What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Recover the stream by checking the VPS first, then the encoder process, its outbound connection, and YouTube’s ingest status—in that order. A power cut does not guarantee the same broadcast or watch page will resume: confirm what YouTube is receiving in Live Control Room before assuming the stream is back.
1. Check whether the VPS is online
- Try SSH. If you can connect, continue to the encoder checks below. If SSH fails, that alone does not prove the server is powered off; a network issue or failed SSH service can also prevent access.
- Open your VPS provider’s dashboard. Check the instance’s power state and any regional status notices. If the provider offers a browser or recovery console, use it to inspect the server when network access or SSH is unavailable. Console labels and recovery options vary by provider.
- Use the provider’s recovery instructions if the VPS will not boot. DigitalOcean, for example, documents a Recovery Console for cases such as lost VM network connectivity or a failed
sshdservice, and separately documents booting to a Recovery ISO for recovery work, including filesystem checks with tools such asfsck. These are DigitalOcean-specific procedures, not steps to assume are available on an unspecified Indian VPS. Follow your own host’s documentation or support guidance.
If SSH and the provider console are both unavailable, check the provider’s service status and contact its support team before changing YouTube settings. The failure may be at the host or network layer rather than in the stream itself.
2. Check and restart the encoder
Once you have access, identify how this particular server launches the encoder: it may be a service, a script, or a command started another way. Check its current state and recent system logs to determine whether it stopped, failed during startup, or is still running. Restart only the matching service or command if it is stopped.
There is no universal service name or restart command for every VPS installation, so do not copy a guessed systemctl command. Use the service name and recovery steps configured by whoever set up the server. Keep stream keys and other credentials out of shared logs and screenshots.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
3. Verify network access and encoder settings
- Confirm the VPS has working outbound internet access.
- Check that the encoder software is running and that its YouTube Live server URL and stream key match the channel’s current settings.
- Open YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and Live Control Room if you need to retrieve the configured stream URL and key. YouTube’s guidance for third-party encoders is to enter the channel’s YouTube Live server URL and stream key into the encoder.
Do not repeatedly replace the stream key while diagnosing a host outage. The failure can be at the VPS, network, encoder, or YouTube ingest layer; changing credentials will not repair a stopped VM or broken outbound connection.
4. Confirm YouTube is receiving the stream
In YouTube Live Control Room, inspect the stream preview and health indicator. YouTube displays stream errors with timestamps, which can help match an ingest problem to the time the encoder stopped or restarted. Also check the public watch page; a running encoder process by itself does not prove viewers are receiving a healthy stream.

If YouTube reports a configuration or encoding problem, its guidance for the documented issue is to use H.264 video and AAC audio. Follow the exact error shown for your stream rather than changing unrelated settings.
5. Check RTMPS only if your setup uses it
If you are reconnecting with RTMPS, use the URL displayed in your channel’s Live Control Room; do not substitute an ingest address found elsewhere or guess one. YouTube says the URL protocol must be rtmps. Where relevant, check that the encoder supports RTMPS and can reach port 443. See YouTube’s RTMPS guidance.

6. Understand what happens to the broadcast and archive
YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after encoder output stops. That statement does not guarantee how a 24/7 stream behaves after a VPS outage, whether it resumes the same broadcast, or whether the same watch page remains active. Check Live Control Room and the channel’s public page after recovery to establish the current state; start or configure a new broadcast if YouTube indicates the previous one has ended.

7. Reduce the need for manual recovery
For a Linux installation managed with systemd, an operator can configure the encoder service to start at boot and restart after a failure. The exact service directives and retry behavior must match the installed encoder and Linux distribution. Validate the configuration during a planned maintenance window, and make sure you know how to inspect its logs and status afterward. Automatic process restart cannot bring back a VPS that is still powered off or repair a failed filesystem.
For provider selection or a future rebuild, compare whether the provider offers an India region, dashboard power controls, browser or serial console access, documented boot and filesystem recovery, a visible status page, and a usable support route. Those capabilities vary by provider; the title does not identify a particular Indian VPS company.

Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not maintain an encoder on a VPS, StreamNeo keeps uploaded videos looping as a YouTube live stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams your upload at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. It plays uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera, and streams to YouTube only. Start your free StreamNeo day.
