On an iPhone, play a song, tap the MiniPlayer, tap Playing Next, then swipe down to reveal your playing history. Tap Clear to remove the visible list. This clears the queue’s playing-history view; Apple does not say that it erases every listening record associated with your account or resets Apple Music Replay.
See and clear playing history on iPhone
- Open the Music app and start a song, or open the MiniPlayer for a song that is already playing.
- Tap the MiniPlayer at the bottom of the screen, then tap the Playing Next button.
- Swipe down on the queue to reveal the songs in History.
- Tap Clear to clear the visible playing history.
Apple documents a control to clear the history list, not a way to remove just one song from it. The queue and history are separate: removing queued songs changes what is due to play, while Clear in the history view clears the displayed list. Stop future listening from affecting Apple Music
To keep future plays from being used for Apple Music personalization, turn off Use Listening History on your iPhone or iPad:

Apple says this setting affects recommendations and Replay, prevents plays from appearing in Recently Played, and hides played music from Apple Music followers. It is a forward-looking control; Apple’s documentation does not say that turning it off deletes earlier listening activity or account data. Read Apple’s explanation of the setting and its effects.

There is a trade-off: with listening history off, Apple Music has less listening activity to use for recommendations and Replay. If another person occasionally uses your account and you want to avoid their plays changing your recommendations, you can turn the setting off for that period and switch it back on afterward. Apple also describes using a custom Focus to temporarily turn off the setting.
iPad
On iPad, open a playing song’s MiniPlayer, tap Playing Next, and look for the history section in the queue. Apple’s iPhone guide documents swiping down to reveal history and tapping Clear; the iPad layout can differ on its larger screen, so follow the labels shown in your version of Music. To change the future-listening setting, use Settings > Apps > Music > Use Listening History.

Mac
To stop future listening from being used for recommendations and Replay on Mac, open the Music app and choose Music > Settings > General, then turn off Use Listening History. Apple documents this setting and its effects in its Mac Music guide.
The available Apple documentation does not give a current, complete Mac-specific sequence for clearing the visible playing-history list. Do not assume that clearing the queue is the same as clearing history; check the controls in your installed Music app before using a clear option.

Windows
In the Apple Music app for Windows, start playing music, select Playing Next, then select History to view previous songs. Apple’s Windows guide mentions a Clear link near the History controls, but its surrounding queue instructions make the effect of clearing ambiguous. Check the label and result in your installed app rather than treating it as a confirmed way to erase account-level listening data. Apple documents the interface in its Windows guide to Playing Next and History.
To control future listening-history use, open Apple Music settings and turn off Use listening history. Apple says the setting affects Recently Played, Replay mixes, recommendations, and what followers can see; see its Windows listening-history settings guide.

Android
Apple’s documented Android path controls whether future listening is used, but the sources here do not establish a current Android procedure for viewing or manually clearing the queue’s history. To change the setting, open Apple Music, tap More > Settings, then turn Use Listening History on or off. Avoid assuming that this setting deletes past activity.

Not necessarily. Apple describes Replay as a separate set of listening insights calculated from listening history, play counts, and time spent listening. Clearing the visible playing-history list is not documented as deleting Replay statistics or all historical data. Turning off Use Listening History affects future recommendations and Replay content, but Apple does not specify how quickly the change takes effect or whether previously calculated Replay figures are recalculated.

Replay is available in the Music app or at replay.music.apple.com, provided there is enough listening activity. If Replay is missing, Apple recommends keeping Use Listening History enabled across devices. See Apple’s Replay requirements and listening-history information. Availability and features can vary by country or region.

- It clears: the visible playing-history list when you use the documented iPhone Clear control.
- It is not the same as: clearing songs from the Playing Next queue, turning off listening history, or deleting Safari browsing history.
- It is not documented as: deleting Replay data, erasing all account-level listening data, or removing library additions, downloads, favorites, playlists, ratings, or your subscription.
- Turning off Use Listening History: changes how future listening is used for Apple Music personalization and visibility; it is not a documented historical eraser.
Safari history is separate. Clearing Safari browsing history does not clear history maintained by Apple Music or other apps. Apple explains this distinction in its Safari cache and history guidance.

If History or Clear is missing
- Playing Next is unavailable: Start a song or open the MiniPlayer for one that is playing, then open Playing Next.
- You see only the queue: On iPhone, swipe down within the Playing Next view to reveal History.
- History is empty: Check whether Use Listening History is off. If it is on and the list is still empty, confirm you are signed into the expected Apple Account and check the current app layout; these are troubleshooting possibilities, not guaranteed causes.
- Clear is missing or disabled: Confirm you are in History rather than the queue. Controls and layout can vary by platform and app version; Apple’s Windows documentation is not fully clear about what its Clear link removes.
- Recommendations still reflect unwanted plays: Turn off Use Listening History to prevent future listening from influencing them. Clearing the visible list is not documented as resetting recommendations instantly.
- Devices show different results: Do not assume that clearing a visible list on one device removes history everywhere. Apple’s cited instructions do not promise cross-device or account-wide deletion.
