To stream a prerecorded yoga nidra video continuously on YouTube Live, create a live event in YouTube Studio, copy its stream URL and key, then send your video to YouTube with FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 option. The example below loops the file indefinitely while encoding a 30 fps H.264/AAC feed. Test it in an unlisted event before sharing a public stream.
Before you start
- FFmpeg: Install FFmpeg on a computer that can remain connected to the internet for the duration of the broadcast. Confirm it is available in your terminal by running
ffmpeg -version. - An eligible YouTube channel: Live streaming must be enabled. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- A suitable video file: Check that the yoga nidra recording plays from beginning to end and has the intended audio. Make sure you have the rights to broadcast both the video and its audio; a yoga nidra subject does not create an exception to copyright rules.
- A stable upload connection: The connection needs to sustain the stream’s video and audio bitrate. YouTube advises testing the actual stream and monitoring stream health before going live.
Create a YouTube Live event and get the stream key
- Open YouTube Studio’s encoder setup flow and create or schedule a live stream.
- Set the event title, visibility and other details. For a first run, use an unlisted test event where appropriate so you can check playback before promoting it.
- Choose the encoder workflow and copy the stream URL and stream key shown in YouTube Studio. Depending on how the encoder accepts the settings, you may enter these separately or combine the key with the URL.
- Keep the key private. YouTube describes it as similar to a password and address: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your channel. If it is compromised, a channel owner or manager can reset it in Studio.
YouTube recommends RTMPS for an encrypted connection. Its API documentation describes the ingestion address and stream name fields: LiveStreams | YouTube Live Streaming API.
Run FFmpeg with an indefinitely looping input
Use this example as a starting point for a 30 fps H.264 video and AAC audio stream. Replace yoga-nidra.mp4 with your file name and replace the example destination with the exact RTMPS address and key YouTube provides. Do not publish a command containing your real key.
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i yoga-nidra.mp4
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -tune zerolatency
-pix_fmt yuv420p -r 30 -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv 'rtmps://INGESTION_URL/STREAM_KEY'
-stream_loop -1 is an input option that repeats the input indefinitely, so it must appear before that input’s -i. -re reads the file at real-time speed rather than sending it as fast as the computer can process it. FFmpeg documents these options in its command-line reference.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set a bitrate for your source and connection
The example intentionally leaves video bitrate unspecified: choose it for your output resolution, frame rate and codec, and for the upload connection you can sustain. YouTube’s published H.264 recommendations include 10 Mbps for 1080p30 and 6 Mbps for 720p30. Those are platform recommendations, not guarantees that every connection can reliably carry them. Check YouTube’s current encoder settings and bitrate guidance for the resolution and frame rate you intend to use.
YouTube currently recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a keyframe interval of two seconds (no more than four seconds), and RTMPS for encryption. In this 30 fps example, -g 60 sets a 60-frame GOP, or two seconds; the audio settings use AAC at 128 Kbps, YouTube’s recommended stereo audio bitrate. The example uses H.264 encoding so the output frame rate and keyframe interval are controlled. A different source or output format may need different settings.

Check the preview before making the stream public
- Start FFmpeg and open the event’s Live Control Room in YouTube Studio.
- Wait for the incoming feed and preview. Check that the video and audio are present, in sync and playing as expected.
- Review YouTube’s stream-health messages. If you see buffering or poor health, compare the selected bitrate with your available upload capacity; lower the resolution or bitrate and test again if needed.
- Once the test looks right, start or switch to the intended public event and share it with viewers.
- When the broadcast is finished, stop FFmpeg. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that guidance does not establish archive behavior for streams longer than 12 hours.
Common problems and fixes
| Problem | What to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No preview in YouTube Studio | The stream URL or key may be wrong, outdated or entered in the wrong format. | Compare the encoder destination with the current values in Studio. Confirm whether your encoder expects URL and key in separate fields or combined. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in Studio and update FFmpeg. |
| Buffering or poor stream health | The upload connection may not sustain the chosen bitrate. | Run a speed test, lower the resolution or bitrate, then conduct another test stream. Use YouTube’s recommendations as targets to evaluate against your connection, not as a substitute for testing. |
| The picture loops, but audio or timing is wrong | The source’s streams, timestamps or encoding may not suit this exact command. | Check the file’s audio and video from beginning to end, then test it in a short unlisted event. The command is a starting point, not a fix for every source-file issue. |
| The stream stops or will not stay live | The computer, FFmpeg process or internet connection may have stopped, or the channel may not be eligible to stream. | Check that the computer and network remain available, review Studio’s messages, and confirm live streaming is enabled for the channel. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a computer at home to run FFmpeg for the whole broadcast, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload the yoga nidra recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the upload from the cloud; it does not broadcast from a camera.
