To run gaming highlights on YouTube around the clock, prepare a rights-cleared video, enable live streaming on your channel, then send the video to YouTube through an encoder or a cloud streaming service. A local encoder such as OBS can do the job while your computer and connection stay available; a cloud service handles the continuous loop remotely. Label the broadcast as prerecorded, check it before leaving it unattended, and do not assume that running continuously guarantees monetization.
Before you start: check channel access and prepare the video
Enable live streaming early
YouTube Help says a channel must be verified, have no live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and meet the minimum age requirement of 16 to live stream. First-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do this before your planned launch rather than immediately before it. These requirements are stated in YouTube Help’s “Get started with live streaming – Computer” and “Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder” pages; their publication dates are not displayed in the material available here.
Make a clean, rights-cleared highlights file
Assemble the highlights into a video file and review the whole loop, including game footage, overlays, voice chat, and music. Having a copy of an exported video does not necessarily give you rights to every element inside it. A game’s streaming permissions may not cover the rights to music heard during play, and third-party clips or overlays can carry their own restrictions. Keep records of permissions or licenses, and remove material you cannot establish rights to use.
Keep a separate copy of the finished source file. A live broadcast should not be treated as your only archive: the available information does not establish a current, universal YouTube archive outcome for a continuous 24/7 stream.

Choose how to keep the loop running
YouTube supports encoder-based gameplay broadcasts. Its encoder directory lists OBS as open-source software available at no charge and also includes cloud tools for continuous prerecorded streams. YouTube describes an encoder this way: “An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube.” The practical choice is whether you want to maintain the playback process yourself or have a provider host it.

Set up the broadcast and start the loop
- Prepare the source. Export and review the finished highlights video. Check that it plays through cleanly and that its music, clips, overlays, and other included material are cleared for your use.
- Confirm channel eligibility. In YouTube’s live-streaming workflow, verify that live streaming is enabled for the channel before launch. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement.
- Create or select the live stream in YouTube Studio. Use YouTube Studio’s live control workflow to set up or choose the broadcast. Choose the intended title, category, and visibility, and describe the content accurately as a prerecorded gaming highlights loop.
- Copy the stream key privately. Enter the YouTube stream key and destination details in your encoder or cloud provider’s dashboard. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or include it in a screenshot. If it is exposed, replace it using YouTube’s stream controls and update the encoder or service with the new key.
- Configure playback in your chosen service. With a local encoder, select the prepared file and configure the encoder to send it to the YouTube destination. With a cloud service, upload the file and configure the stream key according to that provider’s current dashboard. A cloud provider’s upload and playback requirements can change, so confirm its current supported file formats and limits there.
- Preview and check stream health. Start with a preview or test where available. Confirm that the correct video is playing, the title and visibility are right, and YouTube reports a healthy incoming stream before you leave the broadcast unattended.
- Monitor and maintain the loop. Check the broadcast periodically and keep the original video backed up. A continuous stream can still stop because of a local computer or network problem, a provider issue, or a YouTube-side interruption.
Do not guess a universal bitrate or keyframe setting
There is no single bitrate or keyframe value established here as correct for every resolution, frame rate, encoder, and continuous-stream configuration. Use the current requirements shown by YouTube for the stream you configure and the settings supported by your encoder or service; do not copy a value from another setup without checking that it fits yours.
Present prerecorded highlights honestly
Make clear in the title or description that viewers are watching a prerecorded highlights loop. Do not suggest the gameplay is happening live or promise live interaction if nobody is providing it. Accurate presentation helps viewers understand what they have opened and avoids misleading claims about the broadcast.

Gameplay footage, soundtrack, overlays, and third-party clips may involve different rights. If a claim or match occurs, review what was identified and remove or replace material you cannot use. A continuous broadcast does not make otherwise restricted content permissible.

Do not treat watch time as a monetization promise
A 24/7 broadcast is not a guarantee of YouTube Partner Program approval or earnings. YouTube’s monetization requirements and review are separate from whether a stream remains available. Originality and reused-content review may affect a channel independently of its streaming setup.

- YouTube does not receive the broadcast: verify that the stream key and destination details in the encoder or provider match the stream selected in YouTube Studio. If the key was exposed, replace it and update the configured destination.
- The stream starts but the wrong video plays: check the selected source file and playlist in the encoder or provider dashboard, then preview again before leaving it unattended.
- A local loop stops: check that the host computer is still on, the network is connected, the encoder process is running, and the source file remains available.
- A cloud loop stops: check the provider’s dashboard and current service status, along with its upload, format, and account requirements. Do not assume recovery behavior or uninterrupted availability unless the provider currently states it.
- A copyright issue appears: identify the affected footage, music, or other asset; confirm that you have the necessary rights, or remove and replace the disputed material.
