To run recorded UPSC lectures as a 24/7 YouTube live stream, send a continuous video feed from an encoder to YouTube Studio. YouTube provides the live event, server URL and stream key; your encoder supplies the lecture video and handles looping. YouTube does not provide a built-in mode that turns a playlist of recordings into an always-on live channel.
Below is the do-it-yourself setup, including channel checks, stream configuration, monitoring, archive limits and the rights and monetization issues to resolve before you go live.
Before you start: channel, recordings and operating plan
Check live-stream access
Confirm that the channel is verified and has had no live-streaming restriction during the preceding 90 days. YouTube lists these as prerequisites in its live streaming tips. If access is unavailable, resolve the channel restriction before building the stream workflow.
Audit every part of the recording
Check that you have the necessary rights to stream and archive each lecture, including embedded music, clips, slides or other third-party material. YouTube’s livestream terms make the content provider responsible for necessary rights, including music licensing where relevant, and require compliance with applicable law and Community Guidelines. A lecture being publicly viewable elsewhere does not establish permission to retransmit it.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose continuous feed or scheduled broadcasts
YouTube’s Live API documentation describes a 24/7 live-feed scenario and explains how broadcast resources relate to stream resources: Understanding Broadcasts and Streams. You can instead create distinct scheduled broadcasts, which provide an upcoming watch page to share. Decide in advance whether you need one continuing feed or separate events, and how you will manage recordings and archives.
Create the YouTube event and connect an encoder
- Open YouTube Studio. Select Create → Go Live. Create a stream or schedule one from the Manage tab. You can reuse stream settings, which may preserve metadata and stream-key configuration. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions for the current Studio flow.
- Copy the server URL and stream key. In Live Control Room, copy both values into the encoder’s YouTube or RTMP settings. The URL tells the encoder where to send the feed; the key identifies and authorizes the stream. YouTube Help describes keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or include it in a screen recording. If it is exposed, reset it in Manage live stream settings and update the encoder.
- Set the encoder’s source to the lecture feed. Configure your chosen encoder to send the authorized recording or playlist as a live feed. YouTube’s instructions cover encoder delivery, not a specific playlist-looping application; looping is a job for the encoder or playback workflow you choose, not a built-in YouTube playlist mode.
- Check the incoming preview. Start the encoder output and wait for the feed to appear in Live Control Room. Confirm the picture and sound before starting the event. For a scheduled event, configure the encoder well in advance and start it before the advertised start time, as YouTube recommends.
- Start the broadcast and verify access. Go live from Studio or use the event’s configured start behavior, then check that the public watch page is reachable. If you use a custom stream key, remember that reusing it is a configuration convenience—not a promise that the encoder, event or broadcast will restart after an interruption.
Choose settings based on your files and connection
There is no single bitrate, resolution, computer specification or internet-speed figure established for every 24/7 lecture stream. The appropriate settings depend on the source files, desired viewing quality, encoder and network conditions. Preserve a stable test period before launch rather than assuming that settings suitable for one recording or connection will work for every session.

- Use the encoder’s settings that match the source footage and the quality you intend to deliver; avoid choosing a higher output setting that the source cannot meaningfully supply.
- Watch the Live Control Room preview for both picture and audio problems before you make the feed public.
- Test the setup on the network and equipment that will actually run it. Keep a record of the working configuration and the steps needed to restore the feed.
Keep the stream healthy and plan for interruptions
A 24/7 feed needs operational checks; an encoder configuration by itself does not ensure uninterrupted service. YouTube recommends monitoring stream quality, checking access to the channel and watch page, confirming that local archive files are intact and growing, and testing backup-encoder failover. These are operating checks, not an uptime guarantee for particular hardware.
- Monitor picture and audio continuously or arrange a reliable person or system to do so.
- Check the public watch page from a viewer’s perspective and on the devices your audience is likely to use.
- Verify that any local archive files are intact and continue growing; a local recording is separate from YouTube’s archive.
- Test a backup encoder and document how to switch to it before depending on failover.
- If you rely on a computer and network equipment at home, consider backup power only after measuring their combined load and deciding how long they need to run during an outage. YouTube does not prescribe a UPS capacity for this use.
Understand YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish that a stream lasting 12 hours or longer will be archived. If preserving each lecture session matters, use shorter broadcasts and confirm that each archive appears in Studio with the intended visibility. A continuous feed and a dependable archive strategy are separate decisions.

Copyright, Community Guidelines and monetization
Clear rights before broadcasting
YouTube’s livestream terms say the provider represents that it has all necessary rights for the Live Content on Google services worldwide, including relevant music licensing rights. They also require the live content to comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines. This is a platform obligation, not individualized legal advice. Resolve permissions before streaming, rather than assuming that educational use or public availability elsewhere is enough.
Check for strikes and claims
YouTube says copyright or Community Guidelines strikes can terminate a live stream. If you archive a live stream, Content ID claims may be made after it ends. Review Studio for restrictions or claims after broadcasts; see YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Do not assume repeated lectures qualify for monetization
YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams as well as other video formats. A July 15, 2025 clarification renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and said repetitive or mass-produced content has been ineligible under existing originality and authenticity rules. Reused content is addressed separately, with reviewers assessing the channel as a whole. An educational topic or permission to rebroadcast does not, by itself, settle monetization eligibility.
