Pluto TV is listed as a free Windows desktop app, but current Pluto device information names Windows 11 rather than confirming Windows 10 support. On a Windows 10 PC, search for the official app in Microsoft Store and check the compatibility notice for your device. If Store does not offer it, stream at Pluto TV’s official website in a supported browser. Use Microsoft Store or Pluto’s site—not third-party EXE download pages.
Is Pluto TV free on Windows?
Yes. Microsoft currently lists Pluto TV as a free PC entertainment app, and Pluto describes its service as free live and on-demand streaming. The service is ad-supported, so free access does not mean ad-free viewing. Pluto’s platform page promotes 100+ live channels and thousands of on-demand titles; these are promotional figures, and the selection can change by region and over time.
Here, “download” means installing the app, not saving films or episodes to your hard drive. Pluto’s official platform information describes streaming, not a Windows offline-download library. Content availability also depends on country and licensing.
How to install Pluto TV from Microsoft Store
- Open Microsoft Store from the Windows Start menu.
- Search for Pluto TV and select the official app. Microsoft’s PC entertainment listings currently show it as free.
- Check the listing’s system requirements or compatibility notice. If Store says the app is unavailable or incompatible with your PC, do not try to bypass that warning with an unofficial installer.
- Select Get or the install button. Microsoft may ask you to sign in to complete installation; its Store installation guidance applies to Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- When installation finishes, open Pluto TV from the Start menu.
A Microsoft account prompt is for the Store installation. It is separate from a Pluto TV account or sign-in flow; whether Pluto offers guest viewing or account-linked features can depend on the current app or website experience.

Does the Pluto TV app work on Windows 10?
Windows 10 compatibility is not guaranteed by the available current platform information. Older official material listed a Pluto desktop app for Windows 10, but Pluto’s device article, updated March 7, 2026, identifies the desktop app with Windows 11. You can compare the older Windows 10 reference with Pluto’s current device-compatibility article.
The practical test is the Microsoft Store listing on your own PC. If it offers installation and reports compatibility, you can try it; if it does not, use browser streaming. Microsoft’s general Store guidance covers both Windows versions, but that does not establish that every Store app supports Windows 10.

Watch Pluto TV in a browser instead
- Open Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or another modern browser.
- Go to Pluto TV’s official platform page and choose its browser viewing option, or go to the Pluto TV website and select a channel or on-demand title.
- If playback fails, reload the page. If needed, try a private window, temporarily disable extensions that may interfere with video or advertising scripts, or switch to another supported browser.
Browser viewing is the straightforward fallback when Store reports that the app is incompatible, installation is restricted by a school or workplace, or you would rather not install another program. Pluto’s platform page promotes streaming through both its desktop app and the web.

Fix common installation and playback problems
Microsoft Store cannot find the app
Search for the exact name Pluto TV and confirm you are looking at PC apps. Availability can differ by region, device, or Windows edition, and Store listings can change. If the official listing is not offered, open Pluto TV’s official platform page and use the browser option.

Store says Pluto TV is incompatible
Treat the message as a real compatibility limit unless the Store itself later changes its result. Pluto’s current device information identifies Windows 11 for the desktop app, so a Windows 10 incompatibility may not be a Store glitch. Do not download an EXE from an aggregator, APK site, torrent, or unofficial mirror; use the official browser stream instead.
The app installs but video will not play
- Close and reopen Pluto TV.
- Check whether other websites can stream video.
- If the issue appears network-related, restart the PC and router.
- Temporarily disable browser extensions or security software that may block playback, then test again.
- Try Pluto TV in Edge or Chrome to see whether browser playback works.
- If the app still fails, uninstall it and reinstall it from Microsoft Store.
If browser playback also fails, the cause could be regional availability, a sign-in issue, or a temporary service problem; the available information does not establish a universal error-code fix.

Video buffers or quality drops
Unstable or congested internet, Wi-Fi interference, other devices using bandwidth, browser or app resource limits, and temporary delivery problems can all affect streaming. Test the browser version and reduce competing network activity before reinstalling the app.

Pluto TV is a fit for viewers who want free, ad-supported live and on-demand programming. It is not the right choice if you require ad-free viewing or verified offline downloads. For Windows 10 users, browser streaming remains the dependable route when the Store does not confirm app compatibility.
