How to Schedule Multiple YouTube Livestreams From One OBS Setup

Schedule each YouTube broadcast as its own event, then connect OBS to that event’s stream details and verify the preview before going live.

You can schedule several future YouTube livestreams from one OBS setup by creating a separate event for each broadcast in YouTube Studio, then connecting OBS to the stream URL and key for the event you are about to air. Scheduling does not make OBS switch events or keys automatically. If you mean simultaneous broadcasts instead, you need a multi-output workflow, not a schedule.

First, decide what “multiple” means

There are three different workflows that can sound like “multiple livestreams”:

  • Several broadcasts at different times: schedule each as its own YouTube event and manually use the matching event details in OBS when it is time to broadcast.
  • The same OBS production sent to multiple destinations at once: configure multiple outputs, each pointed at the appropriate YouTube destination and event.
  • Different feeds or scenes live at once: this requires separate feeds or output configurations. YouTube and OBS documentation cited here do not establish a one-click setup for that case.

The steps below cover the standard, reliable workflow for separate events at different times, then explain the simultaneous-output alternative.

Schedule separate YouTube events for future broadcasts

  1. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, then open the Manage tab.
  2. Create an event. Select Schedule Stream. Create a new event for each broadcast, or choose to reuse settings when the previous event’s details are appropriate. Review each event’s title, visibility, date and time, and other metadata. Scheduling creates a distinct event page that you can share so viewers can find the broadcast and set a reminder. YouTube’s encoder livestream instructions describe this process.
  3. Record which event is which. Keep a simple schedule of broadcast time, event title, and destination. This helps prevent sending a feed to the wrong scheduled event when several are waiting in Live Control Room.
  4. Use the matching event’s stream details in OBS. Open the scheduled event’s stream settings and use its stream URL and key in OBS. A stream key identifies where the encoder sends its feed and allows YouTube to accept it; treat it like a password and do not publish or share it. YouTube allows keys to be created and reused. If you choose to reuse settings, verify the copied key and metadata before broadcasting: YouTube says reuse copies the stream key, metadata, and settings. See Manage live stream settings.
  5. Start OBS early and check the right preview. YouTube advises setting up the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. In the Live Control Room for the intended event, wait for the preview, confirm it is the correct feed, and check stream health before selecting Go live. YouTube’s live streaming tips cover encoder preparation and preview checks.
  6. End the broadcast cleanly. When the event is over, end the stream in Live Control Room and stop sending from the encoder as YouTube instructs. Before the next scheduled broadcast, select that event’s details and verify its preview rather than assuming OBS has switched to it.

What OBS will—and will not—schedule for you

The YouTube workflow requires connecting an encoder with the event’s stream URL and key, then starting the event from Live Control Room. Scheduling the YouTube event does not by itself tell OBS when to start, which event to select, or which key to use. OBS’s output documentation describes streaming and recording outputs, including RTMP service-bound outputs, not a calendar or scheduled-event selector. See the OBS output API reference.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

For a sequence of documentaries, premieres, or other pre-recorded programs, plan the event schedule separately from the OBS operation. At broadcast time, an operator still needs to select the correct scheduled event, configure or verify its stream details, start the encoder, and confirm the preview.

If you need two or more streams live at the same time

First identify whether you want one identical OBS program sent to several YouTube channels/events, or distinct feeds running concurrently. These are different multi-output setups. The OBS Project forum has a resource for the third-party Multiple RTMP Outputs add-on, which describes sending to multiple platforms or channels. That resource does not establish automatic creation of scheduled YouTube events or automatic selection of each event’s key.

Configure each destination with the corresponding event’s details, then test with an unlisted event and confirm that the intended preview appears at every destination before going public. OBS’s output API documents output components, but the cited sources do not establish specific compatibility by OBS version or operating system, additional CPU/GPU/network requirements, or a numeric performance estimate. Treat each additional output as a configuration to test on your own setup rather than assuming it has no resource cost.

YouTube’s documented active-stream limits

YouTube Help documents a limit of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. These are platform limits, not a guarantee that a particular computer, network, or channel configuration can sustain that many simultaneous streams. Check the current event and key setup in YouTube Studio before planning around the limits; the details are in YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.

Troubleshooting the common scheduling mistakes

  • The preview appears on the wrong event: OBS may be using another event’s key or URL, particularly if settings were reused. Stop and check the intended event’s stream details, then confirm its Live Control Room preview before going live.
  • The scheduled event exists, but no preview appears: confirm OBS is sending to that event’s stream URL and key and that the encoder is running. Allow time for the preview to appear; check the event’s stream health rather than starting a different scheduled event by mistake.
  • A reused event has the wrong title, date, visibility, or key: review the copied metadata and settings before relying on them. Reuse can copy the earlier stream key as well as event settings; use a new event or correct the details as needed.
  • A simultaneous destination does not receive the feed: inspect that destination’s own output configuration and event details, then test it as an unlisted event. Do not assume a multiple-output add-on schedules events or chooses keys for you.
  • You reach a YouTube stream or key limit: check how many streams are active on the channel and on the selected key. YouTube documents the 10-per-channel and 3-per-key limits; an extra OBS output does not remove them.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is an always-on YouTube channel playing uploaded documentary recordings, rather than a set of individually timed OBS events, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded file at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. This is for uploaded videos streamed to YouTube, not a camera-based production or an automatic scheduler for multiple distinct live events. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
