To keep a relaxation video live on YouTube around the clock, run an encoder on a cloud server and send its continuous audio-video output to YouTube Live. Configure an ingest stream and viewer-facing broadcast in YouTube Studio, connect the encoder with the assigned stream key, then test the preview and monitor stream health. The cloud server—not a home computer—must stay powered and connected for this do-it-yourself setup.
How the cloud-to-YouTube setup works
The cloud server runs the encoder: software that reads your video and audio, encodes them, and sends the resulting live feed to YouTube. YouTube distinguishes the incoming feed, called a liveStream in its API, from the liveBroadcast viewers watch. You can configure a stream in YouTube Studio/Live Control Room or automate setup through the Live Streaming API; API automation is optional. See Google’s explanation of broadcasts and streams and the LiveStreams resource.
- Confirm the channel can livestream.
- Prepare a cloud machine, media files, and an encoder.
- Create the YouTube stream and obtain its ingest address and stream key.
- Configure the encoder, test the feed, and launch the broadcast.
- Supervise the process, connection, and YouTube stream health continuously.
Check YouTube channel eligibility first
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Check access before paying for a server or preparing a public launch. Set up the stream in advance and test privately or as an unlisted broadcast before promoting the channel. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips for current eligibility and operational guidance.
Choose a server and prepare the media
Size the server for continuous encoding
There is no universal cloud-server size for this job: requirements depend on the encoder, codec, resolution, frame rate, and whether encoding uses CPU or GPU. Select an instance that can encode continuously at your chosen settings, and verify outbound bandwidth and the provider’s egress charges before committing. YouTube’s guidance does not specify a server size, provider, uptime target, or cloud cost.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the server loops files stored locally, keep the required media available to the encoder and maintain a separate recoverable copy. Plan for maintenance, restarts, and enough storage for the assets you intend to play.
Prepare a continuous audio-video source
Build a playlist or loop whose playback does not end unexpectedly. A mostly static relaxation scene still needs the encoder to deliver a valid, continuous audio-video feed. Check the full sequence for gaps, unintended silence, abrupt transitions, and files that stop or fail to decode.
Create the YouTube ingest and protect the stream key
- Open YouTube Studio and its Live Control Room. Create or schedule the broadcast and configure a live stream. You can also use the Live Streaming API if you need automation, but it is not required for a manual setup.
- Copy the ingest details YouTube assigns. The stream provides an ingestion address and stream name/key. Use the RTMPS-specific address if you choose RTMPS; do not substitute a plain RTMP endpoint.
- Enter the address and key in your encoder. Keep the key private, like an account credential. Do not place it in public configuration, screenshots, or logs. If it is exposed, replace it through YouTube’s stream settings and update the encoder.
- Connect the feed to the broadcast. In the Studio workflow, check that the selected stream is associated with the intended broadcast. In API workflows, the incoming stream and viewer-facing broadcast are separate resources.
YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP transported over SSL/TLS. Its RTMPS guidance specifies port 443 and a correct TLS connection; encoder integrations must use the endpoint hostname correctly for SNI. Consult Google’s RTMPS ingestion guide if configuring an encoder or integration that exposes connection details.

Choose an ingest protocol and encoder settings
RTMPS is a practical starting point for a conventional encoder
For a typical server-side encoder workflow, RTMPS is a sensible default when the encoder supports it. YouTube also supports HLS and DASH ingestion. Its ingestion protocol comparison describes trade-offs: HLS and DASH use segment-based delivery, have higher latency, and can suit some higher-resolution or advanced-codec workflows. HLS also requires compatible segment generation and upload. It is not simply a higher-quality RTMP setting; choose it only when your resolution, codec, or encoder support justifies the additional setup.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteMatch codec, bitrate, and keyframes to the output
YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video for RTMP/RTMPS, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate encoding, and frame rates up to 60 fps. Its recommended keyframe interval is 2 seconds and it should not exceed 4 seconds.
Use YouTube’s bitrate table for your exact resolution and frame rate rather than extrapolating from an example. For 720p at 30 fps, YouTube lists a recommended video bitrate of 2 Mbps and a maximum of 6 Mbps. Those figures apply to that row, not to other resolutions. Allow network headroom above the encoder bitrate for protocol overhead and variation. YouTube recommends choosing a quality your connection can reliably sustain and running a speed test.

Configure audio as well as video: select a supported audio codec, confirm the intended audio is present, and listen to the preview. The encoder must keep sending a continuous feed even when a scene has little motion.
Test before launch, then operate the stream
End-to-end test
- Start the encoder with the actual playlist, resolution, frame rate, audio, and bitrate you plan to use.
- Open the Live Control Room preview and confirm YouTube receives the feed and the intended broadcast is accessible to the right audience.
- Check picture, audio level, sync, transitions, and stream-health messages. Test with movement and sound representative of the real content, not only a static setup screen.
- Run a test long enough to expose playback endings, resource pressure, network instability, or audio/video interruptions.
Supervise the process and recoveries
A 24/7 feed is an operations task as well as an encoding task. Use process supervision or another restart mechanism so an encoder failure or server restart does not leave the feed stopped indefinitely. Monitor logs, server resource use, outgoing connection status, and YouTube’s stream-health view; retain enough logs and alerts to notice interruptions. YouTube does not prescribe a specific process manager, monitoring service, or cloud instance.
Recommended Free Tools
YouTube’s LiveStreams API exposes an optional backup ingestion address. If you configure backup ingestion, test failover instead of assuming it works: YouTube’s live tips recommend stopping the primary encoder and observing whether playback moves to backup. A backup address alone does not prove that your encoder, network, or failover configuration will recover correctly.

Plan for rights and archives
Clear both video and audio for the channel’s intended use, including live streaming and, where relevant, archive and territory rights. A “royalty-free” label or purchase alone does not establish that a particular track is cleared for every use. Confirm the license terms for the assets you use; no licensing arrangement guarantees a particular Content ID result or monetization outcome.
YouTube’s livestream terms distinguish “Live Content” from “Archived Content,” which may be offered as an option. Do not assume a long-running broadcast will always be available afterward as one complete video. Check YouTube’s current archive settings and duration limits for the broadcast you plan to run.

| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube receives no feed | Wrong ingest address, stream key, protocol, or a channel that is not eligible to livestream. | Confirm channel eligibility, use the assigned endpoint and key, select the matching RTMPS option, and check the encoder’s connection logs. |
| RTMPS connection fails | Incorrect endpoint hostname, TLS/SNI handling, or a blocked outbound connection. | Use YouTube’s RTMPS address and port 443, check that the integration uses the endpoint hostname correctly for SNI, and confirm the server can make the outbound connection. |
| Feed connects but stream health is poor | Bitrate is too high for stable egress, network variation, or unsuitable encoder settings. | Check YouTube’s health messages, reduce bitrate or output settings as needed, leave network headroom, and test the connection. Use the bitrate guidance for the exact resolution and frame rate. |
| Video is present but audio is missing or wrong | Incorrect audio source or unsupported/misconfigured audio encoding. | Check the encoder’s audio input and AAC or MP3 setting, then verify audio in the Live Control Room preview. |
| The feed stops after running for a while | Playlist ended, media failed, encoder exited, or server restarted without restarting the process. | Check the playlist loop, media availability, encoder logs, and server events; configure and test process restart behavior. |
| Primary interruption is not recovered by backup | Backup ingestion was not configured or the failover path has not been validated. | Check the backup address and encoder setup, then conduct a controlled failover test and observe the result in YouTube. |
| Broadcast archive is incomplete or unavailable | Archive behavior or duration limits differ from expectations. | Review current YouTube archive settings and limits for the intended duration before launch; keep a separate source copy of important media. |
