You can keep a YouTube chillhop stream running from a Windows PC with streaming software such as OBS, but the first step is not configuring OBS: it is securing music rights for a continuous live broadcast. A “royalty-free” label, a license for ordinary creator videos, or access to a public music stream does not by itself authorize a 24/7 channel. Confirm that the license covers your exact use, then configure and monitor the stream.
Get permission for a continuous YouTube music stream first
YouTube makes the creator responsible for having the rights needed to exploit live content worldwide, including music licensing rights. Before broadcasting, obtain written permission for every track or catalog and verify that its terms explicitly cover a creator-operated, continuous YouTube livestream and any saved archive.
- Platform and format: permission must cover rebroadcasting the music as a continuous YouTube live stream—not just using a track in an edited video.
- Archives: check whether the grant also covers the stream’s saved VOD or replay.
- Territory and channel: confirm the intended countries and the specific YouTube channel are covered.
- Monetization: check whether ads or other monetization are permitted for this use.
- Attribution and conditions: record any required credit wording, track limits, or other obligations.
Keep the license, track list, and required credits together. YouTube’s livestream terms place the rights responsibility on the person broadcasting.
Check Content ID and allowlisting separately
A valid license does not necessarily prevent an automated interruption. YouTube says live streams are scanned for third-party content; a stream can be interrupted or terminated, and a licensed creator may need the rights holder to allowlist the channel in Content ID. Ask the licensor whether allowlisting is required and how to resolve a mistaken match before going live.

Claims can also appear on an archived stream after the live event ends. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams, check the live dashboard for warnings during a test, and inspect the saved archive afterward if you retain one.
Do not treat “royalty-free” as blanket permission
“Royalty-free” is not the same as public domain, and it does not automatically grant every type of use. Read the actual license for continuous live rebroadcast, the archive, territory, monetization, attribution, and any Content ID process. Do not assume a license intended for standard creator videos also permits a 24/7 music channel.

Chillhop’s creator program does not allow a creator-run 24/7 stream
Chillhop’s current creator FAQ says its music is not royalty-free and explicitly says not to use it to create your own 24/7 music stream. It also says its website livestream player and Spotify or Apple Music playlists are not permitted sources for YouTube or Twitch livestreams. Do not route those feeds into your broadcast.
Chillhop’s creator terms, updated 17 August 2026, describe a limited license for designated tracks in qualifying audiovisual productions on linked YouTube or Twitch channels. The program is for eligible registered individuals, requires credits to be included and retained, and does not permit standalone audio; commercial or corporate use is outside the program. Those terms do not override the FAQ’s prohibition on using the music for your own 24/7 stream. Check the current terms directly before using any music under a creator program.

Creator Music is not established as a 24/7 live-stream license
YouTube’s surfaced Creator Music help information describes availability for U.S. creators in the YouTube Partner Program and notes that a removed license no longer protects a track from copyright claims. That does not establish permission for continuous live streaming. Confirm the specific track license permits this format rather than inferring permission from availability in Creator Music.
Set up the Windows PC and YouTube stream
OBS is a free software option according to the OBS Project, but software does not grant music rights. Use YouTube’s current live-stream setup guidance and the current OBS help material for the interface and configuration shown in your versions. Exact PC specifications, bitrate, keyframe interval, and other stable 24/7 settings are not established here; follow the current platform guidance rather than treating an unverified preset as a guarantee.

- Prepare your licensed audio. Use files you are authorized to broadcast. Avoid using a radio feed, a website player, or a consumer streaming playlist as the source unless the rights holder expressly licenses that redistribution.
- Create the YouTube live event. In YouTube Studio, open the live-streaming workflow and create or schedule an event. Set its visibility and archive options deliberately, then follow the current on-screen encoder instructions.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. Follow the current YouTube and OBS instructions to connect the encoder and event. Treat the stream key as a secret: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the broadcast.
- Add the audio source in OBS. Choose the licensed audio source and confirm that the intended audio is reaching the encoder. If you build a playlist or loop, make sure each included track is covered by the same applicable rights.
- Test privately or unlisted. Start with music whose rights are documented. Check YouTube’s live dashboard for matching-content warnings and confirm that audio is present and the event is behaving as expected.
- Inspect the archive. After ending a test, check the saved replay for claims if YouTube retains one. A clean live dashboard does not rule out a later claim on the archived version.
Plan for the limits of a Windows PC setup
A PC-based 24/7 stream depends on the host computer, encoder, power, and internet connection remaining available. If the PC sleeps, loses power, restarts for updates, or loses connectivity, the broadcast may stop. No particular uptime guarantee or resilience technique is established here, so test your own setup and decide how you will notice and respond to a failure.
- Prevent routine sleep or shutdown only if that is appropriate for your machine and operating environment.
- Check the stream after Windows or OBS updates and after any change to audio sources or network equipment.
- Keep a copy of the rights documentation available so you can respond promptly to a claim or inquiry.
Troubleshoot common rights and streaming problems
