To loop Hindi devotional music on YouTube Live with OBS, load a rights-cleared audio or video file into an OBS Media Source, enable Loop, connect OBS to an encoder stream in YouTube Live Control Room, and test the stream before making it public. The crucial first step is confirming that the exact recording is licensed for live streaming—and for any replay you keep.
Before you set up OBS: check channel access and music rights
Confirm the channel can stream
YouTube’s encoder live-streaming guidance requires a verified channel with no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. Check the current eligibility and setup prompts there, since platform rules can change. Clear the exact recording for live use
A bhajan, mantra, hymn, or traditional melody is not automatically free to stream. The composition, arrangement, performance, and sound recording can have separate rights. Use your own recording or obtain permission or a license that expressly covers YouTube live streaming, the intended territories, monetization if applicable, and any retained archive or video on demand. YouTube’s live terms make the streamer responsible for having the necessary rights, including relevant music rights. YouTube Terms of Service.
Do not assume a purchase, a “royalty-free” label, or music found online clears the live use. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches, and a match may interrupt or terminate a stream. A license alone may not prevent that: ask the rights holder whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist. Creator Music licensing currently does not support live content, so it is not a clearance route for this stream. Choose how your devotional music will repeat

These controls are documented in the OBS Project’s Media Sources guide. OBS documents the Media Source loop option as off by default, so check it rather than assuming the file will repeat.
Set up the loop and scene in OBS
- Create a scene: In OBS, use the Scenes panel to add a scene for the devotional stream.
- Add the recording: In Sources, select + and choose Media Source. Create a new source, browse to the rights-cleared local file, and enable Loop in its properties. For a multi-file playlist, add VLC Video, select the playlist files, and enable Loop Playlist.
- Compose the picture: If you want visuals, add a rights-cleared still image or title text as another source. Keep the scene simple and check that the image is visible in the OBS preview. OBS scenes and sources are the parts used to compose what viewers see; its overview recommends leaving defaults alone unless you know why a change is needed. OBS Studio overview.
- Check the audio: Play the source and watch OBS’s audio mixer for activity. Listen on headphones or another device to confirm the sound is clear and not muted or distorted. Make sure the ending returns to the beginning cleanly; fix gaps or abrupt transitions in the source file if needed.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live Control Room
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select the YouTube service if available, and enter the stream key. If configuring a custom service, use the stream URL supplied by YouTube and the key from the same Live Control Room stream. OBS labels may vary by version.
- Keep the key private. YouTube describes it as password-like; do not show it in screenshots or share it publicly. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update OBS with the new key. YouTube encoder setup guidance.
Choose output settings that fit your connection
There is no single bitrate that suits every stream. Match the output resolution and frame rate to your stable upload capacity, and leave enough bandwidth for normal network variation. YouTube recommends testing with a similar audio and video pattern, checking the preview, and monitoring stream health. Its current encoder guidance recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion and lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR); up to 60 fps; and a 2-second keyframe interval, not exceeding 4 seconds. Follow the current values and codec support shown in YouTube’s live encoder settings.

These are YouTube’s H.264 recommendations; other resolutions, frame rates, and codecs have different guidance on its settings page. A mostly static devotional image does not remove the need for a stable connection or a suitable encoder configuration.
Test before you make the loop public
- Set the YouTube stream to private or unlisted if that fits your test, then start streaming from OBS.
- Check the Live Control Room preview for the expected image and listen from another device for correct volume and clean playback.
- Wait for the file to reach its end and confirm that it restarts as intended. Check that any playlist advances and loops correctly.
- Read YouTube’s stream-health messages and address warnings before relying on the stream.
- When you are ready for the public stream, confirm its visibility and schedule in Live Control Room. Keep the computer, OBS, and network running while the stream is live, and monitor for interruptions.
YouTube recommends testing before an event and monitoring stream health. A test with the same kind of audio and visual motion as the intended stream is more useful than checking only that OBS connects. YouTube’s stream-quality guidance.

Troubleshoot common loop problems
