On most Samsung Smart TVs, reinstall Netflix from Home → Apps → Settings (the gear) → Netflix → Delete, then find Netflix in Apps and choose Install. If Delete is unavailable or grayed out, choose Reinstall instead. Menu labels vary by model, region and software version.
Before you begin
- Make sure the TV is connected to the internet. Netflix needs a connection to download and use the app.
- Have your Netflix email address and password ready. Removing the app may delete local app data and sign you out.
- If Netflix is open, exit to the TV Home screen before trying to remove or reinstall it.
- Reinstalling the app does not cancel a Netflix membership. If you have forgotten your password, recover it through Netflix rather than creating a new account.
On some current Samsung models, a Samsung account may also be required to access Smart Hub or install apps. Samsung’s app-installation guidance notes that app availability depends on the TV model.
How to reinstall Netflix on a Samsung TV
- Press Home on the remote.
- Open Apps. If Netflix is on the Home screen, still use the Apps area for the app-management controls.
- Select the Settings gear in the Apps screen.
- Highlight Netflix and choose Delete, then confirm.
- Return to Apps and select Search.
- Search for Netflix, choose the official Netflix app, and select Install.
- When installation finishes, open Netflix, select Sign In, and enter your account details.
Samsung documents this general app troubleshooting flow in its guide to apps that do not work on a Samsung TV or projector. Depending on your remote and interface, you may also be able to highlight Netflix on Home and hold the Select or center button for about three seconds to choose Remove.
If Delete is grayed out
Some Samsung TVs treat Netflix as a recommended or preinstalled app that cannot be deleted. In the Apps settings, highlight Netflix and select Reinstall if that command is available. It refreshes the app without requiring the delete-and-download sequence.

How to tell whether the reinstall worked
Netflix should appear in the Apps list again. Open it and check that it reaches the sign-in screen, then sign in and try browsing or playing a title. If it still freezes, shows a black screen, or closes, use the troubleshooting steps below; reinstalling cannot fix every network, firmware, account, or compatibility problem.
If Netflix is missing from Apps or search
- Check the connection: Confirm the TV is online, then search Apps again.
- Update the TV: Open Settings and look under Support for the software update option. Exact labels differ by model.
- Check Samsung account access: Sign in if your model requires an account for Smart Hub or app downloads.
- Check compatibility and region: If Netflix does not appear in the app store, Samsung says the app may not be compatible with that TV model. Netflix availability can also depend on device age and region. Look up the exact model number and the country where the TV is being used before concluding that the app is permanently unavailable. - Consider the TV’s age: Older Samsung sets may use legacy Internet@TV or Smart Hub menus, and Netflix support may no longer be available for a particular model. Do not assume that a newer menu path or app catalog applies to an older TV.
If reinstalling does not fix Netflix
Try these steps in order, moving to the more disruptive options only if the earlier ones do not help.

1. Cold boot the TV
Turn the TV off and unplug it. Press its physical power button once and wait about one minute, or leave the TV unplugged for approximately three minutes. Plug it back in, turn it on, and try Netflix.
2. Update the TV software
In Settings, open the software update option, usually under Support, and install an available update. Menu names vary by model. Try Netflix again after the TV restarts.

3. Sign out of Netflix and sign back in
If Netflix opens but has an account or profile problem, signing out may be enough; there is no need to reinstall just to switch accounts. In Netflix, open the side or profile menu and look for Get Help → Sign out, then confirm and sign in again. Some versions use labels such as Reset, Start Over, or Deactivate. Netflix lists separate steps for app crashes and other device issues in its crash guidance and freezing and loading troubleshooting.
4. Check whether the problem is the network
Try another streaming app on the TV. If it also fails, restart the router and check the TV’s network connection; the issue is likely broader than Netflix. If other apps work but Netflix cannot connect, network or DNS problems can still affect Netflix specifically. Reinstalling an app will not repair an internet outage.

5. Reset Smart Hub only if app-level fixes fail
Consider a Smart Hub reset if Netflix cannot be reinstalled, several apps are failing, or the Apps area itself is broken. Gather your Samsung-account and streaming-service passwords first. A reset returns Smart Hub settings to factory defaults and removes related app information, account details, linked-service information, and agreements, so you may need to set up apps again. Samsung documents different paths by TV year:
- 2018 and earlier: Settings → Support → Self Diagnosis → Reset Smart Hub.
- 2019 and later: Settings → Support → Device Care → Self Diagnosis → Reset Smart Hub.
These labels can still vary by model. The common Samsung TV PIN is 0000 unless the owner changed it.

6. Contact Samsung if the TV’s app system is failing
Contact Samsung TV support if Netflix cannot be installed, the TV cannot update, Smart Hub will not open or reset, or multiple apps malfunction. If the model is no longer compatible with Netflix, an external streaming device can be a fallback, provided the TV’s HDMI ports and network connection work. That bypasses Smart Hub; it will not solve a problem with the TV’s internet connection or display hardware.
