YouTube Studio can schedule a livestream event and its upcoming watch page, but the scheduling steps do not set up automatic morning-to-evening playlist changes. To rotate pre-recorded videos, schedule the event in YouTube Studio, configure playlist timing in your chosen encoder or automation system, and test the transition, reconnects and archive behavior before you promise viewers a 24/7 schedule.
What YouTube scheduling does—and what it does not do
YouTube’s scheduled livestream feature creates an event viewers can find and, where available, share ahead of time. Viewers can choose “Notify me” to receive a reminder. When the event is due, an encoder sends the live feed to YouTube using the stream URL and key.
That event scheduling is separate from deciding which video plays at a given hour. The YouTube Help instructions for scheduled encoder streams do not describe a native YouTube Studio control that switches between morning and evening playlists automatically. Set up that timing in your selected encoder or playlist automation tool, and check its current documentation for the exact controls.
Nor should a scheduled event be treated as proof that one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will run or archive as expected. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; the encoder instructions do not establish a continuity or archive guarantee for a single 24-hour event. Check channel eligibility first
Before setting up the event, verify the channel and confirm it can livestream. YouTube Help says a channel must be verified and have no livestream restrictions in the previous 90 days. Account status and feature access can change, so check the current YouTube Studio interface as well. See YouTube live streaming tips.
Schedule the YouTube event
- Open the scheduling flow. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live → Manage → Schedule stream.
- Create an event or reuse settings. Review its title, description, visibility and other metadata before publishing the schedule.
- Use the upcoming page. Scheduling can make the event appear as upcoming so viewers can share its URL and opt into “Notify me.”
- Copy the encoder details. In the scheduled event, find the stream URL and key needed by your encoder. Treat the key like a password: it authorizes the encoder to send a feed to your channel. If it is exposed, YouTube says you can reset it in Live Control Room.

Set up the morning and evening playlist changes
Configure the media schedule in the encoder or playlist automation system that will send your feed. YouTube’s scheduling guidance covers the event and encoder connection; it does not specify how to time playlist changes. The precise controls therefore depend on your chosen system, and no particular third-party workflow can be assumed from YouTube’s instructions.

- Timed playlist or scene changes at the intended morning and evening transition times.
- What happens if the encoder disconnects and reconnects, including which playlist resumes.
- Audio/video synchronization across files and at the transition.
- Stream-key security and who can access or change the automation.
- Whether it makes local recordings and how you recover them if the stream or archive fails.
- How much operator attention and recurring cost the setup requires.
These are comparison questions, not claims about the capabilities of any named encoder. YouTube describes mobile, webcam and encoder routes, and recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events; specialized hardware is not required merely to schedule a YouTube stream.
Test the full schedule before announcing it
- Run through the complete day/night transition. Confirm that the morning playlist starts as intended, the evening playlist takes over at the chosen time, and the order and audio/video output are right.
- Test a reconnect. Simulate or observe a disconnect and verify what the encoder does when it reconnects, including whether playback resumes as expected.
- Check the viewer experience. YouTube recommends checking the preview and confirming access from the channel or watch page and on mobile.
- Monitor the stream. Watch audio and video quality during the transition and while the stream is live, rather than assuming a successful schedule means the feed is healthy.
- Check the archive boundary. Confirm what happens to recordings and the event archive in your actual setup. YouTube’s stated automatic-archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours, not a 24-hour continuity guarantee.
These checks follow YouTube’s operational recommendations in its livestream tips. The platform’s reviewed guidance is general; it does not establish a separate India-specific scheduling procedure.

Plan viewer expectations and review performance
Choose a schedule you can sustain, tell viewers when the morning and evening programming will run, and communicate changes. YouTube Help calls a “consistent, sustainable release schedule” important for audience expectations and creator well-being. Use Studio metrics to review stream health and performance, then reconsider the schedule, content mix, archive choices and production costs against the audience and revenue you actually see. Check rights for every playlist
Scheduling a video as part of a livestream does not establish that you have the right to broadcast its music, footage or other material. Confirm that the rights cover livestream use and any archive or replay you intend to leave available. The YouTube scheduling guidance does not resolve rights for your particular catalog, so do not assume that a track is cleared just because it is available to play or has been used elsewhere.
