How to Run a 24/7 Pomodoro Study Stream on YouTube From Recorded Sessions

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To run a recorded Pomodoro study stream around the clock, loop your session footage in an encoder such as OBS Studio, connect the encoder to a YouTube Live stream, and keep the computer, power, and internet connection running. In OBS, add the recording as a Media Source and enable Loop; for several recordings, use a VLC Video playlist source. Test playback, audio, and stream health before relying on it. If you do not want a computer running at home, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos from the cloud to YouTube.

What you need before going live

  • A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. YouTube says the channel must be verified and have had no livestreaming restrictions in the prior 90 days; a new channel may need to enable livestreaming in advance. See YouTube’s getting-started guidance.
  • A recording or playlist of recordings, with rights to stream every video and audio element, including music, graphics, and interstitials.
  • An encoder such as OBS Studio, a computer that can play the files, and a stable internet connection with enough upload capacity.
  • A YouTube Live Control Room stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.

A recording’s existing availability online does not by itself give you permission to rebroadcast it. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may replace, interrupt, or terminate a stream if material remains in the broadcast. Even licensed music may require the rights holder to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Review YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and clear rights before broadcasting.

How to set up the recorded loop in OBS

Loop one Pomodoro recording

  1. Open OBS and select or create the scene you want to use for the study stream.
  2. In the Sources panel, select + and add a Media Source. Give it a descriptive name.
  3. Choose the recorded video file. Enable Loop in the Media Source properties so playback starts again when it reaches the end.
  4. Check the preview, picture framing, and audio level. Play the file through a full ending and restart to confirm the loop behaves as expected and audio remains in sync.

OBS’s Media Source supports common video and audio formats, but a file’s container, codec, and playback behavior can vary. Test the actual recordings you plan to use rather than assuming every file will play cleanly.

Rotate several sessions with a playlist

  1. Add a VLC Video source in OBS and choose the recorded sessions you want in its playlist.
  2. Check Loop Playlist. If you want a predictable sequence, leave shuffle off; enable shuffle only if you want a randomized order.
  3. Preview each item and the transition between files. Confirm the playlist returns to the beginning and that no unexpected blank interval or audio mismatch appears.

OBS documents the Media Source and VLC Video source controls in its media sources guide. A single file is simpler to inspect; a playlist gives viewers more variety, but every item still needs rights clearance and a playback test.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Create the YouTube stream and connect OBS

  1. In YouTube Studio, open Create and select Go live to enter the Live Control Room. Create a new stream or schedule one, then set its title, description, visibility, and audience details.
  2. In the stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key. Keep them private; if you believe a key has been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder.
  3. In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Choose YouTube as the service and enter the stream key, or use the stream URL and key in the fields provided by the selected connection method.
  4. Set your output and video settings (the bitrate guidance below is a starting point), then apply the changes. Return to the main OBS window.
  5. Start the stream from OBS and wait for the YouTube Live Control Room preview and stream health status. For a scheduled stream, use the Live Control Room’s appropriate action to make the scheduled broadcast public when you intend to begin.

YouTube explains that the key tells the encoder where to send the feed so YouTube can accept it; the key is a credential, not a public channel identifier. See YouTube’s stream-settings guidance.

Choose bitrate, resolution, and latency for your connection

Use a resolution and frame rate your computer can encode reliably and your upload connection can sustain. YouTube’s current encoder recommendations, checked in 2026, include these H.264 and AV1/H.265 examples:

Output Codec Minimum bitrate Recommended bitrate
1080p at 30 fps H.264 5 Mbps 10 Mbps
720p at 30 fps H.264 3 Mbps 6 Mbps
1080p at 30 fps AV1/H.265 4 Mbps 10 Mbps
720p at 30 fps AV1/H.265 2 Mbps 6 Mbps

These are YouTube recommendations, not guarantees that a particular computer or connection will perform well. Leave about 20% upload headroom above the stream’s bitrate, as YouTube recommends, and account for a backup feed’s bitrate too if you use one. A connection that barely meets the target can become unstable when other devices or services use bandwidth. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and streaming tips.

  • For RTMP or RTMPS, YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a 2-second keyframe interval; do not exceed 4 seconds.
  • Use RTMPS when available to encrypt the feed between the encoder and YouTube.
  • For a prerecorded study room with no need for fast audience interaction, ordinary latency is usually more suitable than choosing a low-latency mode. YouTube notes that lower latency can increase buffering; low latency matters more when the creator is interacting with viewers in real time.

Resolution chiefly affects how clearly small details appear; for a study stream, readable clocks, timers, and on-screen text may matter more than high frame rates. Test the actual scene at the chosen settings and monitor YouTube’s preview and health indicators.

Test it before leaving the stream unattended

  1. Run a private or unlisted test with motion and audio like the real broadcast. Check the YouTube preview rather than relying only on the OBS canvas.
  2. Let a video reach its end and verify it starts again. If you use a playlist, test the full sequence and confirm fixed or shuffled order is what you intended.
  3. Listen for clipping, silence, and sync drift; watch for dropped frames and stream-health warnings in OBS and Live Control Room.
  4. Test your recovery plan. YouTube advises testing backup encoder failover where applicable; also determine how you will restart OBS and reconnect the stream after a computer, power, or network interruption.

YouTube warns, “A disruption on your connectivity could mean a broken stream.” A local loop depends on the encoder process, computer, power, and internet remaining available. A UPS can help keep a streaming PC powered through some power interruptions, but it does not provide internet service or guarantee uninterrupted broadcasting.

Plan for a 24/7 broadcast’s archive and rewind limits

Do not assume an unbroken 24-hour broadcast will produce one complete replay or let viewers rewind through the entire day. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its guidance also warns that DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable on very long streams, including streams over 12 hours. If complete replay access matters, consider ending and restarting the broadcast in shorter segments and test the resulting archive and viewer rewind behavior before depending on it. See YouTube’s encoder instructions and YouTube’s DVR guidance.

Troubleshoot common problems

Symptom Likely cause What to check
The stream does not appear in the Live Control Room OBS has not connected, or the stream URL/key is incorrect. Confirm the selected service and stream key in OBS, check that the key has not been reset, and wait for the encoder connection and preview.
The stream drops or becomes unstable Upload capacity is insufficient or the connection is disrupted. Check stream bitrate against available upload capacity, leave the recommended headroom, reduce the output bitrate if needed, and check other network use. YouTube notes that disruption can break the stream.
The recording stops at the end Loop is disabled or the source is configured incorrectly. Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop, or check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source; then test a complete pass.
A playlist plays in the wrong order Shuffle is enabled or the playlist order differs from what you expected. Review the VLC Video source playlist and shuffle control, then preview the sequence.
Audio is silent, clipped, or out of sync Source audio settings, file playback, or encoding may not match the actual recording. Preview the file in OBS, check source and output audio levels, and run a test long enough to catch sync drift.
YouTube interrupts or replaces the stream A third-party-content match may have been detected. Review the content and rights for every element in the loop; resolve any claim with the relevant rights holder. Licensed content may still require Content ID allowlisting.

  • Automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream.
