Yes. Cox TV customers can watch live channels and On Demand programming in a computer browser at watchtv.cox.com. You need an active Cox TV subscription, a Cox User ID and password, and an internet connection. The online lineup can differ from your TV receiver: subscription, location and licensing restrictions may make some channels or programs unavailable, especially away from home.
Can you watch Cox TV on a computer?
Yes. Cox directs computer users to its Contour web player at watchtv.cox.com. It runs in a browser on a laptop or desktop; Cox’s current instructions do not direct computer users to install a dedicated Windows or macOS Contour app. Online viewing includes live TV and On Demand titles for eligible Cox TV subscribers, subject to package and program availability. Cox’s online viewing overview describes this access as part of a qualifying TV subscription, not as a separate free service for people without Cox TV.
The browser player, the Contour app and a Contour receiver are related but distinct ways to access Cox TV. Cox presents its Contour app for supported mobile and streaming-TV devices as well as online viewing through the website. A receiver is physical equipment connected to a television, and its channel lineup and features need not match what is available in a browser. - An active Cox TV subscription: The channels you can watch depend on the package and the program’s availability.
- Your Cox User ID and password: Use the credentials associated with the TV account. A modem or gateway’s local administrator login is not the same thing.
- A computer and internet connection: Streaming requires internet access. The verified requirement is internet access; it does not, by itself, establish that the connection must be Cox internet. - A current browser with normal playback features enabled: JavaScript, cookies and protected-media playback can matter for sign-in and video. Cox maintains a minimum-requirements and supported-devices page, but exact current browser versions should be checked there rather than guessed.
- An eligible account and location: Some channels or titles have restrictions based on the subscription, location or content rights.
Cox says streaming usage counts toward applicable Cox data plans. If you use a Cox internet plan with a data allowance, account for that usage when you stream. Cox online viewing details

How to sign in and start watching
- Open a current browser on your laptop or desktop.
- Type https://watchtv.cox.com/ into the address bar. Use the official Cox domain rather than a third-party page advertising a Cox login.
- Select Sign In.
- Enter the Cox User ID and password linked to the TV account. If Cox presents an account-security or verification prompt, complete it.
- Once signed in, open the live TV guide to browse channels, or go to On Demand to choose a title.
- Select a channel or program and use its playback control.
Cox’s instructions also describe a separate University Sign In option for eligible university-linked accounts. If that applies to your account, choose the matching sign-in route rather than repeatedly trying standard credentials. Contour sign-in instructions
How to watch live channels
After signing in, open the live TV guide, browse by channel or time, and select a program that is airing. The guide reflects the channels and programming available to your account; a channel shown on a Cox receiver is not guaranteed to play in the browser. If the guide offers filters or favorites, use them to narrow the listings. A missing or unavailable channel may mean it is not included in your package, is restricted outside the home, has a network-specific authentication rule, or is subject to regional or other licensing limits. Local stations, regional sports, premium networks and live events can be particularly affected. Check the channel lineup for your Cox service area and package at Cox’s channel lineup tool; lineup availability does not guarantee browser playback of every program.

How to watch On Demand and purchased titles
Choose the On Demand section after signing in, browse or search for a title, and open its details before playing it. Check whether the title is included with your TV package, requires a premium subscription or has a separate charge. Cox’s purchased-content terms say purchased titles may remain viewable online at watchtv.cox.com with the Cox User ID and password even after TV service is canceled. Continued access is not guaranteed in every case: licensing and other restrictions can affect availability. Cox’s posted terms also state that purchases are generally final and non-transferable. Review the current Cox purchased-content terms before buying.
Can you watch DVR recordings on a computer?
Cox describes access to recordings through the Contour experience, but that does not establish that every DVR recording can be played in a web browser. If your package and DVR support remote access, look for a DVR or Recordings section after signing in. Watching Cox TV away from home
Remote viewing is available for some Contour programming, but the out-of-home lineup may be smaller than the in-home lineup. Sign in with the Cox account and use the available-out-of-home filter where offered. A channel or program can still be blocked by subscription, network, regional or licensing rules. Cox does not establish in these materials that viewing is supported everywhere while traveling internationally; do not assume that access will work abroad or try to bypass location controls with a VPN. Browser and computer requirements
Use a currently maintained browser and consult Cox’s current requirements page for supported devices and any updated browser details. Do not rely on an old browser-version list or legacy specifications: the available Cox materials do not establish a dependable current minimum version for Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox.
If the site loads but playback does not, check that JavaScript and cookies are allowed for Cox sites and that the browser permits protected media. Privacy extensions, ad blockers, script blockers and VPNs can interfere with sign-in, location checks or playback. These are troubleshooting possibilities, not proof that any one setting is always required or that disabling protection is appropriate in every case.

Fix common Cox TV streaming problems
The website will not load
- Confirm the address is watchtv.cox.com, then refresh the page.
- Try a private or incognito window. If it works there, a saved cookie, extension or site setting may be involved.
- Try another current browser to distinguish a browser-specific problem from an account or service issue.
- Temporarily disable browser extensions that block ads, scripts or tracking, and disconnect a VPN for a diagnostic test. Restore protections that are not causing the problem.
- Check that JavaScript and cookies are enabled for Cox domains. If needed, clear site data for cox.com and watchtv.cox.com, then close and reopen the browser.
- Check Cox support resources or service status. If multiple devices have the same problem, investigate the account or service rather than repeatedly changing browser settings. Contour troubleshooting and loading and crashing help
Cox community users have also reported browser extensions, cookies and site permissions in connection with web-player loading problems; those reports are anecdotal, not a guaranteed Cox fix. Cox community discussion
Sign-in fails
- Confirm that you are entering the Cox User ID, not an unrelated saved email or the modem’s administrator credentials.
- Check that the password works on Cox’s main account site; remove old autofilled credentials if necessary.
- Verify that the account has an active TV subscription and complete any verification prompt.
- If the account is university-linked, use the separate university sign-in option when it is offered.
- Allow Cox cookies or retry in a private window. If the account works for billing but not for Contour, contact Cox rather than repeatedly resetting settings.
A channel is missing or blocked
Check that the channel is included in your package, then consider whether you are outside the home or whether the network has separate authentication or rights restrictions. Confirm that you are signed into the correct Cox account and review the local lineup at Cox’s channel lineup tool. - Try another website to see whether the issue is limited to Cox or affects the connection generally.
- Pause large downloads and other streams, and move closer to the Wi-Fi router or use Ethernet if practical.
- Check whether one channel is affected or all playback is affected; a single program can have a different issue from the connection.
- If other services are also struggling, restart the browser and, where appropriate, the router. Check Cox service status before changing account settings.

Audio is missing or in the wrong language
Check the player’s audio or SAP options, the computer’s selected output device and volume, and whether the browser tab is muted. Some programs may offer only certain audio tracks. If the problem occurs on one channel or program, it may be specific to that content rather than a computer-wide setting.
Playback is blocked
Playback can be blocked because the title is not licensed for browser use, the channel is restricted outside the home, the account does not include it, the browser cannot provide required protected-media playback, or an extension or VPN is interfering with a location or playback check. A service outage is another possibility. Contact Cox for account or service help rather than attempting to bypass subscription or geographic restrictions.
Browser, app, receiver or network app?

Accessibility and captions
For captions or other accessibility controls, check the player controls and the options available for the particular program. Cox also offers an accessible web remote for controlling Contour equipment from a computer or tablet, including support for assistive technologies such as switch controllers and eye-gaze software. That remote is a control interface for Contour equipment; it is not the same feature as streaming the full TV service in a browser. Cox accessibility information
