Spotify’s “Eat this playlist” is a Snake-style mini-game that turns tracks from a playlist into collectible tiles. If the option is available to you, open a playlist in the Spotify mobile app, tap its three-dot menu, and choose Eat this playlist. Then swipe up, down, left, or right to steer.
Access is inconsistent: Spotify described the feature as an iOS test in selected markets, and later reports do not establish a universal release. An updated app may help, but there is no confirmed setting that forces the option to appear. Spotify Community discussion
What is Spotify’s “Eat this playlist” game?
It is a hidden or limited mini-game inside Spotify, not a separate game download. Its basic rules resemble classic Snake: guide a snake-like shape around the screen, collect tiles featuring artwork from the selected playlist, and avoid running into the wall or your own body. The shape grows as it collects tiles. Reports say the associated playlist track plays or changes as you collect items, though Spotify does not appear to document the playback behavior in detail. Think of it as a small music-themed easter egg, not a full game mode. There is no verified evidence of persistent scores, achievements, levels, or a global leaderboard.

How to start the Spotify Snake game
- Update Spotify from the iOS App Store if you use an iPhone or iPad. On Android, update it through Google Play before checking, although broad Android availability is not established.
- Open the official Spotify mobile app and go to a playlist.
- Tap the playlist’s three-dot menu, usually near its Play and save controls.
- Scroll the menu and tap Eat this playlist, if it appears.
The game should open from there. Spotify can change its interface, so look for the current menu label rather than relying on a fixed position. If the option is missing, see the troubleshooting steps below.
How to play
- Swipe in four directions—up, down, left, or right—to steer.
- Collect the playlist tiles. These use song or album artwork associated with the playlist; collecting them makes the snake grow.
- Avoid collisions. Secondary guides describe hitting a wall or your own body as ending the run.
- Restart if offered. A Try again button may appear when a run ends. Tune My Music
Use a playlist with plenty of tracks if you have a choice. Around 20 or more is a practical suggestion to give the game more material and reduce noticeable repetition, not a confirmed Spotify minimum. Do not assume that a shorter playlist categorically cannot work. Playlist permissions and behavior for private or collaborative playlists are not officially documented; use one your account can access.

Spotify Community moderators described the game as an iOS-only test in certain markets in 2023. A Spotify Star later reported a rollout to more iOS users in October 2025, while Android users continued to ask for access in 2026. Those reports suggest a changing, uneven rollout—not a guarantee that every iOS user has it or that no Android user ever will. There is no reliable evidence that Premium is required. Community reports indicate that some Free users have seen the feature, and a moderator said it was not tied to a “Premium exclusive playlist.” That is not a current official eligibility guarantee, but Premium does not appear to be the deciding factor. Do not subscribe solely to try to unlock the game.

Why is “Eat this playlist” missing?
The most likely explanation is that your account has not received access. Spotify has tested features with limited groups, devices, and markets, so two users with the same app version may see different menus. Other possibilities include an outdated app, checking on desktop or web, or a playlist that does not expose the option. Spotify may also change or pause an experiment. Moderators have explicitly cautioned that users can see different features during testing. Spotify Community guidance
What to try if you cannot find it
- Confirm you are using the official Spotify mobile app rather than the desktop app or web player.
- Update Spotify from your device’s app store, then fully close and reopen it.
- Open a different playlist with substantially more than a few tracks and check its three-dot menu.
- Sign out and back in, then check the menu again.
- If the option is still missing, reinstall Spotify only if you know your login details. Offline downloads may need to be downloaded again afterward. Spotify’s support hub offers general app troubleshooting, but not a dedicated page for this game.
- If possible, check another eligible iOS device or account. If the option remains absent, assume your account or market has not received access.
These steps can resolve ordinary app problems; they cannot guarantee access to a feature controlled by Spotify’s rollout. Buying Premium, changing a playlist’s title or cover, repeatedly tapping Play, or using a VPN are not verified fixes. Avoid unofficial APKs, modified Spotify clients, and third-party apps claiming to unlock the game.

Does the game have a score or an ending?
The supported description is a Snake-style run that ends when you collide with a wall or the snake’s body, with a retry option reported by guides. Some coverage says tracks may repeat, but the exact limits and playback behavior are not documented consistently. There is no verified basis for promising a persistent score, leaderboard, or achievement system.

What if it is not available on your device?
There is no verified official workaround for getting the feature on Android, desktop, or web. Use a reputable standalone Snake game if you want the game mechanic, or explore a Spotify playlist normally—shuffle can help surface tracks you might have forgotten. Do not buy a device or subscription just for an experiment whose availability Spotify has not guaranteed.
