You can run a continuous sound bath livestream by sending prerecorded sessions from an encoder to YouTube Live Control Room. Create the YouTube stream, give a compatible encoder its stream URL and key, configure playback to loop or schedule your recordings, then test the preview before making the stream public. The main planning issues are music rights, reliable playback and connection recovery, and YouTube’s archive limit: its guidance covers automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not a guaranteed single replay of an uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast.
Before you start: check channel eligibility and prepare your sessions
- Confirm livestream access. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had a livestreaming restriction in the preceding 90 days.
- Choose the recordings and playback plan. Your encoder must be able to play the prerecorded files and loop or schedule them as intended. YouTube’s setup guidance explains how to connect an encoder, but does not specify a particular encoder or guarantee that it can loop recordings.
- Check the rights for every sound. Make sure your permissions cover YouTube livestreaming and any replay you plan to keep. A recording being available to use elsewhere does not, by itself, establish that you have livestream rights.
- Decide how you will handle interruptions. Identify how you will notice a stopped feed and resume it, and whether you have a backup encoder or connection available. YouTube’s live-stream tips recommend testing and describe checking a backup encoder for event operations.
Set up the YouTube livestream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create a new livestream or schedule one. Set the title, description, visibility and other event details. YouTube lets operators manage the stream key and related settings there.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into your encoder. The encoder uses these to send its output to YouTube. The exact fields and labels vary by encoder, so follow that product’s instructions for entering an RTMP destination and key.
- Protect the key. Treat it like a password: do not show it in public screenshots or share it in an exposed configuration page. If you believe someone has obtained it, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder with the new key.
- Set the encoder’s source and playback behavior. Select the prerecorded sound bath files or playlist, then configure the encoder to repeat or schedule them. Confirm the sequence, transitions and audio before sending the feed. YouTube’s connection workflow does not configure the encoder’s playlist for you.
- Check the preview before going public. Start sending a test feed, wait for it to appear in Live Control Room, and verify picture and sound. YouTube recommends testing a livestream and checking that viewers can reach the event from channel and watch pages and mobile devices.
- Start the broadcast and monitor it. Confirm the event is live and periodically check that the feed is still reaching YouTube and the audio remains audible. If the encoder or connection stops sending, the stream will end unless the feed is restored.
Plan around YouTube’s 12-hour archive guidance
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived when they end. Its cited guidance does not establish that an uninterrupted 24-hour stream will be saved as one complete replay. If preserving replays matters, plan broadcasts as sessions under 12 hours and confirm current behavior in Live Control Room before relying on an archive workflow. A 24/7 channel schedule and a single 24-hour archived video are separate operational goals.
Clear music rights before the first broadcast
YouTube’s livestream terms say the creator represents that they have all necessary rights for the livestream, including music licensing rights. Confirm that each license permits YouTube livestream use and archived replays, as applicable.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. If it detects third-party material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, warn you, interrupt the broadcast or terminate it. YouTube also says that a licensed stream may still be interrupted unless the rights owner adds your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask the rights holder whether allowlisting is needed and arrange it before launch; a license alone should not be treated as proof that a live interruption cannot happen.

Keep originality and monetization expectations realistic
YouTube’s monetization policy applies to live content and says channel content should be original and authentic. Highly repetitive or mass-produced material with little creative, educational, narrative or other viewer value can be ineligible. Repeating the same sound bath recording around the clock does not guarantee monetization eligibility. Distinct sessions, original facilitation or useful context may add viewer value, but YouTube makes the eligibility decision.
Eligible channels may have access to ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships for livestreams. Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve, and revenue features depend on channel eligibility.

Choose a playback setup you can operate reliably
YouTube supports software encoding, and its tips note that hardware encoders may suit higher-production streams; it does not endorse a specific encoder. Before choosing a software or hardware approach, verify that it can play and loop or schedule your files, recover after source or connection interruptions, provide monitoring or backup options, and output settings supported by YouTube. Include the ongoing operating cost in the decision. Exact output settings and hardware compatibility depend on the encoder and setup; the YouTube guidance here does not establish a universal bitrate or equipment specification.
