.
Can I use any Kannada bhajan recording because the song is devotional?
No. Rights depend on the specific recording and other included material, and YouTube can interrupt a live stream after a content match.
