YouTube does not guarantee an unbroken broadcast, and a stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived. If you need a complete replay, make a separate local recording.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube also requires streamers to be at least 16. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance for current requirements.
- An encoder to send the audio-and-visual program to YouTube. YouTube describes encoders as suitable for customized productions, including overlays and hardware such as microphones and preamps. Current setup guidance is available in YouTube’s encoder help.
- A finished audio source and a visual source, plus permission for every component. You can use an original field recording, commissioned material, or properly licensed files.
- A stable operating plan: someone or something must be able to notice an interruption and restore the broadcast. A 24/7 schedule is an operational goal, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.
Prepare the Rajasthan ambience and visuals
Choose an audio source you can use
For an original recording, capture the wind yourself or commission a recording and keep the source files and rights documentation. A microphone and, depending on the recording chain, a preamp are possible tools—not YouTube requirements. If you already have properly licensed ambience, you do not need to buy recording gear merely to start the stream.
Check the rights for the full program, not just the main wind recording. Music, stock ambience, photographs, footage, maps, artwork, and overlays may each have separate rights. Attribution by itself is not permission.
Build a visual presentation
Pair the sound with a visual you made or are authorized to use, such as your own Rajasthan footage or a still image with a clear, unobtrusive title. YouTube’s encoder workflow supports customized presentations, but the sources here do not establish a particular visual format or encoder setting as best for this use. Do not present generic or unrelated imagery as documentary footage of the sound’s origin.

Set up and start the YouTube Live broadcast
- Confirm channel eligibility. Sign in to YouTube and verify the channel if needed. Confirm there is no live-stream restriction from the previous 90 days and that the person operating the stream meets YouTube’s age requirement.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Choose an encoder-based stream and configure the broadcast in line with YouTube’s current on-screen instructions. Labels and recommended technical settings can change, so use the current encoder setup help rather than relying on an old bitrate or codec preset.
- Connect the encoder. Enter or select the stream key using YouTube’s instructions, then send the prepared audio-and-visual feed. Treat the stream key as private: anyone with access may be able to broadcast to the channel.
- Check the preview and status before going public. Confirm that the wind audio is audible, the visual is correct, and YouTube shows an incoming feed. Resolve any warnings before you announce or rely on the stream.
- Start the broadcast and monitor it. Keep a way to check the Live Control Room and respond if the feed stops or YouTube displays a warning. Do not assume YouTube will restore every interruption automatically.
Protect the stream from copyright interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material from another rights holder, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the creator to stop using that material; if it continues, the broadcast may be interrupted or terminated. YouTube also says that a rights owner may need to add a channel to its Content ID allowlist when the creator has a license. A license alone does not guarantee that a live stream will avoid interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
- Keep permission records and license terms for every third-party audio and visual element.
- Ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting when licensed material is likely to match.
- Do not treat a successful private test as proof that a later public stream will not be matched.
Plan separately for continuous streaming and a full replay
A 24/7 live channel and a complete archive are different goals. YouTube says it can automatically archive a live stream if it is less than 12 hours and recommends keeping a local recording as backup. Its help also warns: “If your live stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” Read YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance before deciding how to preserve the program.

If you need a replay, plan local recording and enough storage independently of the live broadcast. Decide how you will manage and publish manageable recordings; YouTube’s archive guidance does not establish a supported method for stitching a continuous 24/7 recording into one complete archive.
Make the work demonstrably original
Copyright and monetization are separate questions. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams and call for original, authentic content; its policy on inauthentic content addresses repetitive or mass-produced material. Reused-content review is separate from copyright, so permission to use a recording does not by itself establish monetization eligibility. A stream built from nearly interchangeable loops, with little clear creator contribution, may face policy risk. YouTube’s policy page identifies July 15, 2025 as its update date: YouTube channel monetization policies.

- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.

Make your contribution clear through original recordings, thoughtful sound selection or production, accurate context, and a channel description that explains how the material was made. These steps can help viewers understand the work, but they do not guarantee monetization approval.
Understand monetization limits
YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and memberships as possible ways to earn from live streams, subject to channel eligibility and settings. Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve, so a continuous stream should not be treated as predictable income. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.

Troubleshoot common problems
YouTube does not accept the stream
- Possible cause: The channel is not eligible, has not been verified, or has a live-stream restriction.
- What to do: Check the channel’s live-stream access and follow the current eligibility steps in YouTube’s live-stream help.
The Live Control Room shows no incoming feed
- Possible cause: The encoder is not sending, or the selected stream key does not match the stream configured in YouTube.
- What to do: Check the encoder’s connection and confirm that it is using the key for the intended YouTube stream. Consult the current encoder setup instructions.
The sound or visual is wrong
- Possible cause: The wrong source is routed to the encoder, or the prepared program does not match the intended presentation.
- What to do: Inspect the encoder output and Live Control Room preview before continuing. Confirm the audio is audible and the visual is the authorized asset you intended to show.
YouTube replaces or interrupts the stream
- Possible cause: A Content ID match or other third-party content has been detected.
- What to do: Follow the warning, stop using disputed material, and check your rights records. If you have a license, ask the rights holder whether the channel needs to be allowlisted. See YouTube’s live copyright guidance.
The live stream is available but the replay is incomplete or missing
- Possible cause: A broadcast longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
- What to do: Do not depend on YouTube’s automatic archive for a full-day or continuous recording; arrange a local recording if a replay matters. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
Or let it run in the cloud
