How to Stream 4K 60fps Gameplay Recordings in a Continuous YouTube Live Loop

Learn how to loop prerecorded gameplay in a continuous 4K/60 fps YouTube Live stream, with YouTube’s bitrate and encoder settings, testing steps, and a cloud alternative.

To loop an existing gameplay recording as a 4K/60 fps YouTube Live stream, send it through an encoder that can repeat the file or use a cloud service that loops uploaded videos. Configure the encoder for YouTube’s ingest requirements, preview and test the complete stream, then monitor Live Control Room while it runs. YouTube does not provide the repeat function for an encoder feed; your playback setup or streaming service must supply it.

Choose how the recording will repeat

Run a local encoder

A software encoder can play a local recording repeatedly and send the output to YouTube. This keeps the source file and controls on your computer, which must remain on and connected for the stream to continue. Confirm that the playback application can loop the file without gaps and that the encoder can sustain the chosen 4K/60 fps format.

Use a cloud service

A cloud service can keep uploaded recordings running without leaving a home computer on. YouTube’s verified encoder directory lists Gyre as a cloud service for 24/7 prerecorded streams, including 4K at 30 or 60 fps. YouTube also lists AWS Elemental MediaLive as a broadcast-grade option supporting up to 4Kp60 HEVC; that level of service may be more complex than a solo creator needs. Check each provider’s current features, limits, and pricing directly.

Set up YouTube ingest for 4K/60 fps

Choose codec and bitrate

YouTube’s 2026 guidance, accessed in 2026, recommends the following encoder bitrates for 2160p at 60 fps. These are ingest recommendations, not a guarantee that every viewer will receive 4K; playback quality also depends on YouTube processing and the viewer’s connection and device.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Codec Minimum bitrate Recommended bitrate
AV1 or H.265/HEVC 10 Mbps 35 Mbps
H.264 14 Mbps 50 Mbps

Choose a codec supported by your encoder and delivery path. Your available upstream capacity must reliably handle the selected bitrate; allow headroom for normal network variation rather than planning to use the full capacity of an unstable connection.

Set transport, frame rate, and keyframes

  • Transport: YouTube accepts RTMP and RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts the connection to the ingest server.
  • Frame rate: Set the source and encoder to 60 fps if the recording is 60 fps and the encoder can sustain it. YouTube supports up to 60 fps.
  • Rate control: Use constant bitrate (CBR), as YouTube recommends.
  • Keyframes: Set a two-second keyframe interval. YouTube says the interval should not exceed four seconds.

Set resolution in Live Control Room

YouTube automatically detects resolution and frame rate by default. If you need to set them manually, create or select a custom stream key in Live Control Room and enable manual settings. A stream key connects your encoder’s output to the YouTube event and should be treated like a password: do not share it, and reset it if you believe it has been exposed.

YouTube does not offer its low-latency option for 4K streams; 4K uses normal latency. Plan for a delay between the stream and viewer chat rather than promising real-time interaction.

Test before starting the continuous loop

  1. Prepare a representative segment. Test footage with motion, scene changes, and audio similar to the full recording. A static menu screen alone will not reveal issues that appear during gameplay.
  2. Check the loop and encoder output. Confirm that the file repeats as intended, with no unintended pause or abrupt audio change at the join. Verify the encoder reports the intended resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, and keyframe interval.
  3. Start a preview in Live Control Room. Confirm that video and audio arrive correctly and that the stream-health indicators show no problem before making the event public or starting the ongoing broadcast.
  4. Monitor operation. Watch stream health and audio/video quality after launch, and keep an operator plan for a failed source, network interruption, encoder crash, or rights complaint. YouTube’s guidance supports testing and monitoring; it does not promise automatic recovery.
  5. Check any local archive. If you are recording an archive at the same time, verify that the file is valid and that its size continues to grow.

Rights and channel considerations

Before looping gameplay, confirm that you have the rights needed for the game footage, soundtrack, overlays, and any other included material. A recording being available on your computer does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it. Check the game publisher’s terms and the licenses for music or third-party content, and respond promptly to any YouTube rights notice. YouTube’s encoder documentation does not determine whether a particular recording is legally cleared or eligible for monetization.

A continuous loop is a format, not a guarantee of channel approval or revenue. Make sure the stream has a clear purpose and complies with YouTube’s current policies on copyright, monetization, and reused content; those decisions depend on the channel and material, not just the technical ingest settings.
