Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo run a 24/7 crackling fireplace and winter-wind stream on YouTube, prepare a rights-cleared video and audio loop, send it through a live encoder to a verified YouTube channel, test the picture and sound, then monitor stream health. YouTube supports continuous broadcasts, but uninterrupted uptime is not guaranteed: plan for connection or service interruptions, and treat copyright clearance and monetization eligibility as separate requirements.
1. Clear the footage and sound for continuous streaming
Use fireplace footage and winter-wind audio that you recorded yourself or have documented permission to use in a public, continuous livestream. Confirm that the permission also covers any recording or archive of the stream. Keep licenses, invoices, and written permissions where you can retrieve them if a claim arises.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can interrupt or terminate a stream. A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption if the rights owner uses Content ID and has not allowlisted your channel; ask the licensor about allowlisting before launch. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Do not assume that a video or sound is safe to use just because it is available online, labeled “royalty-free,” or credited in the description. Check the actual license terms for livestreaming, public use, looping, and archiving.

2. Check that your channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, and the person streaming must be at least 16. YouTube also lists limits of up to 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key. Review the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and restrictions help before scheduling the broadcast.
3. Create the YouTube broadcast and connect an encoder
Create the broadcast
- Open YouTube Studio and use the live-streaming workflow to create or schedule a broadcast. Set its title, description, visibility, and start time. Choose visibility with the intended audience and rights in mind.
- In the stream settings, obtain the stream key and server details. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, show it in a recording, or send it to anyone who does not need access.
Configure an encoder
An encoder sends the video and audio to YouTube. OBS is one software option, but YouTube does not require a particular encoder or hardware arrangement. In OBS, add the prepared fireplace video as a media source and enable looping; add the winter-wind audio as a source if it is a separate file. Configure the stream service using YouTube’s server and stream-key details, then start the encoder when you are ready to test.

YouTube’s Live Streaming API distinguishes the broadcast (the YouTube event and Watch Page) from the stream (the incoming audio and video). That separation can help when configuring an encoder or automating a continuous broadcast. Google documents the concepts and a continuous-broadcast example in its Live Streaming API guide.
4. Match delivery settings to your upload connection
Choose a resolution and frame rate your upload connection can sustain reliably. A static fireplace scene may not need the highest available quality; a stable stream is more useful than a sharper picture that repeatedly drops frames or disconnects. YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP, for encoder delivery.

Use YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance for the exact settings that fit your chosen resolution and frame rate. Do not copy a bitrate intended for a different output format or connection. YouTube lists supported codecs and recommended encoder settings there; test the actual upload path rather than assuming a quoted speed from your internet plan is available continuously.
5. Test the loop before making it public
- Run the encoder with the same video, audio, resolution, and frame rate you intend to use for the full broadcast.
- Listen for abrupt cuts, excessive wind masking the fire, clipping, silence, or a volume change at the loop point. Watch the video through a full loop to catch black frames, visible edits, or unintended gaps.
- Check YouTube Studio’s stream health indicators while the test is running. If the connection is unstable, reduce the output quality or address the upload connection before launching the long stream.
- Confirm the Watch Page displays the intended stream and that the audio is audible on a separate device or browser session before sharing it.
YouTube advises testing representative motion and audio and monitoring stream health. Its encoder guidance covers delivery settings and its live-stream health help explains monitoring.

6. Go live and prepare for interruptions
Once the test is clean, start the encoder and confirm that YouTube receives the feed; then start or publish the broadcast in YouTube Studio as required by the selected workflow. Keep an eye on stream health after launch, especially when first switching from a test to a long-running broadcast.
No universal YouTube setting guarantees a stream will run without interruption or automatically restart in every setup. A practical recovery plan is to keep the encoder and source files available, check the stream after an alert or disconnect, and be ready to reconnect or restart the broadcast. YouTube’s continuous-broadcast workflow is not a promise of uninterrupted service.

7. Understand monetization limits for ambient loops
Live streams are subject to YouTube’s channel monetization policies. YouTube expects original, authentic work; repetitive or mass-produced content can be ineligible for monetization. A minimally varied loop or a channel filled with near-identical ambience streams may raise inauthentic-content concerns, so do not assume that a 24/7 fireplace stream will be approved.
Watch Page ads and YouTube Premium revenue require YouTube Partner Program participation and acceptance of the applicable Watch Page Monetization Module. Eligibility for monetization is distinct from having permission to use the footage and audio. Check YouTube channel monetization policies and the Watch Page Monetization Module requirements.
Common problems and fixes
- YouTube reports a copyright match or interrupts the stream: Check the matched asset and the relevant license. Contact the rights owner about channel allowlisting if they use Content ID; stop using material you cannot document rights to use.
- Stream health shows a weak or unstable connection: Test the actual upload during the intended stream conditions, lower resolution or frame rate if needed, and avoid relying on a connection that cannot sustain the selected encoder output.
- The audio clicks, cuts out, or changes level at the loop point: Inspect the source edit and playback loop; retest the same audio file in the encoder before returning to the public broadcast.
- The stream looks fine locally but not on YouTube: Verify the encoder’s server and stream key, confirm the broadcast is receiving the feed in YouTube Studio, and check the Watch Page from a separate device.
- The stream stops and does not return: Check whether the encoder is still running and whether YouTube is receiving a signal. Reconnect or restart the broadcast as appropriate; do not assume a universal automatic-restart behavior.
