To schedule a 24/7 YouTube live stream, create an upcoming event in YouTube Studio, then use an encoder to send video continuously to that event. Scheduling sets the event’s title, visibility and start time; it does not generate a video feed or keep one running. For a continuous broadcast, the encoder and its video source must remain active, and someone or something must monitor the stream.
Before you schedule: make sure the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. If this is the channel’s first live stream, activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned start. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions.
Schedule the event in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create > Go Live.
- In Live Control Room, open Manage > Schedule stream.
- Choose to reuse settings from a previous stream or create a new stream.
- Enter the event details, including its title, visibility and scheduled time, then save it.
The scheduled event can appear as an upcoming stream, allowing viewers to visit it and opt into reminders. It is not yet a live broadcast: the encoder still has to connect and send content. YouTube’s live stream settings guidance covers stream controls and settings. Interface labels may change, so check Live Control Room if the path differs.
Connect an encoder and start the broadcast
- In the scheduled stream’s Live Control Room settings, copy the YouTube Live server URL and stream key.
- Enter those values in your encoder. YouTube supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; its scheduling workflow does not require a particular product.
- Start the encoder’s feed at the planned time and wait for the incoming video preview in Live Control Room.
- Check the preview, audio and stream health, then select Go live in Live Control Room.
Treat the stream key like a password. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder with the replacement. Check whether the selected stream key and encoder have auto-start or auto-stop controls before relying on an automated handoff; these settings can affect when a feed starts or ends. See YouTube’s stream settings documentation.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
To end the scheduled stream, use End Stream in Live Control Room and stop sending content from the encoder. A 24/7 schedule means keeping a feed going continuously, not repeatedly scheduling one event per day.
Prepare for continuous operation
A scheduled start is not an uptime plan. Keep the encoder and its source content running, and monitor the incoming video, audio and stream health. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend configuring the encoder at least two hours ahead, starting it at least 15 minutes before the planned event, checking the preview, and testing a backup encoder by simulating a primary-encoder failure. These are preparation recommendations, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Confirm that the video source continues playing and that audio remains present and suitable throughout the broadcast.
- Test the encoder, network and any backup arrangement before relying on them for an unattended period.
- Have a recovery plan for a failed encoder, interrupted connection or lost stream key, and check the Live Control Room rather than assuming the feed recovered.
Choose a suitable encoder and protocol
You can use software or standalone hardware. Choose based on the encoder’s documented support for your ingest protocol, long-running operation, monitoring and restart or failover behavior. YouTube’s encoder guidance does not endorse a particular model. Hardware is optional, not a requirement for scheduling.
For a typical scheduled stream, YouTube’s instructions use the server URL and stream key. YouTube also documents RTMP/RTMPS and HLS workflows. HLS is intended for HDR or codecs that RTMP does not support; it requires an HLS-capable encoder and has higher latency because it sends video in segments. Use the protocol supported by your encoder and appropriate to your production needs. See YouTube’s HLS setup instructions.

The consulted YouTube setup guidance does not establish a universal bitrate, resolution or keyframe interval for every encoder and stream. Use the current recommendations for your chosen encoder and YouTube’s applicable settings rather than assuming one value fits all productions.
Plan the recording and archive separately
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not promise automatic archiving for a continuous broadcast longer than 12 hours. If preserving the full program matters, arrange an independent recording or archive and verify that it is capturing successfully; do not rely on a 24/7 stream automatically becoming one complete YouTube archive. See YouTube’s encoder and live-stream guidance.

Copyright, permissions and documentary footage
Scheduling does not grant rights to the footage, music or other material in a stream. Before broadcasting a documentary or playlist, make sure you have the necessary rights and permissions for the video and audio, including material that may be licensed separately. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and operational setup do not determine whether a particular program is permitted or monetizable. Review the applicable YouTube rules for your content before going live.

| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The channel cannot start a live stream. | The channel is not verified, has a live-stream restriction within the prior 90 days, or first-time activation is still pending. | Check channel eligibility and enable live streaming ahead of time; first activation may take up to 24 hours. |
| The scheduled event exists, but viewers do not see a live picture. | Scheduling created the event, but an encoder has not sent a feed, or the encoder settings do not match the stream. | Confirm the encoder has the correct server URL and stream key, start its feed, and wait for the Live Control Room preview before selecting Go live. |
| The feed does not appear in preview. | The encoder may not be sending content, or its connection or stream settings may be incorrect. | Check that the encoder is running and configured with the event’s current ingest details. Verify its protocol support and inspect the Live Control Room status. |
| The stream stops or fails during a long broadcast. | The encoder, source or connection may have stopped; scheduling alone does not keep them active. | Check the encoder and source, monitor Live Control Room, and test a backup or restart procedure before the broadcast. |
| The stream key may have been exposed. | Anyone with the key may be able to send a feed to the stream. | Reset the key in Live Control Room and replace it in the encoder. |
| A long broadcast is missing from the expected archive. | YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours, not a continuous stream beyond that duration. | Use an independent recording plan and verify capture during the broadcast. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a pre-recorded program to stay live on YouTube without leaving a computer or home connection running, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos; it does not broadcast from a camera.
