To see Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper in Milan, reserve a timed ticket through the official Museo del Cenacolo Vinciano channels before you travel. Reservations are required for every visitor, including infants and people using free admission. Arrive early, travel light, and check the museum’s official calendar and booking page for your date.
How to book a ticket
Book through the museum’s official channels. The museum lists different routes according to party size:
| Party size | Official booking route |
|---|---|
| Up to 5 tickets | Online booking |
| Up to 9 tickets | Call center |
| 10 or more people | Email for groups |
Check the official contact page for current booking instructions and limits. A reservation is required for all admission categories, including free admission and infants; do not assume that a visitor who does not need a paid ticket can arrive without booking. The museum’s visitor information describes reservations opening quarterly. Release dates and remaining tickets depend on the visit date, so use the official booking page for the next release and live availability. A release date for September–December 2026 tickets has already passed.
When to arrive and how long the visit takes
The museum asks visitors to arrive at the ticket office 30 minutes before the booked time. Allow time to collect and validate the ticket; after validation, proceed to the museum entrance at least 15 minutes before the time printed on it. The museum warns that late arrival can mean losing admission. Follow the instructions on your ticket and any current visitor notice.

The viewing itself is brief: the museum describes 15-minute visits for groups of up to 40 people at a time. Plan your day around that timed slot rather than expecting an open-ended gallery visit.
Opening hours and date-specific checks
The museum lists regular hours as Tuesday–Sunday, 8:15 a.m.–7:00 p.m., with last admission at 6:45 p.m. Special openings and closures can affect the schedule. Check the official visitor information and booking calendar for your specific date before setting travel plans.

What to bring—and what to leave behind
Travel light. Bulky bags and luggage, food, and drinks are prohibited inside the museum. The official visitor notice says limited lockers may be available at the ticket office for the visit period, subject to availability. Do not rely on them for luggage storage; leave larger bags at your accommodation or arrange storage elsewhere before arrival.

A standard timed admission is suited to visitors who mainly want to see the painting. A guided visit may be preferable if you want more explanation of the work and its setting. Before paying an outside tour operator, verify whether museum admission is included, whether the timed entry is secured, and what the operator’s current terms are. The museum’s official site also offers visitor preparation and education resources and describes a free official app; no paid physical item is necessary to attend.
