You cannot guarantee that YouTube Live will never interrupt a loop simply because you made or own the videos. YouTube scans every live stream for matches to third-party content. The best prevention is to clear the rights to every element in the loop, request Content ID allowlisting from rights owners when needed, monitor the live stream, and check any archived stream for claims afterward.
How do I stop YouTube Live from interrupting my stream when I loop my own videos?
There is no creator-side setting that disables YouTube’s live copyright scanning or guarantees uninterrupted streaming. YouTube Help says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If YouTube detects a match, it may show a placeholder and warn you. Address the identified material promptly: if it remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. See YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance.
Before starting a loop, work through these checks:
- Audit every component. Check music, footage, photographs, graphics, and other material embedded in each video—not just who created or owns the final video file. Having made the overall video does not establish that every element is cleared for a live rebroadcast.
- Confirm the permission covers this use. If you use third-party material, check that the agreement permits livestreaming or rebroadcasting, covers the territories where you plan to stream, and allows archiving if you keep a recording. If the agreement is unclear, ask the rights owner.
- Request Content ID allowlisting where necessary. Ask the rights owner to add your YouTube channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube warns that a license by itself may not stop a live interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted.
- Keep proof of your rights accessible. Retain permission records, license terms, and original project files. These can help you assess or respond to an archive claim, but they do not guarantee that an automated live match will be suppressed.
- Monitor the live event. Watch for YouTube warnings and act on the identified content promptly. A permitted work can still be matched, so do not assume the stream is safe just because it started normally.
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance also describes a rights-owner feature called live Content ID matching. It is not a creator-side protection switch: it is intended for eligible rights owners to find copies of their content in other live streams, subject to YouTube’s requirements.
Can I still get a copyright claim if the video is mine?
Yes. You may own the finished video while it contains a song, clip, photograph, or other work owned by someone else. A Content ID match can concern that embedded material rather than the video as a whole. YouTube also does not promise that a stream described as your own will never be mistakenly matched.

Live interruption and an archived-video claim are separate events. During the live broadcast, YouTube may warn you, replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it if matched third-party material remains. After a stream ends, a Content ID claim may be placed on the archive if you choose to archive the stream. Review the live event while it is running, then review the archive separately.
How to check an archived loop for claims in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Content.
- Filter the content list for Claims.
- Check the Restrictions column, then open the claim details to see the claimant and the matched segment.
- Review the details for the relevant territory or territories. Claimants and effects can differ by segment or region.
YouTube’s Content ID claim guidance explains that claims may block, monetize, or track a video, and that their policies can vary by territory.

What to do when a claim appears
First identify whether Studio shows a Content ID claim or a copyright takedown. A Content ID claim usually affects the video; it is distinct from a removal request and a copyright strike. Choose a response based on whether the match is valid and whether you can establish your rights.
| Situation | Possible response | Important consideration |
|---|---|---|
| The match is valid, or you cannot establish your rights | Leave the claim in place, or remove the matched material by muting or trimming the segment, or replace the audio with a track from the YouTube Audio Library. | Check the claim’s stated effect and territory before changing or leaving the video. |
| You have the necessary rights, a relevant copyright exception applies, or the match is credibly mistaken | Consider disputing the claim and provide the relevant basis and evidence. | Dispute only when you have a valid reason; the claimant receives the dispute and has 30 days to respond. |
Giving credit, owning a copy of the material, or choosing not to monetize does not by itself establish a valid reason to dispute. YouTube says it does not decide ownership. If a dispute is rejected and the claimant submits a valid copyright removal request, the video may be removed and the channel may receive a strike. Read YouTube’s dispute guidance and claim guidance before responding. For a consequential or genuinely contested rights issue, consider advice from a qualified copyright lawyer; YouTube’s process does not determine the scope of your private license or resolve jurisdiction-specific legal questions.
