Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →To stream a continuous relaxation-music playlist to YouTube with OBS, prepare a YouTube broadcast, build an OBS scene, route a playlist player’s audio into OBS, connect OBS to YouTube, then test and monitor the stream. Use music whose rights cover both livestreaming and any archived video: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a match can interrupt the broadcast.
Before you start
You need OBS Studio, a computer able to play the selected music, a stable upload connection, and a visual for the broadcast. The visual might be a still image or other material you have permission to use. OBS manages the scene and audio routing; it does not grant rights to the music or guarantee that a playlist player will loop correctly.
- Choose tracks and visuals you are authorized to use on YouTube Live and in a replay, if you plan to leave the archive available.
- Decide whether to create the broadcast in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room or use OBS’s YouTube integration. Interface labels can change; confirm them in your installed versions.
- Keep your YouTube stream key private. Anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
Set up the continuous playlist stream in OBS
1. Create or schedule the YouTube broadcast
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a broadcast, then set its title, privacy, and other broadcast options.
- Choose whether you want a scheduled event with its preview and go-live controls or a more direct start workflow. The exact available controls depend on the current YouTube Studio and OBS interfaces.
2. Build an OBS scene
- In OBS, create a scene for the broadcast.
- Add the visual source or sources you want viewers to see. Check that the image or video is framed as intended in the OBS preview.
- Use the OBS Quick Start Guide for the current basics of scenes, sources, audio, and output setup: OBS Quick Start Guide.
3. Route the playlist player’s audio into OBS
- Start the local player or application that will play your tracks or playlist. Configure its repeat or looping behavior in that player; the cited OBS guidance does not prescribe a particular player or playlist-looping method.
- In OBS, select an audio source that captures the player’s sound, then play a track and confirm the correct meter moves in the OBS audio mixer.
- If the meter is silent or the wrong sound is being captured, check the selected devices under Settings → Audio and confirm the player is sending audio to the device OBS captures.
- Listen to a test recording or private test stream to check the actual level and sound. A moving meter alone does not confirm that the sound is comfortable or free of unwanted system audio.
4. Connect OBS to YouTube
- Connect through OBS’s YouTube integration, or select a YouTube RTMPS service and enter the stream key using the current OBS interface.
- If you use a stream key, copy it from the relevant YouTube broadcast settings and keep it confidential. Do not share it in a screenshot, description, or public chat.
- The older OBS community walkthrough covers the Live Control Room and OBS-integrated workflows, but its interface instructions were last updated in 2021. Treat it as background, not a guarantee of current labels: OBS community guide to a first YouTube livestream.
5. Set an upload-sustainable output
Choose output settings based on what your upload connection can reliably sustain, not just the highest resolution your computer can produce. YouTube’s recommended video bitrate varies by resolution, frame rate, and codec, so use the current YouTube live encoder settings table for the combination you plan to use. Its published guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, and constant bitrate (CBR), and recommends RTMPS.
Measure your available upload capacity and leave room for normal fluctuations and other network use. A bitrate that works briefly may still be unreliable for a continuous broadcast. If your connection cannot sustain the chosen setting, reduce the demand rather than relying on a single short successful test.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
6. Test, go live, and monitor
- Run a short test before making the broadcast public. Use representative audio and visual movement, as YouTube recommends, rather than testing only a silent still screen.
- Check the YouTube preview, audio, and stream-health messages before proceeding. Confirm that the intended playlist—not desktop alerts or unrelated audio—is what viewers hear.
- Start the broadcast using the controls for your chosen workflow, then keep an eye on OBS and YouTube stream-health indicators.
- If OBS shows rising dropped frames, OBS says the connection may be unstable or unable to sustain the selected bitrate. Reduce the output demand or address the network issue, then test again.
- When finished, stop the stream using the current OBS or YouTube controls for that broadcast and verify in YouTube that it has ended. Scheduled and unscheduled broadcasts may have different start and stop behavior.
For YouTube’s test and stream-health guidance, see YouTube’s live streaming troubleshooting and stream-health guidance. OBS also recommends testing before going live: OBS Quick Start Guide.
Choose music that can stay live and in the archive
YouTube Help states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If YouTube identifies third-party material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop using the content; if the issue remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. An archived livestream may also receive a Content ID claim after it ends. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Route 1: YouTube Audio Library
YouTube Audio Library is available in YouTube Studio and provides searchable, downloadable production music and sound effects. YouTube identifies its Audio Library tracks as copyright-safe. Check the individual track’s terms: Creative Commons tracks require artist attribution in the video description, while the library can be filtered for standard Audio Library tracks that do not require attribution. YouTube says YPP creators may monetize videos using Audio Library tracks and that its copyright-safe downloads will not be claimed through Content ID by a rights holder. It does not vouch for “royalty-free” music found on other YouTube channels or libraries. Details: YouTube Audio Library guidance.
Route 2: Third-party licensed music
Read the actual license rather than relying on labels such as “royalty-free” or on a music subscription alone. Confirm that it expressly covers YouTube livestreaming and archived videos. Ask whether the rights owner requires Content ID allowlisting and whether they will add your channel. YouTube warns that a stream can be interrupted even when you have a license if the channel is not allowlisted by the rights owner.

Troubleshooting common problems
OBS audio meter does not move
Confirm the playlist is playing, then check Settings → Audio and the selected capture source. Make sure the player routes sound to the device OBS is monitoring. Recheck the mixer while the track plays.
YouTube preview has no sound or the wrong sound
Verify the intended OBS mixer channel is active and that the test reaches YouTube, not only the local OBS meters. Check whether system audio is capturing alerts or unrelated applications, and adjust the audio routing before going public.

The stream drops frames or becomes unstable
OBS associates rising dropped frames with an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. Lower the output demand in line with YouTube’s current encoder guidance, reduce competing upload activity, and repeat a representative test.
YouTube interrupts the broadcast over music
Stop using the disputed track and review the rights and Content ID status. For third-party music, contact the rights owner about channel allowlisting; having a license does not necessarily prevent a live interruption. Check the archived video separately for a later claim.

The playlist stops or does not loop
OBS routes audio but does not define how a separate player repeats a playlist. Check that player’s repeat setting, playback queue, and power or sleep behavior, then run a test long enough to reach a track transition before relying on the setup.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a continuous YouTube stream without keeping OBS or a home computer running, StreamNeo is a cloud service for looping uploaded videos and playlists. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay powered on at home; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Each slot has one flat price for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode or quality tiers. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube, not from a live camera.
