If it repeats before the queue ends, remove the duplicate entry. For a single episode file, use Media Source and turn off its Loop option.
First identify what is repeating
OBS has two relevant built-in sources. VLC Video Source handles a playlist of media files; Media Source handles an individual file. The right setting depends on whether the episode repeats within the queue, after the queue ends, or when a scene becomes visible again.

Stop a multi-episode playlist from repeating
- In the OBS Sources list, select the source playing the podcast. Open its properties and confirm that it is VLC Video Source.
- Inspect the playlist entries. Remove any episode listed more than once, and check whether different filenames or paths refer to the same audio.
- Turn off Loop Playlist if playback should stop after the final item. OBS documents this option as restarting the source after it runs out of media files; its documented default is On.
- Turn off Shuffle Playlist if the episodes should play in the order shown. Its documented default is Off.
- Play through the relevant queue, or make a short copy containing the suspected duplicate or final item, and observe whether the repeat occurs within a pass or only after the last item. This helps distinguish a duplicate entry from an end-of-playlist loop.
The OBS guide documents playlist entries and loop and shuffle controls, but it does not describe automatic duplicate detection. Remove redundant entries yourself.
Stop a single episode file from repeating
If the source contains only one episode, select its Media Source in the Sources list, open its properties, and turn off Loop. The VLC Video Source playlist setting is not the control for a single Media Source file.

Check scene visibility behavior
If playback restarts when you return to a scene, inspect the VLC Video Source options for what happens while the source is not visible. OBS documents choices that can stop and restart, pause and resume, or always play while hidden. Those choices affect scene visibility behavior; they do not remove duplicate playlist entries or change the purpose of Loop Playlist.
Make sure VLC Video Source is available
VLC must be installed for VLC Video Source to appear in OBS. OBS specifically says to install 64-bit VLC when using 64-bit OBS. If you want a playlist, use VLC Video Source; for an individual file, Media Source has its own Loop setting. The exact interface may vary by OBS release and operating system. These settings are documented in the OBS VLC Video Source guide, dated January 11, 2022.

Should you use a playlist plugin?
The OBS forum listing for Media Playlist Source describes a plugin alternative to VLC Video Source with playlist editing and shuffle features, and lists OBS 30.0.0 as its minimum version. Its project page describes it as based on Media Source and notes options for choosing the first or current file on restart. The cited materials do not establish that it tracks play history or automatically excludes episodes already played. Check its current compatibility, maintenance, and download information before installing it; do not assume a plugin will prevent repeats unless it explicitly supports the behavior you need.
