One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo recover a church’s OBS-based YouTube stream after a power cut, the streaming PC must power back on, OBS must launch and reconnect, the network must be ready, and YouTube must accept the returning encoder feed. Set up and test each part separately: none of them alone guarantees that viewers will see the broadcast resume.
What has to recover after a power cut
A working stream depends on several links in a chain. The computer and any necessary network equipment need power; Windows and OBS need to start; OBS needs to reach the internet and send the encoder feed; YouTube must associate that feed with the intended broadcast; and the camera, capture and audio sources must be functioning.
- Power: Identify the streaming PC or encoder, modem, router, cameras, capture devices and essential audio equipment. A UPS may keep connected equipment running during some outages, depending on its load and runtime, but it cannot restore an internet service failure or fix software and broadcast settings.
- Computer startup: The PC must be configured to start after power returns. The available sources do not establish universal BIOS or UEFI instructions; check the computer maker’s guidance and verify the behavior on the church’s exact hardware.
- OBS and network: OBS must launch and connect after the router and internet are ready. If the PC starts first, an initial connection attempt may fail.
- YouTube and production sources: The encoder feed, broadcast state, camera picture and audio each need verification. A stream that reconnects at one layer can still be unusable at another.
Configure Windows and OBS to start again
Make the PC start when power returns
Check the computer’s firmware settings for a power-restoration or similar option, if available. The exact label and location vary by manufacturer and model, and no universal setting is established here. Test whether the PC actually starts when power is restored before relying on it for a service.
Launch OBS and request streaming
An OBS forum discussion posted March 21, 2024, describes adding the --startstreaming argument to an OBS shortcut and placing it in the Windows Startup folder or using Task Scheduler. The responder favors Task Scheduler for outage recovery and warns that OBS may start before network equipment is ready. This is community advice, not a version-independent guarantee. Verify the argument and behavior with the installed versions of OBS and Windows before using it for a broadcast: OBS Forums: Autostart after e.g. Reboot.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Do not assume that launching OBS means it will successfully reconnect. If the network takes longer to return than the PC, use a suitable delay or retry approach and test it with the church’s actual router and internet service. The forum discussion does not establish a universally reliable script or delay value.
Configure the YouTube encoder and broadcast
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a server URL and stream key to connect an encoder to YouTube. Starting OBS sends the feed, but sending a feed and making the broadcast live are related steps—not necessarily the same operator action. Review YouTube’s current instructions for creating a live stream with an encoder and its live stream settings.

- Confirm the destination and key. Make sure OBS is configured for the intended YouTube stream and broadcast. Treat the stream key like a password: do not share it or expose it in screenshots.
- Check auto-start and auto-stop. YouTube provides these settings for encoder streams. Confirm the current stream’s configuration and whether it matches the church’s intended workflow.
- Check scheduled-stream steps. A scheduled broadcast may still require someone to click Go live in Live Control Room after the encoder preview appears. Do not assume OBS can override every broadcast state.
- Verify the result in Live Control Room. Look for the returning encoder feed and confirm that the intended broadcast is live. Do not treat OBS’s own streaming status as proof that the public YouTube stream has recovered.
Verify cameras, audio and the public stream
After a restart, inspect the OBS program preview and check each production input independently. Camera or capture sources may fail to return even when OBS reconnects to YouTube; audio routing can also be affected by a power loss. OBS forum reports describe both reconnect problems and camera recovery issues, but user reports do not establish how often they occur or guarantee behavior across versions.
- Confirm the expected camera picture in the program output.
- Check that microphones and other required audio sources are present and audible.
- Confirm in Live Control Room that YouTube is receiving the encoder feed and the intended broadcast is live.
- Check the public watch page from a separate device or browser to verify what viewers can see.
Test the whole recovery chain before a service
Run a supervised test outside a service, with someone available to intervene. A successful OBS launch is not enough: test the broadcast and production sources too.

- Record the equipment that must recover: PC, modem, router, cameras, capture hardware and essential audio equipment.
- Test the PC’s power-restoration behavior and observe whether Windows and OBS start as intended.
- Allow the network equipment to restart. Confirm whether OBS connects if internet access is initially unavailable, and adjust the approach if needed.
- Check the feed and broadcast state in Live Control Room, then verify the public stream, picture and sound.
- If delayed network recovery is a realistic risk, test that condition under supervision as well. Do not claim the process is automatic until the church has tested it with its own equipment and settings.
Troubleshoot the point where recovery stops
| Symptom | What to check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| The PC remains off after power returns | Whether the computer supports and is configured for automatic power-on after power restoration. | Consult the computer maker’s instructions for that model and test the setting. The available sources do not establish one universal BIOS or UEFI path. |
| Windows starts, but OBS does not | The startup method, shortcut or Task Scheduler configuration, and whether the OBS launch argument works with the installed version. | Review the setup and test it after a controlled restart; the OBS forum discussion is community guidance, not a guarantee. |
| OBS opens but does not connect | Whether the router and internet service are ready, and whether OBS attempted to connect too early. | Test a delay or retry approach with the actual network. No fixed delay is established for all sites. |
| OBS says it is streaming, but viewers cannot see the broadcast | The encoder feed, selected broadcast, YouTube auto-start setting and Live Control Room state. | Check YouTube’s broadcast state and verify the public watch page; an OBS status alone does not confirm public recovery. |
| The stream returns with missing picture or sound | Camera, capture, microphone and audio-routing status in the OBS preview and program output. | Restore the affected source independently; restarting the stream does not prove each production input recovered. |
| Short outages interrupt the setup | Which devices lose power and the runtime required for the actual connected load. | Consider a UPS sized for the equipment and runtime needed. No specific model or capacity is established here, and a UPS does not solve network, OBS, YouTube or camera failures. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep uploaded video playing on a YouTube channel without relying on a church PC at home, StreamNeo runs the loop from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay powered at home. Each slot streams uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos streamed to YouTube, not camera-based live production. Start the free day.
