But an always-on schedule does not guarantee monetization or income: your channel must qualify for the relevant features, your stream must comply with YouTube’s policies and rights rules, and viewers must actually watch or support it.
Choose revenue routes that fit your stream
YouTube offers several ways for eligible creators to monetize live content. The routes differ in how they earn money, what viewers experience, and whether they depend on audience participation. Feature access and availability vary, so check YouTube Studio and the current eligibility guidance before planning around a particular option.
| Route | How it can earn | What it depends on |
|---|---|---|
| Watch Page ads and YouTube Premium | Advertising on the live stream and revenue associated with YouTube Premium viewing. | Watch Page Monetization Module access, eligible content, ad availability, and viewing. |
| Channel memberships | Recurring payments from members in exchange for creator-defined perks. | Feature eligibility, setup, and viewers choosing to join. |
| Super Chat and Super Stickers | Paid messages or animated images that stand out in live chat. | Feature eligibility, setup, and viewers choosing to pay during a live stream or Premiere. |
| YouTube Shopping or product sales | Showcase your own products or products from other brands on a live stream, where available. | Feature eligibility, regional availability, and purchases. Specific terms depend on the arrangement. |
| Brand partnerships | A brand may pay or otherwise work with a creator to feature or discuss a product. | A suitable partner and agreed commercial terms; YouTube’s general guidance does not establish terms for an individual creator. |
Ads and Premium revenue can work without a viewer paying directly, but ad slots do not always fill. Memberships and live-chat purchases rely on active audience participation. Shopping and partnerships can suit a stream with relevant products, but availability and terms are not universal.
Check channel eligibility and enable the right features
First, confirm that your channel meets YouTube Partner Program requirements and the separate eligibility conditions for the earning features you want to use. Requirements and regional availability can change, so use YouTube’s Partner Program overview and eligibility page and the eligibility information shown in Studio as your current checks.
#1 Best Overall
- Qualify for the relevant feature. Being able to stream does not by itself mean a channel can use every monetization feature. Check feature access in YouTube Studio.
- Accept the applicable module. Watch Page ads and Premium revenue require acceptance of the Watch Page Monetization Module. Fan-funding features require acceptance of the Commerce Product Module.
- Turn on the features you intend to use. Enable applicable options in Studio and configure any memberships or perks before directing viewers to them.
- Keep the content eligible. YouTube reviews monetized content under its policies, including advertiser-friendly requirements for ads.
YouTube’s monetization setup guidance explains the available modules and how creators choose earning features. Its Commerce Products monetization policies cover commerce-related access and rules.
Set up ads without assuming every slot will serve
For a monetized live stream with monetization turned on, YouTube says pre-roll and display ads are automatically enabled. You can manage mid-rolls using automatic placement, a schedule, or manual insertion. YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance warns that an available ad slot is not a guarantee that an ad will appear; videos also go through standard review and must meet advertiser-friendly requirements.

Pick a mid-roll approach
- Automatic: YouTube decides when to show eligible mid-roll ads. Viewers may see ads at different times.
- Scheduled: You can set mid-roll intervals of 6, 12, 18, 24, or 30 minutes.
- Manual: Insert mid-rolls yourself when appropriate for the stream.
YouTube reports that, on average, channels choosing live automatic mid-rolls saw over 20% uplift in in-stream ad revenue per hour compared with channels without automatic live mid-roll ads. The platform’s comparison averaged results across 207 countries in January 2024. This is YouTube’s reported comparison, not a controlled forecast for an individual channel, and it is not specific to 24/7 streams. It does not establish how much any particular stream will earn.
Review live and replay ad revenue in YouTube Analytics rather than extrapolating a daily or monthly amount from stream duration. A stream that stays live longer may create more opportunities for viewing, but its earnings depend on whether eligible viewers watch and whether ads serve.

Build fan funding around a real audience
Memberships can provide recurring monthly payments in exchange for perks you define. Super Chat highlights paid messages, while Super Stickers let viewers surface paid animated images in live chat. YouTube describes these features for live streams and Premieres; access is subject to feature eligibility, the Commerce Product Module, and setup in Studio.
Plan perks and on-stream prompts around the content and community rather than treating payments as automatic. YouTube’s creator guidance recommends choosing earning features that suit the audience and content. A continuously available stream can give viewers more chances to encounter these options, but it does not ensure that anyone will use them.

Keep the stream eligible and clear the rights
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams as well as other content. On July 15, 2025, YouTube clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material is ineligible under its renamed inauthentic content policy; the company said its reused-content policy did not change. Keeping a stream running around the clock does not make its content eligible by itself. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies and consider whether the actual programming provides original value and complies with those rules.
You also need the rights required to broadcast the material. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions require creators to have all necessary rights to exploit live content, including applicable music licensing rights, and to comply with laws and regulations. Do not assume that music, documentary footage, photographs, or other material is cleared merely because it is available online or has been used elsewhere. Resolve rights before putting material into a continuous broadcast.

Choose a practical way to keep the stream running
YouTube lists mobile, webcam, and encoder methods for live streaming. A computer webcam is one option for a computer-based broadcast; it is not required for a stream built with a different method. YouTube’s live-streaming tips also name Wirecast as an encoder-software example. Choose a setup that matches your content and can reliably maintain the broadcast; no streaming method removes your responsibility for monetization eligibility, content policy, or rights.
For a continuous stream made from uploaded recordings rather than a live camera feed, a cloud service can keep the YouTube broadcast running without a computer or home connection staying on. StreamNeo is one option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos to YouTube from the cloud; it does not broadcast a camera feed.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo keeps an uploaded-video YouTube stream running with your computer off. Upload your recording or create a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. Your upload streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly option is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, then start your free day.
Estimate revenue cautiously
There is no reliable daily or monthly earnings figure established for a 24/7 stream by the information above. YouTube’s automatic-mid-roll comparison is a platform-reported average across channels and countries, not an individual forecast. Actual revenue depends on the features your channel can use, the content’s suitability for monetization, eligible viewing, ad serving, audience participation, and any product or partnership sales. Track your own results in YouTube Analytics and treat early performance as evidence about your channel—not as a promise of what continuous streaming will earn.
