During the broadcast: watch live chat for the join alert
A new channel membership generates a bright green “New Member” message in the livestream’s chat. The new member’s profile picture is also pinned at the top of chat for five minutes. This is an individual join event, not a cumulative tally. YouTube documents the alert in its channel membership benefits guidance.
For a long-running broadcast, keep the chat visible and note each new-member alert as it appears if you need your own running tally. The cited documentation does not describe a separate live counter for new paid members.
After the broadcast: check stream analytics
- On a computer, open YouTube Studio and go to Content → Live.
- Select the completed livestream.
- Choose Analytics → Engagement.
YouTube says video-level metrics become available in YouTube Analytics within minutes after a livestream ends. The Engagement report includes stream information such as concurrent viewers and chat messages; YouTube’s documented workflow does not identify a count of new paid channel members there. What the available signals do—and do not—tell you

New members are not new subscribers
YouTube’s post-stream snapshot includes “New Subscribers,” meaning users who subscribed during the stream. A subscription is different from a paid channel membership, so that metric cannot be used as a new-member total. YouTube describes its live-stream metrics here.
Member Milestone Chats are not join alerts
Eligible continuing members can send Member Milestone Chats, starting from their second consecutive month. These highlighted messages recognize membership loyalty; they do not indicate that the person just joined. See YouTube’s membership levels and perks guidance.

What to expect from a 24/7 broadcast
The documented live-chat alert can show individual join events during a continuous broadcast. YouTube’s cited pages do not explain whether Studio supplies a cumulative new-member count for a 24/7 stream, or how any total behaves if the broadcast is interrupted or reset. Do not assume that a stream-level report provides an all-time membership tally.
