To stream an Odia radio station continuously on YouTube, route an authorized feed from the station’s console or playout system into an encoder, pair it with a suitable visual, and send it to YouTube Live using the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. A 24/7 broadcast takes ongoing operation and monitoring: YouTube does not promise that one stream will run indefinitely or be archived in full. Before going live, confirm that the channel is eligible, the signal path works, and the station has the rights needed for the music, performances, territories, and any archive.
Check channel eligibility before setting up
YouTube’s live-streaming overview says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. The overview also states a minimum age of 16 to livestream. Check YouTube’s current requirements and the channel’s Live Control Room before announcing a broadcast; first-time live access may take time to become available.
Prepare the station’s audio and video signal
Route the authorized audio feed
Choose an output from the radio console or playout system and identify its connector and signal level. Connect it to the encoder computer’s compatible input. If the computer lacks a suitable input, an audio interface may be needed, but not every station requires one. Confirm the output type, number of channels, interface compatibility, and levels before buying equipment. YouTube’s live-streaming tips describe encoder workflows that can use external audio and video hardware.
Provide a visual presentation
YouTube’s encoder workflow is for a live audio/video signal, so prepare a visual such as a program graphic, studio camera, or other suitable presentation. Make sure the station owns or has permission to use that visual and any included artwork or video. A still image does not make the accompanying music or other material rights-free.

Create the YouTube stream and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream using YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Copy the stream server URL and stream key shown for that stream into the encoder. Keep the stream key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to the stream.
- Select the station’s audio and video sources in the encoder, then start sending the feed. Confirm that Live Control Room detects the incoming signal before sharing the watch page.
- Check playback on the public or unlisted watch page from a separate device. Listen for clean, continuous audio and verify that the visual appears as intended.
Choose settings your connection can sustain
YouTube recommends RTMPS, which Google describes as RTMP tunneled through an SSL connection. Use the current RTMPS guidance and YouTube’s encoder settings table to match the encoder configuration to the chosen resolution, frame rate, and codec.
For H.264, YouTube lists these recommended video bitrates: 3 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps and 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. Its settings page recommends CBR and AAC or MP3 audio; the listed stereo audio bitrate recommendation is 128 Kbps. These are ingest configuration recommendations, not a promise of uninterrupted delivery or a guarantee that a particular Internet connection can sustain them.

Measure the station’s upload capacity under normal operating conditions and leave headroom for other network use. Choose settings the encoder and connection can reliably maintain, then run a test stream and inspect YouTube’s stream-health indicators. Recheck YouTube’s current settings table for the exact codec and frame-rate combination you plan to use.
Clear music and other rights for YouTube
A terrestrial radio permission does not by itself establish that a station may simulcast the same material on YouTube or keep an online archive. Check the rights for the actual repertoire, recordings and performances; the territories where the stream will be available; the live simulcast; and any retained recording. Requirements vary by territory and by the station’s rights arrangements, so confirm them with the relevant rights holders and licensing bodies.

YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.”
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. Its copyright guidance for live streams says it may replace a stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it when it detects third-party content, including another live broadcast. Even licensed content can trigger an interruption if the channel is not on the rights holder’s Content ID allowlist. An archive may also receive Content ID claims after the stream ends. Ask the relevant rights holder about allowlisting where applicable; a licence alone does not ensure uninterrupted playback.

Operate a continuous stream with monitoring and recovery
A continuous station stream is an operating responsibility, not an indefinite-stream guarantee from YouTube. Monitor Live Control Room and the viewer-facing watch page, and assign someone to respond to an encoder, power, or Internet interruption. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend testing and monitoring the signal path and checking failover where available.
- Verify that the console or playout output reaches the encoder and that audio levels remain usable.
- Check that video is present and that the public watch page plays on a separate device.
- Plan how the station will restart the encoder or restore the feed after a connection or power failure.
- If backup power, Internet, or encoding equipment is available, test the switch to it rather than assuming it will work when needed.
Plan stream boundaries and archives
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but this does not mean a continuous station should assume one indefinite broadcast or a complete archive. Decide how the station will handle stream boundaries, restarts, and recordings, then verify the behavior in its own channel. For a 24/7 operation, test the chosen schedule and archive workflow before relying on it for listeners or records.

Common problems and fixes
- YouTube does not show the incoming feed: Recheck that the encoder uses the server URL and stream key for the intended stream, then confirm the encoder is sending and the channel has live access enabled.
- Audio is missing, distorted, or too quiet: Check the console output, cable and input selection, audio-interface routing if used, and encoder meters. Confirm the signal level is compatible with the input.
- Stream health warns of instability: Check upload capacity and competing network traffic, then lower the encoder bitrate or resolution to a level the connection can sustain. Retest before relying on the feed.
- The stream is interrupted over music: Review the specific YouTube copyright notice and the rights for the material. Contact the rights holder about applicable Content ID allowlisting; do not assume a terrestrial permission prevents platform action.
- The archive is incomplete or absent: Check the stream’s duration and the channel’s archive result. YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours; plan shorter boundaries and verify the channel’s workflow rather than relying on a single long broadcast.
