Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesYou can run a 24/7 country music radio channel on YouTube by preparing a continuous playlist, connecting an encoder or cloud playout service to a verified YouTube channel, and keeping the stream monitored. The first thing to solve, though, is music clearance: you need permission for the specific recordings and compositions you plan to broadcast, in the territories where they will be available. A license does not necessarily stop YouTube’s live-stream systems from interrupting a broadcast unless the relevant rights holder also allowlists your channel through Content ID.
1. Clear the music before you build the station
Make a track inventory before scheduling a stream. For every song, record which version you will play, who controls its rights, what uses are permitted, and which territories are covered. Get written confirmation that the permission includes a continuous live broadcast on YouTube, not just personal listening, a downloaded copy, or use in an uploaded video.
Check both the recording and the composition
A track can involve separate rights in the sound recording and in the underlying musical composition. A label may control the master recording, while composition performance rights are often handled by performing-rights organisations. Permission for one layer should not be treated as clearance for the other. Confirm the necessary permissions with the relevant rights holders and, if the scope is unclear, a lawyer familiar with music licensing in the countries involved.
Confirm territories and platform treatment
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the person providing the live content to have the necessary rights for use on Google services worldwide, including relevant music permissions from artists, labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Do not assume a license limited to one country covers a worldwide YouTube broadcast. Establish whether your deal is worldwide or whether it requires geographic restrictions, and discuss the intended YouTube use with the rights holders.

Creator Music is not a shortcut for a live radio channel: YouTube Help says it does not support licensing for live content. Its documented availability for eligible long-form uploaded videos does not change that exclusion.
Ask about Content ID allowlisting
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. If you have licensed music, YouTube’s guidance is to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Allowlisting helps address automated matching; it does not grant rights that your agreement does not provide. Confirm both the legal permission and the channel allowlisting arrangement before launch.
- Do not rely on owning or buying a recording as proof of broadcast permission.
- Do not assume that a radio license, a Creator Music track, or another channel’s use clears your YouTube live use.
- Keep the permission documents, territory limits, track list and allowlisting confirmations accessible to whoever operates the stream.
2. Make sure the YouTube channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube for Artists advises enabling live streaming and completing verification at least 24 hours before the planned broadcast, so do not leave channel setup until launch day.

YouTube supports encoder streaming, which is suitable for a radio-style feed because it lets you control the outgoing program and visuals. YouTube does not specify a universal computer model or minimum specification for this use in the guidance covered here.
3. Prepare the playlist, visuals and playout system
Build a continuous, rights-cleared program
Arrange the cleared tracks into a playlist or playout schedule long enough to suit your programming plan. Check that it advances from track to track without an unintended pause, silence or abrupt end. If you plan recurring blocks—such as new releases, classic country or regional programming—test their order and transitions in the actual playout software rather than assuming a playlist will behave as intended.
Use only audio and artwork you have permission to use. A static station graphic or a visual loop can identify the channel, but the image, logo, photographs and any motion elements also need appropriate rights. Make the station name and what the channel plays clear to viewers.

Choose and test an encoder
Create or schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio, then connect an encoder using the stream details YouTube provides. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast. YouTube describes RTMPS as a secure ingestion method for encoder vendors; use the connection method and settings supported by your encoder and the current YouTube control room.
There is no one bitrate, resolution or keyframe interval that can responsibly be prescribed here for every encoder, upload speed and YouTube configuration. Follow the current values and recommendations shown for your selected stream quality in YouTube Studio and in your encoder’s documentation. Confirm that the encoder’s output matches the ingest settings, and do not change settings during a live run without a reason and a plan to check the result.

Run a test before announcing the station
- Create a private or unlisted test broadcast in YouTube Studio.
- Run the complete playlist through the same playout and encoder chain you intend to use for the public channel.
- Check that YouTube receives the stream, audio remains present, visuals display correctly and the playlist continues past its first track or program block.
- Verify that the stream is private or unlisted as intended, then end the test and correct any issues before scheduling the public launch.
4. Plan for continuous operation and recovery
A 24/7 broadcast needs more than a playlist: the playout system, encoder, power and internet connection all have to keep working. If you run the encoder locally, plan for power or internet failures, operating-system restarts, encoder crashes and an exhausted playlist. Decide who will check the feed, how often they will check it, and how they will restart it if something stops.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Monitor the live output rather than assuming that an encoder showing “connected” means the public stream sounds and looks right.
- Keep a restart procedure and access to the channel available to the operator on duty.
- Where practical, arrange a backup internet connection or another recovery option.
- Test the recovery plan before promoting the channel; an uninterrupted 24/7 run is not guaranteed by YouTube or by a local encoder.
5. Know what happens if YouTube detects a match
When YouTube detects third-party content in a live stream, it may show a placeholder, warn the operator, temporarily interrupt the stream or terminate it. A stream may still be interrupted even if you believe you have a license or have restricted the intended territories, particularly if the channel has not been allowlisted by the relevant rights holder. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also lead to termination.
If a match interrupts your broadcast, note the time and the track playing, save any notice shown in YouTube Studio, and contact the relevant rights holder or distributor. Check that your written permission covers the exact recording, composition, live YouTube use and affected territories; then confirm that the channel is allowlisted where applicable. Do not simply restart the same track and assume the next attempt will remain live.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.6. Troubleshoot common launch and continuity problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube will not accept the broadcast | The channel is not verified, live streaming is not enabled, a restriction applies, or the encoder is using incorrect stream details. | Check channel verification and live eligibility in YouTube Studio, allow time for activation, and copy the current stream details into the encoder. |
| The encoder connects but viewers see no usable feed | The encoder is sending the wrong input, its output settings do not match the selected ingest configuration, or the playout source is silent or unavailable. | Check the encoder preview and YouTube’s incoming stream status, confirm the selected audio and video sources, and compare output settings with the current YouTube and encoder guidance. |
| Audio or video stops during the broadcast | The playlist ended, the playout application stopped, or the local computer, power or network failed. | Inspect the playlist and encoder state, restore the source or connection, restart the encoder if necessary, and use the recovery procedure tested before launch. |
| The stream is warned, interrupted or terminated after a song | YouTube detected third-party content; your permission may be incomplete, the channel may not be allowlisted, or the use may fall outside the agreed territories. | Review the notice and track at issue, check permission for both relevant rights layers and the live YouTube use, and contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting before resuming that material. |
| A stream key appears to have been exposed | Someone else may be able to send a feed using the key. | Regenerate or reset the key through YouTube Studio, update the encoder with the new details, and confirm that the expected broadcast is receiving the feed. |
7. Decide whether to run the encoder yourself or use cloud playout
Running an encoder on your own computer gives you direct control over the playout and outgoing program, but the computer, encoder and connection must remain operational. A cloud service can remove the need to leave a computer running at home; it does not remove the need to clear music rights or to meet YouTube’s rules.
