To check a meditation stream you are broadcasting, open its stream-health dashboard in YouTube Studio or the Live Control Room on your phone, then check the actual stream’s audio and video as a viewer would. For someone else’s stream, use the YouTube app to watch; you will not see the creator’s stream-health information.
Check your own stream from a phone
- Do a test broadcast first. YouTube recommends trying a test live stream so you can get comfortable with the process before a long session. Check that your phone and the viewing setup you intend to use work for your needs.
- Open the active stream’s dashboard. Find the stream in YouTube Studio or the Live Control Room. YouTube makes stream health and analytics available in Live Control Room, and its mobile metrics guidance covers real-time metrics for mobile streams. The exact screen and available labels can vary, so open the current stream entry rather than relying on a fixed menu path.
- Read stream status before audience metrics. Stream status is the creator-facing indicator of the health of the feed being sent to YouTube. It may show specific errors and instructions; use those details to decide what to check or correct.
- Review the metrics available for your stream. Depending on the streaming method and device, these can include concurrent viewers, duration, likes and live chat activity. They describe activity, not whether the meditation audio is clean or the video looks right.
- Check the viewer-facing output. Open or monitor the live stream itself and listen and look for problems. YouTube’s guidance says to “Continuously monitor streams for audio and video quality.” If something sounds or looks wrong, compare the output with the stream-status details and address any error shown there.
A phone stand can make an extended check-in more comfortable and hands-free, but it is optional and does not make a stream more reliable.
Choose the right monitoring view
Use the creator dashboard when you need stream status or the metrics available for your broadcast. Use the public stream when you need to judge what viewers actually hear and see. The documented mobile metrics and Live Control Room information do not establish that every metric appears in every app view or for every streaming method.
Watch someone else’s meditation stream
- Open the YouTube app and find or open the live stream.
- If the stream is scheduled rather than live, select “Notify me” on its YouTube listing to get a notification when it starts.
Watching a public stream does not provide access to its creator’s stream-health dashboard.
