You can run recorded coding lessons as a continuous YouTube livestream by sending YouTube a feed from a local encoder or a cloud playout service. A local setup gives you direct control but depends on a computer, power and internet connection staying available; cloud playout moves that work to a provider. Before building either setup, enable live streaming, verify your channel and clear the rights to everything in the playlist.
Choose how to send the lessons to YouTube
YouTube needs a live encoder feed; uploading a video or playlist to a regular channel does not by itself create a livestream. You can generate that feed on your own computer or hardware, or use a cloud service that plays uploaded recordings as a continuous stream.

Costs, reliability, playlist limits and recovery features vary. The available official YouTube information does not establish comparable prices, uptime, supported playlist sizes or recovery guarantees for providers. Check current plan limits and YouTube compatibility before choosing a service.
Get your channel ready before scheduling
- Verify the channel and enable live streaming. YouTube Help says first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. The channel must be verified and must not have had live-stream restrictions during the previous 90 days. YouTube also says streamers must be at least 16. Start activation early rather than waiting until the planned launch. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
- Prepare the lesson recordings. Put the lessons you intend to broadcast in a deliberate order. Give the stream a clear title and tell viewers that it consists of prerecorded lessons. Add a short description explaining the topics and how viewers can find a particular lesson. Because people may arrive midstream, make each lesson understandable on its own where possible.
- Check rights for every element. Confirm that you own or have permission to use lesson footage, code walkthroughs, music, graphics and any third-party material. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including other broadcasts. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder, and continued inclusion can interrupt or terminate it. Set up a local encoder
These steps apply to encoder software or hardware that can send a live feed to YouTube. Exact menus differ by encoder, so use its current documentation for the setting names.

- Choose an encoder. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders and publishes a directory of verified live encoders. YouTube notes that listed products are not made by YouTube. Select one that supports your video format and lets you provide a continuous playlist or repeat the lesson sequence; confirm those capabilities with the product’s current documentation.
- Create or schedule the livestream in YouTube Studio. Open Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule one. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- Enter YouTube’s connection details in the encoder. Paste the stream URL and key into the encoder’s streaming or destination settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or include it in a screen recording. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Load and review the lesson playlist. Check that lesson order, titles and any repeat behavior match what you intend viewers to see. Start the encoder and confirm that YouTube receives the feed. For a scheduled broadcast, connect and start the encoder, preview the incoming stream in Live Control Room, then select the control to go live.
- Monitor after launch. Check Live Control Room for stream status and have a tested alert and recovery process. YouTube’s setup guidance describes the control room; it does not promise an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast. A local stream can stop if its device, power or network fails.
Plan archives separately from the continuous stream
YouTube Help says, “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” That threshold is YouTube’s current guidance, accessed in 2026; it is not a promise that a stream running continuously for 12 hours or longer will produce one complete archive. If you need a full video-on-demand copy, consider ending and restarting within the stated window, and verify current behavior in YouTube Studio before relying on an archive. Understand copyright and monetization limits
Copyright can interrupt even a scheduled educational stream
Do not assume that educational subject matter makes third-party media safe to use. Use material you created or have cleared for livestream use. If you have a license, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be allowlisted through Content ID to reduce the chance of an automated interruption. Replaying useful lessons does not guarantee monetization
YouTube’s monetization policy applies to live streams. It expects original, authentic content and identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as inauthentic; reused content is assessed separately. A loop of your own lessons is not automatically approved: make your authorship and educational value clear, and do not treat repetition alone as a way to qualify.
