If the stream ends exactly when the final playlist item finishes, first check the software that plays the playlist and sends video to Switchboard Live. Switchboard manages the incoming feed and its destination broadcasts; its documented Auto-Start control starts destinations when an encoder connects, but it is not a playlist-repeat setting. The exact menu path depends on which encoder or playlist app you use.
Find which part of the stream stopped
Switchboard describes its Encoder Workflow Pane as the place to connect streaming software, choose an ingest protocol and monitor the incoming stream. Its confidence monitor shows the video currently received from the encoder. Destinations are controlled separately.
- Open the encoder workflow in Switchboard and check the confidence monitor after the playlist reaches its last item.
- Check whether incoming video is still visible. If it disappears when playback ends, the encoder or playlist app may have stopped sending video. Look in that app’s settings or documentation for a playlist option such as loop, repeat, or continuous playback. The exact setting varies by application and version; Switchboard’s documentation does not specify third-party playlist controls.
- If incoming video remains visible, check each destination’s status. If only one destination stopped, investigate that destination’s broadcast status and controls. If all destinations stopped while video is still arriving, review the stream-group and destination state in Switchboard.
What Switchboard’s controls do—and do not do
Switchboard documents destination Start and Stop controls separately from encoder ingest. Its workflow guide says the destination Stop button ends broadcasting to that specific destination. Destination Details also documents Start Now and Stop Now controls. These are broadcast controls, not documented playlist-repeat settings. See Switchboard’s Workflow Page and Destination Details.
Auto-Start is a Stream Group toggle that starts destinations when the encoder connects. Switchboard’s product page likewise describes Auto Start Destinations as starting destinations when streaming software or an encoder starts. Neither description says it repeats a playlist or keeps a destination live after the encoder stops sending video. The same workflow guide lists RTMP, RTMPS and SRT as ingest protocols; choosing a protocol does not, by itself, make a playlist loop. Switchboard’s product page labels Scheduled Start/Stop “Coming Soon” on the accessed page, so check the current page for availability rather than relying on that status.

Troubleshoot by symptom
The confidence monitor goes blank at the end
- Check the playlist app for a repeat or loop setting, and confirm the playlist contains the intended items.
- Check whether the encoder’s output stops when playback ends. If it does, consult the documentation or support for that encoder and version; Switchboard cannot repeat content that the encoder is no longer sending.
- If the app has no continuous-play option, identify the encoder and version before seeking exact instructions. The available Switchboard documentation does not establish a universal setting or workaround.
The confidence monitor still shows video, but a destination is no longer live
- Check whether the problem affects one destination or all of them.
- For a single destination, inspect its status and controls in Switchboard. Use its documented destination controls only when you intend to start or stop that broadcast.
- For multiple destinations, check the stream group and whether destinations are configured to start when the encoder connects. Auto-Start concerns starting destinations at encoder connection; it does not loop the playlist.
You are not sure which layer failed
Note the encoder or playlist application and version, whether the confidence monitor shows video after the final item, and whether one or all destinations stopped. Those details distinguish a playback/output issue from a destination broadcast issue. Ask the encoder’s support team about its loop or continuous-output behavior; ask Switchboard support about destination status if video is still arriving.
