Yes. One VPS can run two continuous YouTube music-radio feeds if it has enough sustained outbound bandwidth and compute for both encoder jobs, and you configure each feed as a separate output with its own matching YouTube stream key and server URL. YouTube’s current Help guidance allows up to 10 active streams per channel and up to 3 active streams per stream key, with both limits applying at once. The two streams still need independent health checks; a process running does not prove YouTube is receiving healthy audio and video.
What you need before starting
- Two YouTube channels, or one channel able to host both broadcasts within its active-stream limits.
- Live streaming enabled and eligible on each channel. YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days.
- A VPS with sufficient sustained upload capacity and compute for two encoder outputs. Requirements depend on whether you re-encode, the codec, resolution, frame rate and bitrate; YouTube does not publish a VPS sizing formula.
- Two music programs that you have the rights to stream, plus any required artwork or visual loop.
- An encoder such as FFmpeg, installed and checked against the version available on your VPS. YouTube does not prescribe an FFmpeg command or process supervisor for this setup.
YouTube Help sets the concurrency limits at 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. Both limits apply simultaneously, so check the channels and keys you intend to use before scheduling a continuous operation.
Set up two distinct broadcasts and feed configurations
- Check live eligibility. In YouTube Studio, confirm live streaming is enabled on both intended channels and that neither is restricted. Allow for any eligibility activation time shown in Studio.
- Create or schedule each broadcast. In YouTube Studio, create a separate live event for each music channel or program. Copy the ingest server URL and stream key shown for each event or channel configuration.
- Pair each encoder output with its own credentials. Configure output one with feed one’s server URL and key, and output two with feed two’s URL and key. Keep the keys private.
- Run two supervised encoder jobs. Treat them as separate processes with separate inputs, output settings and logs. Choose a process supervisor or service manager appropriate to your operating system, and validate its restart behavior on your installed system; YouTube does not specify a particular supervisor or recovery policy.
- Start one feed at a time and verify it. Check each independently in YouTube Live Control Room before leaving both running. Confirm that the intended channel receives the intended music and that audio is audible.
A YouTube liveStream represents the incoming audio/video feed and its settings; a liveBroadcast represents the event and watch page. Google’s API guide allows a stream to be bound to multiple broadcasts, but that can duplicate the same incoming content. It is not a way to create two different music programs from one input. For two distinct radio feeds, configure two incoming feeds. Google says different channels need a different stream for each channel.
Choose encoder settings for each feed
Use settings supported by YouTube for the specific codec, resolution and frame rate selected for each output. YouTube recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a 2-second keyframe interval; do not exceed 4 seconds. The published bitrate recommendations vary by codec and profile, so consult the current YouTube settings table for each feed rather than applying one profile’s number to another.

| Setting | YouTube guidance | Practical application to two feeds |
|---|---|---|
| Ingest protocol | RTMP or RTMPS accepted; RTMPS recommended | Use the matching endpoint and server details provided for each broadcast. |
| Video codec | H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 listed | Select a codec supported by your encoder and verify it against YouTube’s current ingest guidance. |
| Bitrate mode | CBR recommended | Set and monitor each output independently; rates differ by codec, resolution and frame rate. |
| Keyframes | 2 seconds recommended; no more than 4 seconds | Apply the setting to each encoder output. |
| Frame rate | Up to 60 fps | Use the rate appropriate to the source and selected resolution. |
| Audio | AAC or MP3; 128 Kbps stereo and 44.1 kHz stereo sampling are listed | Check the actual audio output on both channels after connecting. |
For a concrete example only, YouTube’s table recommends 6 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p60 and lists 17 Mbps for that codec and profile. Those figures are not universal settings: use the current table for your chosen codec and profile.
RTMPS is RTMP tunneled through SSL/TLS. Google’s guidance specifies a valid endpoint/path and port 443, and notes that the server hostname is needed for authentication through SNI. Use the complete endpoint details YouTube gives you, rather than assuming a generic server address.

Plan VPS bandwidth and compute for both outputs
Each independently transmitted feed needs its own outbound payload. As a rough planning inference, add the configured video and audio bitrates for both outputs, then allow for protocol overhead and operating headroom. This is not a YouTube sizing formula, and YouTube does not specify the required VPS CPU, memory, safety margin or provider egress allowance.
- If you re-encode: the VPS must perform the encoding work for both jobs. The compute load depends on the input media, codec and output profiles.
- If the source already matches the required output: copying compliant media may avoid the encoder workload, but confirm compatibility and the resulting stream health.
- Check provider limits: verify sustained network throughput and any VPS egress or traffic limits in the host’s current terms.
- Benchmark the real workload: test both jobs together at the intended settings and monitor resource use and output health before relying on the setup continuously.
Monitor both feeds, not just the processes
A running FFmpeg process or service only shows that software has not exited. YouTube’s stream health can flag low bitrate, frame-rate mismatch or missing audio. In Live Control Room, inspect the status of each output separately and listen to each channel after launch and during operation.

- Keep separate logs and alerts for the two encoder jobs so a failure in one is not obscured by the other.
- Check for the expected ingest status and audible audio on both watch pages.
- If one output drops, inspect its own endpoint, key, network path and encoder health before restarting it; do not assume the other feed has the same problem.
- Test any automatic restart or watchdog behavior yourself. The official YouTube guidance does not prescribe a recovery policy for VPS processes.
Protect stream keys and music rights
Treat each stream key like a credential: do not put it in public repositories, screenshots, shared scripts or logs. If a key is exposed, treat it as an account-security issue and rotate or replace it through YouTube Studio as appropriate.
A VPS, encoder and stream key do not grant permission to broadcast music. YouTube requires live content to follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Confirm that you have the necessary rights for every track and any other material in the feed; no particular track or library is cleared merely by using this setup.

Understand the replay limitation for long-running streams
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived when ended. That statement does not establish that an uninterrupted stream lasting longer than 12 hours will have a complete archive. If a full replay matters, record the source independently or plan periodic event endings, and test the recording and storage workflow separately from the live encoder.
Troubleshooting two VPS outputs
| Symptom | Likely checks | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| One broadcast does not receive a signal | That job’s stream key, server URL, endpoint path, port and network access | Compare the output configuration with the matching YouTube event details; verify the RTMPS endpoint and port 443 when using RTMPS. |
| YouTube reports low bitrate | Configured bitrate, VPS upload capacity, competing traffic and encoder output | Check the current recommended bitrate for that feed’s codec and profile, then test the two-feed load together. |
| Video frame-rate mismatch | Source frame rate and encoder output frame rate | Adjust the output to a supported profile and confirm the health status in Live Control Room. |
| Video is live but audio is missing | Input audio track selection, output codec and audio mapping | Confirm an audio stream is present in the encoder output and listen to the feed after reconnecting. |
| Both jobs run but feeds contain the same program | Input paths, playlists and job configuration | Give each job the intended distinct source. A single incoming stream bound to multiple broadcast pages duplicates content rather than creating different feeds. |
| Stream works but the replay is incomplete or absent | Whether the event ended and its duration | Do not rely on automatic archiving for a continuous run of 12 hours or longer; use an independent recording or planned event endings. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is two YouTube music feeds without maintaining encoder jobs on a VPS, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos; it does not broadcast from a camera. Nothing has to stay on at home, each slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price, and it can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or its pricing page. One slot is for one always-on stream; contact StreamNeo support for five or more slots. Start the free day on StreamNeo.
