Short answer: You can use a Jio Cloud virtual machine as the host for an encoder that sends a live audio/video feed to YouTube, but the available JioCloud documentation does not establish a supported way to automate playback of an existing YouTube playlist or guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 streaming. For a legitimate broadcast, use media you own or are licensed to stream, configure a YouTube Live event, and send the encoder’s output to it.
What “stream a YouTube playlist” can mean
There are two different workflows behind this phrase. A VM-hosted encoder can broadcast a continuous feed made from video files you are entitled to use. That is not the same as running YouTube as a background player to play existing YouTube videos. YouTube’s documented live workflow is an encoder sending audio and video to a Live event; it does not document a Jio Cloud method for continuously playing a YouTube playlist.
- Legitimate live broadcast: Prepare your own or licensed media as an encoder input, then send that feed to YouTube Live.
- Automated YouTube viewing: Do not treat a VM or API client as a way to play YouTube videos in the background or generate views. YouTube’s API policies prohibit background-player features and automated actions such as views without prior specific and express user consent. They also prohibit downloading, caching, or storing audiovisual content without prior written approval. YouTube API Services Developer Policies.
The instructions below cover the first workflow only. They are not a tested JioCloud configuration, and they do not establish that a stream will stay online indefinitely.
What to verify before using a Jio Cloud VM
“JioCloud” can refer to more than one service. The JioAICloud terms describe consumer file hosting through a web portal and mobile app; that is not documentation for an enterprise VM. JioCloud’s enterprise block-storage datasheet describes volumes attachable to Linux and Windows VMs, but it does not establish what storage is bundled with a VM or what is available for your account, region, or plan. Before choosing a VM, check current JioCloud account or provider documentation for the specific service and region. The surfaced material does not verify current VM sizes, operating-system images, public IP setup, sustained outbound throughput, egress charges, uptime commitments, GPU requirements, or process-restart options. Do not infer these from a consumer storage plan or from another cloud provider’s specifications.
- Confirm the VM can run your chosen encoder and handle the media format. If you plan to encode on the VM, verify CPU capacity for the selected resolution and frame rate.
- Confirm where the source files will live, how they attach to the VM, and whether storage and outbound data transfer incur separate charges.
- Check that the VM’s reliable upload capacity can sustain the full stream bitrate with headroom, including any backup feed.
- Find out how to keep the encoder process running and whether your VM plan offers a suitable restart or monitoring mechanism. Neither is established by the surfaced JioCloud documentation.
Prepare the YouTube Live event
- Check channel eligibility. Your channel must be verified and must have had no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. If you are enabling live streaming for the first time, activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming enablement guidance.
- Create or select a stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that event.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it as a credential, do not publish it or place it in a public script or log, and reset it in YouTube Studio if it is exposed. YouTube’s encoder guide explains stream setup and key handling: Set up your encoder for live streaming.
- Choose encoder settings supported by both the encoder and YouTube. YouTube’s guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS with H.264, H.265, or AV1, supports up to 60 fps, recommends constant bitrate (CBR), and recommends a two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS as the encrypted option. Check its current bitrate guidance for the chosen resolution and frame rate rather than assuming one bitrate suits every video.
- Test before going public. Send representative footage with motion and audio, then check the Live Control Room’s stream health and messages before publishing. YouTube advises testing before a live stream; a successful local encode alone does not prove the VM’s outbound path is reliable.
Configure and run the VM-hosted encoder
The exact controls depend on the encoder and the JioCloud VM image you select. The general workflow is to give the encoder authorized source media, configure its output for YouTube Live, and verify the result in the Live Control Room. The available JioCloud material is not enough to responsibly specify a current console path, VM size, install command, service manager, or Jio-specific firewall rule.

- Place authorized media where the VM can read it. Use files you own or have permission to broadcast. Do not download YouTube videos to assemble the playlist.
- Build the sequence in the encoder. Add the files in the order you want them played and configure repeat or scheduling behavior if the encoder supports it. Confirm whether transitions, audio levels, aspect ratio, and file formats behave as intended.
- Set the output. Enter the YouTube server URL and stream key into the encoder. Select RTMPS where supported, a YouTube-compatible codec, CBR, the desired resolution and frame rate, and a two-second keyframe interval (never above four seconds).
- Check bandwidth with margin. YouTube recommends about 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the total bitrate. Include both primary and backup feeds in the total if you send both. A VM’s advertised port speed does not establish the sustained capacity available to your stream.
- Start privately or with a test event. Confirm picture, sound, stream health, and playlist transitions before using the intended public event.
- Plan for operations. Arrange monitoring and a way to restart the encoder if it stops, based on features verified for your VM and encoder. Check the stream after any VM reboot, software update, media change, or network interruption; automatic recovery is not established for a JioCloud setup.
Can a VM keep a YouTube live stream running 24/7?
A VM can host an encoder, but that alone is not evidence of an uninterrupted 24/7 service. Network disruption can break the feed, and the surfaced material does not verify a JioCloud uptime target, sustained egress, or automatic process recovery for this use. YouTube’s encoder guide says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; that is an archive detail, not proof that longer streams are impossible or a promise that a longer broadcast will remain continuous. Check current YouTube event behavior and your own monitoring and restart arrangements before relying on a long-running stream. YouTube live-stream archiving guidance.
Common problems and what to check
- You cannot start a live event: Verify channel status and live-stream eligibility. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
- YouTube receives no feed: Recheck the event’s server URL and stream key, confirm the encoder is actually sending, and inspect the Live Control Room’s messages. Reset the key if it may have been exposed.
- Unstable stream health or dropped connection: Check sustained VM upload capacity, network interruptions, and bitrate. Leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom beyond total bitrate, counting a backup feed if used.
- Video stutters or fails to play smoothly: Confirm codec compatibility, CBR configuration, frame rate, keyframe interval, and the current bitrate recommendations for your output. Test using representative media.
- The playlist stops or repeats incorrectly: Check the encoder’s playlist or scheduling configuration and confirm that it handles the file formats and repeat behavior you need. No JioCloud-specific playlist automation is established by the available documentation.
- The stream does not resume after a VM or encoder failure: Verify process supervision and restart behavior for your chosen VM and encoder; do not assume the cloud provider automatically restarts the broadcast.
