Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Schedule the service in YouTube Studio, connect OBS to that scheduled event, then add the archived sermon to a YouTube playlist after the broadcast. These are separate tasks: sending video from OBS does not always make the scheduled event live, and scheduling a broadcast does not automatically add its archive to a playlist. Confirm channel eligibility and decide who will operate YouTube Studio before service day.
Before the first service: check channel access and eligibility
YouTube’s getting-started guidance, reviewed October 3, 2026, says a channel must be verified, must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the person streaming must be at least 16. Check eligibility ahead of time rather than discovering a restriction during a service.
- Confirm the church channel can livestream and that the volunteer who will operate the stream can access the channel and the scheduled event in YouTube Studio.
- Assign one person to monitor YouTube Studio during the service. OBS operation and the Studio controls may be separate responsibilities.
- Trace how the church’s camera picture and audio reach the computer running OBS. The right connection depends on the equipment already installed; there is no universal camera, mixer, capture card, or scene setup.
Schedule the service in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go Live.
- Open the Manage tab and choose Schedule Stream. Create a new event or reuse settings from a previous stream.
- Enter the service title, date and time, visibility, description, and other event details. Check the selected visibility before sharing the event.
- Copy the scheduled event’s watch-page URL and share it with the congregation in advance. YouTube’s scheduling guidance says viewers can receive reminders, and the creator can share the event URL.
YouTube can change Studio labels and permissions. Follow the current controls shown in the church channel’s Studio account if they differ from these menu names.
Connect OBS to the scheduled event
- Get the event’s connection details. In YouTube’s stream setup, obtain the stream URL and stream key, or use the YouTube service integration available in OBS. Treat the key like a password: do not put it in a public checklist, screenshot, or message.
- Configure OBS. Select the appropriate YouTube service or enter the server URL and stream key in OBS’s streaming settings. Confirm that the selected scene, camera feed, and audio source are the ones intended for the service.
- Check the signal before the service. Verify that the church’s actual camera and audio signal reach the OBS computer and that OBS is sending the intended scene. Hardware and scene configuration vary by installation, so use the equipment’s actual signal path rather than assuming a particular setup.
- Start the encoder and verify the event. Starting OBS sends its encoded output. Confirm in YouTube Studio that the scheduled event is receiving that output. Starting the encoder and making the event live may be separate actions: check whether auto-start is enabled or whether an operator needs to select Go Live in Studio. The OBS Project guide describes this distinction; YouTube Studio is the authority for the current event controls.
- End and verify. Use the controls appropriate to the event’s configuration to end the broadcast, then confirm that the video appears in YouTube Studio. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.
Build the sermon playlist from the archived video
A playlist is a collection of videos, not a broadcast schedule. YouTube’s desktop instructions allow a playlist to be created from a video’s watch page.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- After the sermon archive is available, open its watch page and select Save.
- Choose Create new playlist, give it a clear name such as “Sunday Sermons” or “Church Services,” and choose its visibility intentionally.
- Check that the archived sermon appears in the playlist. Repeat for each service you want included.
The event schedule and playlist membership are separate. The official playlist instructions do not establish that future livestream archives will automatically enter a playlist, so verify the archive and its playlist entry after each service.
Service-day checks and common problems
| What you see | What to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The channel cannot start a livestream. | Channel verification, livestream restrictions in the prior 90 days, and the age eligibility stated by YouTube. | Resolve eligibility before the service and confirm the volunteer has channel access. |
| OBS is sending video, but the scheduled event is not live. | Whether OBS output reaches the intended event, and whether auto-start is enabled. | Have the Studio operator check the event and select Go Live if required by its configuration. |
| The event is live but the picture or sound is wrong or missing. | The OBS scene, selected camera and audio sources, and the installed route from camera and audio equipment to the computer. | Correct the source or signal path in the actual setup; equipment-specific steps depend on the church’s devices. |
| The congregation cannot find the event. | Whether the scheduled event’s watch-page URL was shared and whether the event’s visibility is appropriate. | Share the correct scheduled-event link and check its Studio settings. |
| The sermon archive is not in the playlist. | Whether the archived video was saved to the intended playlist. | Open the archive’s watch page, use Save, and add it to the playlist. |
Choose capture hardware only if the signal path requires it
A USB HDMI capture card is relevant only if the church needs to bring an HDMI camera output into the OBS computer. Some devices connect directly by USB, and a church may already have a compatible capture path. Before buying anything, check the camera’s output, the computer’s available inputs, and the video resolution and frame rate the church intends to use. No particular brand or model is established as compatible for every setup.

Or let it run in the cloud
For a church that wants an uploaded sermon recording to play as a continuous YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload the recording, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It does not replace OBS for broadcasting a live camera feed during a service.
