To move a Gyre 24/7 stream to a different YouTube channel, authorize the destination channel in Gyre, select it when configuring a replacement broadcast, and verify that broadcast in YouTube Studio before stopping the old stream. Make sure the Google account has live-stream management access to the destination and that the channel is eligible to stream. Whether Gyre can retarget a running broadcast while preserving its YouTube event URL, chat, or archive is unconfirmed; assume you may need a newly configured broadcast.
Change the destination channel in Gyre
Gyre associates a broadcast with an authorized YouTube channel. Each channel is authorized separately, so changing the destination means authorizing and selecting the intended channel as you configure the replacement stream.
- Sign in to Gyre and begin configuring a replacement YouTube stream.
- Choose YouTube channel authorization. Sign in with the Google account that owns or manages the destination channel. If you use channel permissions rather than the account owner’s sign-in, confirm your assigned role can manage live streams.
- Select the destination channel in Gyre. If the Google account manages multiple channels, inspect the displayed channel identity before continuing.
- Configure the broadcast. Set its title, description, tags, thumbnail, and privacy, then choose the video files or playlist and stream key as applicable in Gyre’s current interface. Gyre describes an authorization flow that can create the broadcast and bind a stream key to the selected channel.
- Check YouTube eligibility and limits before starting. The destination must meet YouTube’s live-stream requirements, and neither its channel nor the selected stream key can exceed the active-stream limits.
- Start or schedule the replacement broadcast and check YouTube Studio to confirm it appears on the intended channel. Decide when to stop the old stream only after verifying the new one.
Verifying the replacement before retiring the old stream is a practical safeguard, not a guarantee of a seamless handoff. Do not assume that changing the destination preserves the existing YouTube event.
Check access and YouTube eligibility
Give channel access without sharing a password
YouTube channel permissions let an owner grant access without sharing Google Account sign-in details. YouTube says Manager and Editor roles can manage live streams. Editors have restrictions, including not being able to manage permissions or delete scheduled, live, or completed streams. YouTube also says an Owner role under channel permissions cannot transfer ownership to another user. Make sure the access level fits the task before authorizing the channel in Gyre.

Confirm the destination can go live
- YouTube requires the channel to be verified and to have had no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- YouTube’s stated limits are 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key. Check both limits before launching.
- If a channel has an active live-stream restriction, do not try to get around it by switching the broadcast to another channel. YouTube prohibits using another channel while that restriction remains active.
Check rights to the videos
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If copyrighted material remains after an alert, YouTube can interrupt or terminate the stream. If you have permission to use material but the stream is still flagged, the rights holder may need to add the channel to an allowlist. Changing channels does not remove the need to have the necessary rights.
Changing a stream destination is not transferring a channel
Selecting another channel for a Gyre broadcast changes where the broadcast is created. It does not move the YouTube channel’s identity, videos, or ownership between accounts or Brand Accounts.

If your goal is to move the channel itself, use YouTube’s channel-transfer process rather than changing Gyre’s broadcast destination. YouTube’s transfer instructions include prerequisites and warn that an existing destination channel can be replaced. Check the source and destination identities carefully before confirming a transfer; it is a different and potentially consequential operation.
Can you keep the same live-event URL, chat, and archive?
The reviewed Gyre information does not establish whether retargeting a running broadcast preserves its YouTube event URL, live chat, or archive. Plan on configuring a new broadcast unless Gyre support confirms continuity for your specific setup. If keeping the same event identity is essential, ask Gyre support before making the change and do not stop the old stream until you have a verified transition plan.
