You can run a Malayalam rain-and-thunder ambience stream around the clock by broadcasting a rights-cleared recording through an encoder and keeping the encoder online—on a local computer, a server you manage, or a cloud service. First confirm your channel is eligible, test the stream privately or unlisted, and plan for copyright interruptions and local recording. A continuous 24-hour broadcast is not guaranteed to produce a complete YouTube replay or qualify for monetization.
1. Clear the rain, thunder, and visuals for livestream use
Start with recordings and visuals you created yourself or have permission to use for both the livestream and any archive you publish. Keep the original files, contracts, and the exact license terms. A “royalty-free” label alone does not establish that a track is cleared for YouTube livestreaming and archiving.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party material, including other live broadcasts. If it detects a match, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop using the material; if it continues, the broadcast may be interrupted or terminated. A license does not necessarily prevent an automated match. Ask the rights owner whether they can add your channel to their Content ID allowlist if the material may be matched. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
For a documentary-oriented channel, make the presentation specific and honest: identify the ambience as Malayalam-language or intended for Malayalam-speaking listeners, describe the sounds accurately, and do not suggest that the audio has proven sleep or health effects. The available evidence does not establish that rain or thunder improves sleep.

2. Confirm that your channel can go live
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. The minimum age to livestream is 16. Check the live feature in YouTube Studio before preparing a launch; account notices or restrictions can prevent broadcasting. Consult YouTube’s “Get started with live streaming” help page for current eligibility details.
3. Set up an encoder broadcast with OBS
An encoder sends your prepared video and audio to YouTube as a live broadcast. OBS is one software option; its Help Portal provides official support material. YouTube and software interfaces can change, so follow the current Studio prompts and the current OBS settings rather than relying on old screenshots.

- Create the broadcast: In YouTube Studio, open the live-streaming control room and create a stream for the Malayalam rain-and-thunder ambience. Select an encoder/streaming-software setup when prompted.
- Connect OBS: Use the stream configuration and stream key shown in YouTube Studio to connect OBS. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it, put it in a public screenshot, or share it with anyone who should not control the broadcast. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in Studio before going live.
- Prepare the media: Load the licensed or original ambience recording and intended visuals into OBS. Confirm that the audio is routed to the stream, is audible, and does not clip. Set the stream title and description to describe the actual content; do not imply that it is a live field recording if it is a playback.
- Start with a private or unlisted test: Start the encoder and check the preview/control room for picture, sound, stable playback, and account or copyright notices. Test what happens after a brief network interruption. These checks are practical recommendations, not results from testing a particular computer or connection.
- Go public only after the test: Confirm the intended visibility, title, description, and stream output in Studio, then start the public broadcast. Keep the control room available for monitoring.
4. Choose how to keep the broadcast running
A 24/7 stream needs more than a video loop: the encoder must remain connected, audio and video must continue, and someone or something must respond to failures. The main approaches differ in who handles power, network, recovery, and maintenance.
| Approach | What stays responsible for continuity | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Local computer running OBS | Your computer, power, home internet, OBS, and monitoring | Direct control, but the computer and connection must stay available and failures need attention. |
| Self-managed server | Your server, streaming configuration, and recovery process | More control for technical users, with setup and maintenance responsibility on the channel owner. |
| Managed cloud service | The service handles the uploaded playback and its cloud-side recovery behavior; you still need to manage the YouTube channel and content rights | Can avoid leaving a home computer running; verify current limits, price, data handling, and recovery behavior with the provider. |
5. Protect your archive: 24 hours live is not 24 hours replayable
YouTube says it can automatically archive a live stream if it is less than 12 hours. It warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all, and recommends keeping a local backup. That makes an uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast a poor basis for relying on a complete YouTube replay. See YouTube’s “Archive live streams” guidance.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

If a complete archive matters, record locally and test the storage and recording workflow before launch. Alternatively, plan a schedule that ends and restarts streams before they exceed 12 hours; that can make individual broadcasts eligible for automatic archiving, but it does not replace testing your own setup or keeping a local copy when the recording is important.
6. Monitor the stream and recover deliberately
Do not assume the broadcast is healthy just because OBS or another encoder process is still open. Check the live control room and account notices during operation, and decide in advance who will respond to an interruption.

- No picture or sound: Check the Studio preview, encoder output, selected media, and audio routing. Make a short test before returning to public.
- Encoder disconnected: Check local power and network or, for a server, its process and connection. Reconnect from the encoder and confirm that Studio reports the stream as live.
- Copyright warning or placeholder: Stop or replace the matched material. Review the rights and allowlisting status with the owner; do not simply restart with the same disputed content.
- Stream stopped unexpectedly: Check Studio and account notices for policy or eligibility messages, then inspect the encoder and connection. YouTube retains enforcement powers over live streams, so a running machine alone cannot guarantee availability.
- Missing or incomplete replay: A stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived. Use the local recording you planned rather than assuming YouTube will reconstruct the full broadcast.
7. Treat monetization as a separate policy question
Having permission to use a sound recording addresses copyright, not monetization eligibility. YouTube’s monetization rules apply to livestreams; its July 15, 2025 update renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material is ineligible. Reviewers may consider the channel’s theme, popular and recent videos, share of watch time, metadata, and About section. A looping ambience stream is not guaranteed to qualify, and changing a loop slightly does not guarantee eligibility. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies and make the channel’s originality and viewer value clear.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos to YouTube, not from a camera. The stream runs in the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. For Indian creators, UPI is available. Start the free first day.
