Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →You can stream videos stored in a cloud folder to YouTube Live nonstop by connecting the folder to a playback setup, looping a file or playlist in an encoder such as OBS, and sending that encoder’s feed to a YouTube broadcast. The folder is storage, not a YouTube playlist: a computer or hosted service must play the videos and deliver their audio and video to YouTube. For a do-it-yourself setup, the computer, file access and network must remain available; a cloud service is an alternative if you do not want a computer running at home.
What you need for a continuous stream
The workflow has three parts: cloud storage holds the video files; a playback system selects and loops them; an encoder sends the resulting live feed to YouTube. YouTube distinguishes the viewer-facing broadcast from the incoming stream that carries the encoder’s audio and video. A cloud folder does not automatically become a YouTube Live playlist.
- A YouTube channel eligible to go live.
- Access to the video files from a computer, or a hosted service that supports your files.
- A player or encoder that can loop one video or cycle through a playlist.
- A stable internet connection and the YouTube stream URL and key.
- Permission to stream every video and its soundtrack.
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Confirm eligibility and activate live streaming before the date you intend to start: YouTube live streaming tips.
Make cloud-stored videos available to OBS
Choose Drive streaming or mirroring
If your files are in Google Drive, Google Drive for desktop offers streaming and mirroring. Streaming keeps files primarily in the cloud, uses less local disk, and requires both an internet connection and Drive for desktop to be running. You may be able to make accessed files available offline. Mirroring keeps a full local copy as well as the cloud copy, takes disk space, and makes the files available offline. Support can vary by drive type, and some applications may have trouble reading streamed files. See Google Drive for desktop’s current guidance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check file access before going live
Open each video from the location OBS will use and confirm it plays through to the end. For a long-running stream, test whether the chosen access mode can sustain playback, including when the computer restarts or Drive for desktop reconnects. A mirrored copy is less dependent on continuous Drive access but consumes local storage. An external SSD is optional if you choose mirroring and need more disk space; it is not a streaming requirement.
Set up a looping file or playlist in OBS
Loop one video with Media Source
- In OBS, select the scene that should carry the broadcast.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add Media Source.
- Choose the video file from the Drive location available to the computer.
- Enable Loop in the source properties, then confirm the source is visible and its audio meters move during playback.
- Test a complete playback cycle and verify that the video restarts at the beginning.
OBS documents the Media Source controls at OBS Media Sources. Keep the intended scene and source active while streaming.

Loop multiple videos with VLC Video
- Install VLC on the computer before trying to add the OBS source; OBS’s VLC Video source depends on VLC being installed.
- In OBS, choose the target scene, then select + in Sources and add VLC Video.
- Add the files in the order you want them played, using paths the computer can access.
- Enable Loop Playlist so playback returns to the first item after the last one.
- Run the queue through its final item and confirm that the first item starts again, with video and audio intact.
OBS’s VLC Video source supports playlists and a Loop Playlist option. It does not establish that a cloud folder will be watched for changes or that newly added files will automatically enter the queue. Update and test the playlist yourself. Details are in the OBS Media Sources guide.
Connect OBS to a YouTube Live broadcast
- In YouTube Studio, create or select the live broadcast you intend to use and open its encoder settings in the Live Control Room.
- Copy the provided stream URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming configuration. Use the ingest option YouTube provides; RTMPS is an available secure encoder ingestion option.
- Treat the stream key and ingestion details like credentials. Do not include them in screenshots, recordings, or messages to other people.
- Start OBS output and check the Live Control Room preview before making the broadcast public or starting the event.
A YouTube broadcast is the viewer-facing event; the incoming stream is the feed sent by the encoder. Google’s Live API documentation explains the distinction and notes that a stream can be reused for up to three broadcasts. See YouTube Live broadcasts and streams, the LiveStreams API reference, and RTMPS ingestion.

Test the full path before relying on it
YouTube recommends preparing an encoder stream at least two hours before an event, starting the encoder at least 15 minutes ahead, checking the Live Control Room preview, verifying the event is accessible, and continuously monitoring audio and video. These are preparation recommendations, not a promise of uninterrupted service. For a nonstop goal, test the entire chain: file access, playback, OBS output, YouTube preview, and the publicly accessible event. Monitor it after launch as well. YouTube’s guidance is at live streaming tips.
Check these points during a test
- The file starts, finishes, and loops or advances to the next playlist item as expected.
- Audio is present, at a suitable level, and does not stop when a file changes.
- The preview in YouTube Studio shows the expected picture and sound.
- The broadcast can be opened by its intended audience.
- Drive streaming does not stall or lose access during playback, if you use it.
- The computer, OBS, and network remain available for the duration you need.
There is no documented reliability figure for this complete folder-to-YouTube workflow, and a loop setting does not guarantee that a live broadcast will never disconnect. The computer or hosted encoder, media access, and network all have to keep working.

Confirm you have streaming rights
Cloud access is not proof that you have permission to rebroadcast a video. Before streaming, confirm that you have the rights needed for every recording and soundtrack, including applicable music rights. YouTube’s livestream terms require live content to comply with its Community Guidelines and say providers represent that they have the necessary rights for exploitation of live content. A stream can be terminated after a copyright or Community Guidelines strike. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and copyright issues with live streams.

| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| OBS cannot find or open a video | The file is not available at the selected path, or Drive for desktop is not running in streaming mode. | Confirm the file opens from that computer, start or reconnect Drive for desktop, and check that OBS points to the correct location. Consider a mirrored copy if dependable offline access is more important than saving disk space. |
| Playback pauses or stalls | The file may be streaming from Drive, the connection may be interrupted, or the player may have trouble with that access mode. | Test the file independently, confirm Drive and internet connectivity, and try making the file available offline or using a mirrored copy. |
| The video ends instead of restarting | Loop is not enabled for a Media Source, or playlist looping is not enabled for VLC Video. | Open the source properties, enable the relevant loop control, then test the entire file or queue through its end. |
| A playlist does not appear as a source option | VLC may not be installed, which OBS requires for VLC Video. | Install VLC, restart or reopen OBS if necessary, and add VLC Video again. |
| YouTube shows no incoming video | The encoder may not be sending to the selected broadcast, or its stream URL or key may be incorrect. | Compare OBS’s configured ingestion details with the ones for the selected broadcast in YouTube Studio. Keep the key private. |
| The preview has picture but no sound | The source audio may be muted, missing, or not reaching OBS’s output. | Check OBS source and mixer levels, listen to the preview, and test transitions between playlist items. |
| The stream drops after it starts | The computer, file access, encoder, or network may have stopped working; a looping source alone cannot prevent a disconnection. | Check each part of the path, restore the encoder connection, and verify the YouTube preview again. For unattended operation, consider a hosted option and check its storage support, ingest method, and recovery behavior. |
