Add the image as an Image File source in its own XSplit scene, then switch to that scene when one video ends. Switch back to the next video scene when you’re ready. You don’t need extra hardware, and the image does not need to be converted into a video.
Show one still image between videos
- Create an intermission scene. In XSplit Broadcaster, add a scene from the scene list or select an existing scene to use for the image. Scenes contain sources, and the scene list is where you add and switch between them. See XSplit’s Scenes guide. Free users are limited to four scenes per presentation; premium licensing allows unlimited scenes.
- Add the image. Make the intermission scene active, then choose Add Source > Image File. Browse to the image on your computer and open it. XSplit lists PNG, JPG, GIF, WEBP, and TIFF among common supported formats; see Image, Video, and Audio Source.
- Position it for your broadcast. Arrange and resize the image in the scene preview so it fills the canvas or sits where you want it. Check the output in your installed XSplit version before going live: a listed file format does not guarantee that every image size or layout will suit every canvas.
- Switch scenes during the stream. When a video ends, select the intermission scene in the scene list. Select the next video scene when you want to resume. Switching scenes controls what viewers see in the stream.
Add an optional transition
A transition can soften the change between the video and still image, but it is not required. Choose a transition such as fade or wipe from XSplit’s transitions menu. XSplit uses the selected transition when switching scenes; its Transition Manager can override global settings for selected scene pairs. See Scene Transitions.
Choose the right source for the kind of break

Check the image before going live
- Preview the intermission scene in the installed version of XSplit and confirm the image appears at the intended size and position.
- Make sure you can identify the intermission and video scenes quickly in the scene list.
- Use an image you have permission to broadcast. The cited XSplit setup instructions do not establish permission for any particular image or settle YouTube’s rules for a specific card.
