1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFor a continuous FFmpeg feed, use the loudnorm filter in single-pass mode and choose integrated loudness, loudness range, and true-peak limits for the actual music. FFmpeg’s defaults are not YouTube requirements, and YouTube’s live encoder guidance does not specify a LUFS target. For stereo RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube recommends AAC or MP3 audio at 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps; test the full stream and monitor its health.
Set a deliberate target with FFmpeg’s loudnorm
loudnorm is FFmpeg’s EBU R128 loudness-normalization filter. For a live, continuous feed, its single-pass mode is the practical starting point: FFmpeg documents single-pass operation for livestreams, while its two-pass workflow is intended for files. The filter’s documented defaults are −24 LUFS integrated loudness (I), 7 LU loudness range (LRA), and −2 dBTP maximum true peak (TP). These are filter defaults, not YouTube-mandated values. FFmpeg Filters Documentation
There is no single target supported by the cited YouTube guidance for every music stream. Pick values by testing representative tracks and transitions, and avoid a setting that causes unwanted level changes or undermines the music’s dynamics. A starting filter expression has this form:
loudnorm=I=<chosen-target>:LRA=<chosen-range>:TP=<chosen-true-peak>
Replace each placeholder with a value you have chosen for the program; the expression above is a template, not a prescribed target. In FFmpeg filter syntax, the names correspond to integrated loudness, loudness range, and maximum true peak. Consult the manual for the filter’s options and behavior before adding it to your full encoding command.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Single-pass and double-pass
- Single-pass: Use this for a continuous livestream unless your workflow has a specific reason to do otherwise. It can adapt processing as the live audio arrives.
- Double-pass: This is documented for files, where the source can be measured in one pass and processed in another. It is not a prerequisite for a live feed.
Dynamic and linear operation
loudnorm supports dynamic and linear modes. Linear operation requires measured integrated loudness, LRA, true peak, and threshold values; if its documented conditions are not met, the filter may revert to dynamic normalization. Do not assume that requesting linear operation guarantees it. Check FFmpeg’s filter output and documentation for the measurements and mode behavior relevant to your version and configuration.
Measure a representative playlist before going live
- Choose representative material. Include tracks at different recorded levels, quiet passages, louder passages, and the transitions used in the actual 24/7 playlist. A single typical track may not reveal the extremes.
- Inspect loudness and peaks. FFmpeg’s
ebur128filter measures loudness, andloudnormcan report measurements in its summary. Use those readings to understand the program; they are not a YouTube compliance certificate. - Adjust the target deliberately. Choose
I,LRA, andTPbased on the material and acceptable dynamics. Listen for conspicuous level shifts and inspect true-peak behavior across changes in track level. - Test the encoded stream end to end. Send representative audio through the intended FFmpeg and YouTube ingest setup before relying on it. Confirm that the audio is present, stable, and free of unexpected distortion or silence.
A loudness measurement describes the audio program being measured, not whether YouTube will accept or recommend its loudness. YouTube’s official live encoder page supplies audio encoding guidance but does not state a LUFS target. YouTube live encoder settings

Match audio encoding to the YouTube ingest protocol
Stereo RTMP or RTMPS
For stereo RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, YouTube lists AAC or MP3 and recommends a 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 kbps audio bitrate. Its live-stream encoding settings list CBR. Treat these as encoder guidance, separate from the loudness target you select for loudnorm. Check the current YouTube settings page when configuring the rest of the stream. YouTube live encoder settings
HLS
HLS has separate ingestion requirements; do not assume the RTMP/RTMPS settings cover it. YouTube’s HLS setup page lists AAC, AC3, and EAC3 audio and recommends 44.1 kHz stereo and 128 kbps stereo in its advanced settings. Follow that page’s requirements for segment handling and the selected protocol. Set up an HLS stream

Keep a 24/7 audio feed healthy
Loudness normalization cannot correct a disconnected ingest, unsupported codec, missing audio track, or unstable encoder. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the planned stream, checking stream health, and reviewing messages. Its streaming tips also advise leaving bandwidth headroom and continuously monitoring audio and video quality. YouTube streaming tips
If YouTube reports an unsupported live audio codec or an audio bitrate warning, check the settings for the ingestion protocol you selected and resolve the stream-health message. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance includes a 128 kbps audio recommendation in its bitrate warnings; a loudness setting does not replace codec or bitrate troubleshooting. Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | What to check | Practical response |
|---|---|---|
| The audio sounds uneven between tracks. | Measure a representative playlist, including transitions and quieter or louder material. | Review the chosen normalization targets and test again; no universal target is established by YouTube’s live encoder guidance. |
| The stream is silent or YouTube reports an audio problem. | Confirm that the outgoing stream contains an audio track and uses a codec supported for the selected ingest protocol. | Use the relevant YouTube protocol settings and inspect the stream-health message rather than changing loudness alone. |
| YouTube reports an audio bitrate warning. | Check the audio bitrate and protocol-specific encoder setup. | For stereo RTMP/RTMPS, use YouTube’s listed 128 kbps recommendation; consult the separate HLS guidance if using HLS. |
| Linear normalization does not behave as expected. | Check whether measured integrated loudness, LRA, true peak, and threshold values meet the filter’s documented conditions. | Review the loudnorm summary and manual; the filter may revert to dynamic mode when linear conditions are not met. |
| The stream degrades after launch. | Monitor YouTube stream health, audio/video quality, bandwidth headroom, and reported messages. | Test under conditions similar to the planned operation and address the reported ingest, encoding, or connectivity issue. |
