YouTube Music’s mobile app can turn a short selection of a song’s lyrics into a branded image card you can save or share. The feature launched on Android and iOS, and was reported as available to free and Premium users. It may not appear for every account or song today, so treat the steps below as the reported workflow rather than a guarantee that every user will see the Share button.
What YouTube Music’s lyrics-sharing feature makes
The tool formats selected lyrics as a static image card. Launch coverage described a card with the lyric excerpt, album artwork, song and artist information, a colored background, and YouTube Music branding. It is a preset card design—not AI-generated artwork or an animated lyric video—and the branding could not be removed in the launch version. You can save the image or send it through your phone’s standard sharing options. That can include social apps, but the reported feature is not an Instagram-native Story sticker or a confirmed direct link to the song. 9to5Google’s walkthrough documents the image-sharing workflow.
How to create and share a lyric card
These are the launch-reported steps for the YouTube Music mobile app:

- Open YouTube Music and play the song you want to share.
- Open the Now Playing screen and select the Lyrics tab.
- Tap the Share button at the bottom of the lyrics view.
- On Select lyrics, tap the lines to include. Launch reports set the limit at five lines; selecting more could reset the selection.
- Tap Next, choose a background color, and preview the card.
- Tap Save image to keep it on your device, or use the share control to send it to another app.
The launch report described 10 background colors, with the first matching the Now Playing screen. The number of options and interface may differ in later app versions. Who can use it—and where
The feature was reported as rolling out broadly on Android and iOS in June 2025, with launch coverage associating it with YouTube Music version 8.24. That version number is historical, not a current installation requirement. The U.S. Apple App Store listing and Google Play listing show later app updates; use the official store listing for your device rather than trying to install version 8.24.

Launch coverage said the tool was available to free and paid users. The current store listings describe Premium benefits such as ad-free playback, background listening, and downloads, but do not identify lyric-card sharing as a Premium-only feature. They also do not specifically document whether the card tool is currently available to every account. The launch reports are Android Authority and Android Headlines.

A song also needs lyrics shown in the app; lyrics and the sharing control are not confirmed for every track. If lyrics are unavailable, incomplete, or supplied differently by song or region, the Share option may not be offered. The Google Play listing describes lyrics as an app feature but does not promise coverage for every song.

If the Share button is missing
Some users reported in March and April 2026 that they could no longer find the control, including an iOS user. These are community reports, not confirmation that YouTube Music intentionally removed the feature. One report describes the missing control on iOS; another asks whether lyric sharing had disappeared.
- Check that you are using the YouTube Music mobile app, not the web player.
- Update the app from the official Google Play or Apple App Store listing.
- Force-close the app and reopen it. This was suggested as a practical workaround during the original rollout, not as a guaranteed fix; 9to5Google reported the suggestion.
- Try a different song whose lyrics are visible, and check whether the Lyrics tab itself appears.
- If the control is still absent, sign out and back in as a later troubleshooting step, then use Help and feedback in the app to report the issue.
An update or restart may not activate the feature immediately: current availability is not established as universal, and a missing control alone does not prove the feature was removed.

When the built-in card is enough
The native tool is useful when you want a quick, ready-styled image of a short lyric excerpt. Its preset layout, limited excerpt length, and YouTube Music branding make it less suited to custom fonts, elaborate layouts, animation, or longer passages. For those, a separate image or video editor offers more control, but requires additional work; the native feature is the simpler option when its design and limits suit the post.
