You can run a 24/7 deep house radio stream by using OBS Studio to send a continuous audio-and-visual program to YouTube Live. First confirm your channel can livestream and that you have the rights needed for every track and visual; then create a YouTube broadcast, connect OBS with the matching stream key or YouTube account integration, and test the full path before going public. A computer running OBS must remain on and connected, and YouTube’s guidance does not promise that a continuous stream will stay uninterrupted or be fully archived.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube states that a creator must be at least 16 to livestream.
- A computer capable of running OBS and sending your program to YouTube. No specific minimum hardware configuration is established here, so test the machine you plan to use rather than assume a particular model or specification will handle an uninterrupted stream.
- A continuous deep house program: music files or another audio source, plus visuals that you are entitled to use.
- A reliable internet connection and a plan for monitoring the stream, reconnecting after an interruption, and preserving an archive.
For a radio-style channel, OBS is the encoder: it combines or routes your audio and visuals and sends that feed to YouTube. Your computer, OBS, and internet connection are therefore part of the live chain; if one stops sending, the YouTube broadcast may be interrupted.
Clear music and visual rights before going live
Do not assume that a track is cleared for a 24/7 YouTube radio channel just because you can listen to it, bought it, or have permission to play it in another setting. Confirm rights for every track and visual, including the territories you intend to serve, live transmission, rebroadcast, and any video-on-demand archive you plan to keep.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party material. Even when you hold a license, the rights owner may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID; a license by itself may not prevent the live stream from being interrupted. Confirm the licensing terms and the Content ID process with the relevant rights holders before launch. Do not rely on a later dispute to keep a continuous broadcast running.

Set up the YouTube broadcast and connect OBS
- Check channel eligibility. Verify your YouTube channel and confirm live streaming is enabled and unrestricted. If the channel is not eligible, resolve that before preparing a public broadcast.
- Prepare the program. Organize the music and visuals you have rights to use. Make sure the audio source will continue playing when one track ends; a playlist or other continuous playback arrangement can help avoid silence between tracks.
- Create or schedule a broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Set the title, description, privacy, thumbnail, and other broadcast details. Choose a private or unlisted test first if you do not want the test visible to the public.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. You can use OBS’s YouTube integration to connect your account and select or create a broadcast, or configure the YouTube RTMPS service and enter the stream key from the matching YouTube broadcast. Follow the labels in the OBS version you have installed; the OBS setup guide includes controls that may differ across versions.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a signal to your broadcast. Do not publish it, show it in a screen recording, or include it in a public support post. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS before resuming.
- Start the signal and inspect YouTube’s preview. Start streaming from OBS, then check the Live Control Room for the incoming signal and preview. Confirm the displayed broadcast is the one you intended to use and that audio and visuals are present before making the stream public or starting the broadcast.
- Verify the viewer experience. Open the stream as a viewer and listen and watch for a meaningful test period. Check that the music is audible without clipping, the visuals are correct, the playback continues across a track transition, and the stream remains stable. OBS’s signal reaching YouTube does not by itself prove that the public playback is working as intended.
Encoder settings: what to set and what not to guess
The available official setup material does not establish a recommended bitrate, resolution, frame rate, keyframe interval, or minimum computer specification for this particular 24/7 deep house setup. Do not copy a random preset and treat it as a guaranteed configuration. Use current YouTube and OBS guidance for the exact options shown in your installed versions, then validate the settings with a private or unlisted test before launch.
For a music-first radio channel, choose visuals that have a clear purpose—such as authorized cover art, a permitted animation, or a simple station graphic—and check them in the YouTube preview. If your visual is static or simple, do not select a higher resolution or frame rate without a reason; every video setting still has to be encoded and uploaded continuously by your computer and connection. Keep the audio source and output consistent, and listen to the actual YouTube playback rather than judging only the OBS meters.

Plan for a stream that really runs around the clock
Keep the entire chain running
OBS must continue sending the program, and the computer and internet connection must remain available. The cited setup guidance does not establish a hardware recipe or guarantee of 24/7 uptime. Arrange a way to monitor the YouTube broadcast and respond if the computer, OBS, connection, or YouTube ingest stops receiving the signal. A power backup may help with a brief power interruption, but it does not replace monitoring or solve an internet outage.
Understand reconnects and broadcast controls
OBS provides broadcast start/stop and auto-stop controls, but its guide cautions that a broadcast may end after several hours without an incoming stream. A 24/7 plan therefore needs a recovery procedure: notice that the signal has stopped, check the cause, restore the feed in OBS, and confirm the preview and viewer playback have returned. Do not assume a disconnected encoder will always reconnect without attention or that the broadcast will remain open indefinitely.

Do not count on a complete YouTube archive
YouTube’s production guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and advises recording separately and uploading manually for streams longer than 12 hours. Treat that as YouTube’s stated guidance, not a guarantee that every stream under the threshold will be available as an archive. A continuous 24/7 broadcast needs a separate recording and archive plan if you want a complete copy; also confirm that your music rights cover the recording and on-demand use.
Test checklist before the public launch
- The channel is eligible to livestream and the correct YouTube broadcast is selected.
- Every music track and visual has the necessary permissions for the intended live use, territories, and any planned archive; Content ID allowlisting has been addressed with rights holders where needed.
- The OBS signal appears in the correct YouTube Live Control Room preview.
- Viewer playback has audible, clean audio and the intended visuals, including through track transitions.
- The computer and connection have been tested for the expected workload, and someone can respond to a stopped or unstable stream.
- The stream key is kept private, and there is a recovery plan if it must be changed.
- A separate recording and upload workflow is ready if a complete archive matters.
Troubleshooting common launch problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not show an incoming signal | OBS is not sending, or the stream key/service does not match the selected broadcast. | Confirm OBS is streaming, the YouTube service or account connection is correct, and the key belongs to the broadcast open in Live Control Room. Replace an exposed or reset key in OBS. |
| The preview is present, but the intended broadcast does not start | The signal and the selected broadcast’s start behavior may not match. | Check the selected broadcast and its current YouTube controls. Follow the OBS integration or RTMPS flow for the version installed, then confirm YouTube’s status before treating the channel as live. |
| The stream starts but audio is missing or wrong | OBS may be capturing the wrong source, or the source may stop between tracks. | Inspect the selected audio source and OBS meters, then listen to YouTube playback. Test a track transition and confirm the playlist or playback source continues. |
| The stream is interrupted after music begins | YouTube may have detected third-party material; the rights holder may not have allowlisted the channel through Content ID. | Check YouTube’s notifications and contact the rights holder to confirm the license and allowlisting. Do not assume that a license alone prevents interruption. |
| The broadcast stops after the encoder disconnects | The incoming signal may have been absent long enough for the broadcast to end. | Restore the OBS feed, inspect the current YouTube broadcast status, and restart or create a broadcast as required. Include signal monitoring and reconnection in the operating plan. |
| The 24/7 stream has no complete replay | YouTube’s stated automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours; longer streams require a separate recording and manual upload plan. | Record separately for long broadcasts and upload manually if an archive is needed, subject to the rights for recorded and on-demand use. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a computer and home connection to be responsible for keeping the channel live, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos as a continuous YouTube stream from the cloud. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera.
