There is no single research-backed start time for all Indian viewers: check your channel’s audience geography and analytics, test a schedule, and refine it. YouTube access, music permissions and a plan for monitoring interruptions must be in place before you rely on an always-on stream.
Design the schedule around devotional dayparts
A 24/7 stream is more useful when it has a clear rhythm than when it simply repeats one undifferentiated playlist. Treat the blocks below as a planning framework to test, not as measured rankings of when Indian viewers are most active. The available evidence does not establish a universal best clock time or quantify the relative size of morning, evening or overnight audiences.

Prepare YouTube access before scheduling
- Check eligibility. Verify the channel and confirm it has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
- Enable a first stream early. YouTube for Artists advises enabling a first-time stream at least 24 hours in advance and recommends an unlisted test. Do not leave first-time setup until the intended launch window. See YouTube for Artists.
- Choose a production path. YouTube supports mobile, webcam, encoder and console streaming. An encoder is useful when you need more production control or hardware such as microphones, cameras or preamps; it is not mandatory for every stream. YouTube’s setup page explains the available methods: Live streaming on YouTube.
- Schedule the public event. In YouTube Studio’s live-streaming tools, set the event’s title, description, visibility, start time and image to match the actual devotional sequence. A scheduled event communicates when a stream is intended to begin; scheduling alone does not keep a broadcast running continuously.
- Test and monitor. Run the unlisted test before launch. After starting the public broadcast, monitor it and have a response for a dropped source, power or network problem, or rights interruption. YouTube’s documentation describes copyright interruptions but does not prescribe a particular 24/7 uptime or backup configuration.
Choose a format and production setup that fit the visuals
YouTube supports mobile, webcam, encoder and console workflows. Pick based on what the viewer should see and how much production control you need. For a pre-recorded devotional sequence with composed visuals, an encoder can provide controlled output and support additional audio or camera hardware. If your intended program is simpler, the other supported methods may fit; continuous operation still depends on the chosen source and its operating plan.

“Live streaming encoder” is a common equipment search phrase, not a specification. The reviewed guidance does not establish a recommended encoder model or minimum specification for continuous 24/7 use. Check compatibility with your production workflow and whether the equipment is suitable for continuous operation before buying.
Horizontal, vertical or dual format
Horizontal is the conventional viewing format. Vertical streams may be eligible for discovery in the Shorts feed, and YouTube’s Live Control Room guidance describes dual horizontal and vertical streaming with format-specific feature differences. Choose vertical only if the portrait visuals serve the program and Shorts-feed discovery matters to your plan. Check the current Live Control Room options and your channel analytics before committing to a format; interface features can change.

Clear rights for the actual recordings and visuals
A devotional or traditional song is not automatically free to reuse as a recording. A composition, a particular performance or arrangement, and a sound recording may involve distinct rights. Keep permission or license records for the specific audio and visuals in your loop. Do not assume that owning a CD, finding a track on another YouTube channel, devotional intent or public access grants permission to rebroadcast it.
YouTube states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder image, warn the creator, interrupt the broadcast or terminate it if third-party material remains. A license by itself may not prevent an interruption: the rights owner may also need to add your channel to the Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and resolve permissions and platform identification before relying on a long scheduled broadcast. YouTube for Artists also recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using protected music.

Plan for unattended playout and recovery
A scheduled YouTube event and a 24/7 playout source solve different problems. The event tells viewers when a broadcast is due; a source must keep supplying the program. A local computer is one way to supply it, but it ties continuity to that computer, its power and its connection. Hosted cloud playout is another operational option described by vendors, not an official YouTube requirement or independently validated reliability guarantee.
Before choosing any unattended setup, evaluate its monitoring, restart behavior after a disconnect, stream-key security, support and total cost. Keep access to the stream key restricted, and decide who will respond if YouTube or the playout source interrupts the broadcast. The evidence available does not establish a universal network requirement, backup configuration or provider reliability figure for this use case.

YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is a platform-wide figure for that quarter, not an India-specific or devotional-category statistic, and it does not predict the audience of an individual 24/7 channel.
